I bought an extended warranty plan to cover this visit. The service guy came out and spent about 5 minutes looking at my washer but then told me he couldn't do anything without another service guy to help him since my dryer is stacked on top of the washer. So he said we needed to schedule a new appointment. The soonest available time was 2 weeks away. I tried to call Sears to get a sooner appointment but they said none was available. When I made the first appointment they never asked me if my dryer was stacked on top, I would think they would if it was going to be an issue. I decided that I couldn't wait two weeks for my washing machine to be fixed so I called another repair company from this site (Jim and Dave's Appliance). They were awesome and came out the same day. There was only one guy and he put a slider contraption under my washer and slid everything out from the wall. He was able to find that my washer had a continuous water leak from a valve. Had he not come out that day my washer would have continued to drip for two weeks until Sears could come out. Sears did refund my money, but I do not trust Sears at all. Every interaction with their people in my home always ends up in frustration from their delivery people to service tecnicians. This will be my last Sears appliance that I purchase.

I am very unhappy with my experience.
Description of Work: This is the first negative review I have ever written on Angie's List or anywhere else. Our dealings with buying a new washer & dryer (Kenmore Elite) and having it delivered by Sears have been a nightmare. When our new washer and dryer was delivered, the delivery team was supposed to hook up the dryer's vent hose as well as the dryer steam hose. They didn't do this. When my husband and I realized it hadn't been installed properly (after our laundry room was covered in lint after using the dryer) we called Sears to have them come back and do the job correctly. We were forced to wait over a week and when the technician finally arrived, he claimed it wasn't his job and this wasn't a warranty issue. He said this was an issue with the delivery team not installing the dryer hose correctly. Since the dryer is large and heavy and he arrived all by himself, he couldn't do anything for us. He told me it was my responsibility to tell Sears they needed to send two guys out because of the size of the washer/dryer. I spent the next 3 hours calling various Sears departments and literally pulling my hair out. I have never been passed along to so many incorrect departments and spoken with so many inefficient people in my life. Phone reps searched the system based on our name, address and telephone numbers and were unable to find anything in the system regarding our sale. After hours on the phone, I was eventually connected to a person who was able to bring up the receipt number for us. We have now been told we have to wait another week to get anyone to hook up the dryer vent and steam for us. Sears really needs to get their act together. We will never shop there again.

We liked their selection. Their price was fair. They were very responsive as they always called back. I would use them again if needed.
Description of Work: Sears completely remodeled our kitchen. They replaced the cabinet, countertop, and tiling.

It just took him ten minutes and the guy was really nice. I was very happy that I didn't have to get a new refrigerator. It took them five days to get here. I had just moved into a new house and I was living out of coolers in my garage. Five days was a long time to do that. We were going through real cold period with the weather so running in and out of the house to do food preparation was like winter camping. They came out on the sixth day and got it fixed in ten minutes so that was fine. It wasn't like it was a difficult problem. They knew immediately what it was and fixed it quickly. The problem was that it took them so long to get here. They came when they said they would but it just took them a long time to be able to get here.
Description of Work: Sears came out in the last week of October to replace the parts for the refrigerator and freezer.

Sears delivery is a captive service, although I'm sure you could pick-up the item up if you had other means. We didn't have other means. I would describe the experience as chaotic and time consuming. Sears provided inconsistant information and it was not timely. We will never know if we really needed to pay the $230 for installation or not.
Description of Work: We bought a gas dryer from Sears. This report is about delivery of that dryer. The weekend delivery cost was $75 (for a Saturday), but there was a rebate, so it was free. That is the best thing to say about it. * I was told by the salesman in the store that the delivery crew would install the dryer, however the appointment verifier (a computer call) said they would/could not install it because of 'code' restrictions. * I was told that I would receive a call on Friday before 6:00pm to set the delivery time on Saturday. The call never came. My wife followed up and was told to "call back after 7:00pm." Meanwhile, we had scheduled a plumber to install the dryer. Our delivery appointment time was finally scheduled for 'between 3:30 and 5:00' on Saturday. We had to call and reschedule the plumber who would take appointments on Saturday no later than 3:00. * When the delivery finally showed up, the deliverers said we could call them to come back and install the dryer for free. We did not take them up on it, but called American Services to install the dryer. By that time we simply had given up on Sears employees knowing what they can or cannot do. American Services charged $230. Ductwork installation was part of that charge.

I HAD A POSITIVE EXPERIENCE WITH THE BATTERY REPLACEMENT SERVICE CENTER OF SEARS. MY BATTERY QUIT ON A SATURDAY MORNING. WHEN I CALLED THEM LATE SATURDAY AFTERNOON TO INQUIRE OF THEIR MONDAY HOURS, I WAS SURPRISED TO FIND OUT THAT THEY ARE OPEN UNTIL 9 PM ON SATURDAY NIGHTS. MY BATTERY WAS REPLACED IN LESS THAN 30 MINUTES. THEY HAD A GOOD SELECTION OF BATTERIES TO CHOOSE FROM AS WELL.
Description of Work: THE ORIGINAL BATTERY IN MY 2002 TOYOTA WAS REPLACED ON A SATURDAY EVENING AT 6 PM.
