We've used them off and on for 25 years. I have all of the game channels. They provide all of the big 12 games. They have all of our shows. The reception is great and they are responsive. They are punctual.
Description of Work: Dish Network provides our TV service.

dish network has problems with the hopper service they sell, first off they dont tell customers about it needing to shut off every night after 1 am to look for updates , the time for the update is not changeable , although it was on there last how ,many models of dvrs ,and just about every other dvr on the market ,and you cannt do any changes to prevent there updates either ,dish network also tends to do very little testing on these updates before they send them out to customers too . first off i work nights ,so my tv time is after midnight ,and for a company to not tell new customers that ,and these updates go on every night ,after 1 am ,will shut down the hopper even if its recording programs ,and you are watching something on tv ,or recorded ,,Why yes hopper i want to shut off my system and look for updates even though i just started watching a movie i started watching 15 minutes ago , this went on for almost a year and a half of dealing with this issue almost every night ,customer service would lie to me and tell me this issue was being fixed ,,worst of all they kept rolling out updates on there systems that caused even more issues like shutting down to look for updates ,while its recording shows ,or it going thru and deleting shows on its own out of the dvr ,or marking them watched ,or just not even recording them,I put up with this lousy level of service of about a year and a half ,many many calls to customer service did nothing to resolve the problem ,,and when i got tired of it ,and canceled my service they billed an expired credit card for an ETF of course sad to say but it was worth it to get rid of dish network and there lousy service , so if you keep odd hours and can be up late at night maybe you should think twice about joining dish for service ,and you dont have to take my work for it either just google it ,this has been a huge issue with there customers for over 2 years ,and its sad they can lock customers into a 2 year contract with this glaring problem,and not let them out ,of tell them about it

We switched to Dish Network because we were not getting the local Grand Junction channel with Directv, we live in Silt, Co and only got Denver (3+ hours away/front range) channels with DirecTV and not the local channel out of Grand Junction (1 hour away/West Slope). We had heard that other subscribers of DISH in our area got the Grand Junction TV channel. When I called DISH they verified that we would get the local channel plus they had a very good deal going on and my bill would be cut in 1/2. The installer was nice but had a number of issues getting all the TVs up and running and didn't seem to know anything about us getting the local channel. I had to call DISH several times to get all the TVs operating correctly. Also when I called to complain about only getting Denver channels when I had been told before I chose to subscribe to DiSH that I would get the local channel, the operator spoke with did not apologize or offer me any kind of retribution for having been misinformed by one of their operators. Anyway by that time, we had gotten used to the Hopper DVR and really like it so we chose not to go back to DIRECTV even though they were offering to pay our cancellation fee with DISH. We really do like the Hopper DVR and just continue to be disappointed we can't get local news. Unfortunately since we live in a rural area and cannot get cable (Comcast cable does provide the Grand Junction channel in Silt), we are stuck with a choice of 2 satellite providers that cannot give us the local channel. I guess if cable ever gets out to the country, we'll get Comcast and hopefully they'll have a Hopper too! P.S. The Hopper DVR automatically skips over commercials for you and also allows you to watch your recordings on all 4 TVs. With DirectV, we had to FFW and try to stop at end of commercials and we could only watch recordings on 2 TVs.

I've used Dish for several years now. We used to have DirectTV, but cancelled when we could no longer turn our service off and on at our vacation home. Buying our box with Dish allows us to move the service from place to place and turn it off completely with no charge when we don't need it. There are issues from time to time, but the technical support is excellent. My only problem is the outsourced call center I have to use to disconnect my service. I tire of saying the same thing over and over only to be returned to the US.

When I moved from AR to OK, I set up my move transfer 3 weeks in advance. The installer missed the appointment. After calling and talking to, I swear, everyone, I was told he showed up early and I wasn't there. It was a lie I was at home the time he said he arrived. When calling, no one saves any changes you tell them, they apparently have not comprehensice Customer Relationship Management System because no record of any previous conversation I had had with anyone, and they are blaise about the monet they are costing their business by screwing things up. Cut to this move. On 9/24/14, I called to cancel my service. I spoke to Kathy and she cancelled my account, told me I had 30 days to return the receiver and remotes, indicated the refund I had coming that she was sending me the box with return shipping label. I gave her the address that I was going to be staying at for temporary housing. She repeated the addres back and the box got shipped to Tulsa, not PA. On 10/8/12, talked to Mark, same conversation, bos sent to Tulsa, not PA. 10/15/12, I spoke to Ann and then was transferred to Kevin Hurley, same converstaion, I had them repeat the PA address three times. I got a very weak "I'm sorry" quite a bit more attitude than basic customer service training allows and the return box was sent to Tulsa again, instead of PA. I called today 10/18/12 and got Sigrud in Exec Resolution and she had way too bad attitude and then told me I "started it". I hung up, called back and got April. April weakly apologized (my dog wouldn't have even believed it). She took down my information again, said she saved it in the system and sent out another package, reportedly to the PA address. When I asked her if she realized that errors like this cost her company money, her response was, "I'm sure it does". They just don't seem to care about accuracy or understand the part that plays in customer service. And basically, they don't understand customer service. "
Description of Work: Don't ever take your Dish TV Service with you when you move. I had a bad experience when I moved from AR to OK and so when I moved from OK to PA, I decided to cancel my seven year relationship with them. They have no concept of accuracy, customer service, or the cost of errors.

We wanted satelite for the olympics and Dish had the best price for two TV's (other companies charge extra for each additional tv). Basically you need to get a two year contract. Dish agreed to let us pay $99 for the install and an extra $20 a month to avoid having a contract. However, when we went to leave dish they told us we would have an early termination fee of $200 + . We explained what their sales person had offered us but basically, we had to fight with them every turn to not pay the the early termination fee. My suggestion, just get the dish for two years, save the money and avoid the grey hair. They really were the best deal for America's 120 most popular stations, had great setup service and their product worked well.
