I read the reviews for Diamond Landscaping and it appeared to be hit or miss experience. By the end of my experience it was a complete miss. Do NOT use this company. In July 2012, I contracted with Diamond Landscaping to install sod and a few bushes at my house in Colorado Springs. Kary Finlay, co-owner, installed the sod and the bushes. When he was done, he was concerned about being paid, so I sent him a check. However, before I had a chance to tell my son that I had paid him; he also paid him through PayPal. Therefore, he was paid twice. I tried to contact him to refund the double payment to no avail. I left multiple voice mails, but he never returned my calls – he disappeared. Finally I contacted PayPal about the situation, and they gave me a credit for the amount that was paid to him through their company. While all of this was happening, the sod that he installed died, I called him about this also, but, again (surprise), he did not return my calls. I don't think he prepared the soil properly with amendments, and that is why the grass died. As a result, in the Spring of this year I have to start all over again. The overall experience can be described as frustrating and a waste of time and money.

Description of Work: Set up an appointment with Kary at (719)459-6415. The guy never showed for the estimate and didn't bother to call me back even after I left him a voicemail wanting to see if he was still coming. Complete waste of my day. This guy's business is doing sooooo good that he cherry picks his potential clients or is just flat out unprofessional. Either way, I've gone and hired Ortiz Landscaping for will begin work on my yard in June. I guess a $12,500 project is too little for Diamond to waste their time on.

The person said he would get back with me with and estimation ... he took some measurements of the area to be worked on... said his calculator / phone was broken and he need to take it to the "Mac store". He promised to call me with his estimated cost for the project. I waited several days and did not hear from him ... lack of professionalism
Description of Work: A rep from the company came to give me an estimate on a landscaping project.

Overall it went very well. They had by far the lowest bid for our project. They had laid our neighbor's sod and things went well with them so I thought I'd give this company a try and I'm glad we did. Two out of the 4 bids we received were at least double what Diamond Landscaping bid at and charged. The owners and their crew was young but did a good job and always extremely polite....yes ma'am to anything I said! I'd hire them again in a heart beat for any type of landscaping needs I may need.
Description of Work: Our house is a new build with absolutely no landscaping and the house sits on a steep hill. They hauled in a dirt/compost mix for the yard. They laid sod in front and back yards. They buried our eave spouts and ran the drainage pipes out to the ditch in back of the house by the street. They put down a weed barrier and laid 4-6 inch rocks on the steep hill on both sides of the house to keep the soil from eroding. In front they laid the weed barrier and put down smaller rocks. On the one side of the house they put in flag stone pavers amongst the rocks to make a step down walk way to get to the back yard. In the front and back yards they planted 3 trees and 10 bushes. In the back where most of the bushes are planted they also put down mulch. In the front where they planted 3 of the bushes they mulched that area too. They sectioned off two flower beds for me and left mulch for me to cover those with as soon as I get some perennial flowers planted there. They also put in barriers to keep the mulch from getting into the sod, and from the rock getting into the sod. They also installed a basic 6 foot cedar fence, only 3 sides because our neighbor has the same kind of fence. The fence looks great! They put in 1 single gate on one side and then a double 10' gate in the back.

They originally quoted me a price I couldn't afford, but we negotiated and came to an agreement. They work they did turned out excellent.
Description of Work: They were trimming some bushes for me and ran into a bee hive. They ran down to the store to get some spray and took care of the bees without charging me extra.

I called to setup an appointment with Mark for Xeriscape work on a rental property in Fountain. He made an appointment for an estimate and discussion of the project. He called an said he would be 20 minutes late. I told him that I'm getting bids from several Xeriscapers today. He never should up! I'm a local real estate investor and always looking for someone to add on my rehad team and I truly believe in long term business relationships.
Description of Work: I called to setup an appointment with Mark for Xeriscape work on a rental property in Fountain. The work to be completed was to put in two tiers of brick work and small sized River Rock at the ground level, medium sized River Rock at the middle level, and large sized River Rock at the top level with four low-maintenance plants on the mid level and a medium size island with mulch in the top level.

They did an outstanding job. I couldn't have been more pleased with the outcome for the price.
Description of Work: This is a newly erected small company who does outstanding landscaping jobs for a fraction of what their competitors charge for the same work. I had 265 square feet of 5'0 feet privacy fencing put up in my backyard and stained (quality Behr stain) front and back.
