Luke and Augi showed up on time and were very professional. Work was completed quickly and for the quoted amount. I even added a item to their work order while they were here as I wanted to make sure all my plumbing was done. The whole team was very communicative from calling to schedule work to letting me know when they were en route, to what needed to be done to the house for them to perform the work (i.e. turning all the water off) Would highly recommend!

We had a terrible experience with Rex's Plumbing & Heating in Fort Collins. We suffered a house fire in October 2015, lost our home and our possessions, and we were under-insured on both. While rebuilding, we had Rex and Levi come to the house and install a floor drain and ejector pit in the basement slab. We asked Rex for an invoice and they gave it to us on May 20, and we quickly paid them on June 3. During framing, we talked to Rex about bidding the plumbing on the entire house. He walked the job with my husband, and everything was going okay until we said that my parents bought our plumbing fixtures for us. Rex got angry that we weren't buying our fixtures from his supplier so that he could mark them up for profit. After that, we called and emailed multiple times giving Rex plenty of opportunities to provide a bid to do our plumbing. (He could have raised his rates a little to cover for his supposed profit loss on fixtures but guess he didn't think of that). Almost a year later, we are trying to get a bank loan to finish construction. From March 5 to April 17, we have emailed and called Rex multiple times to get a lien waiver for the bank. It might seem like a silly exercise for $382.00, well beyond the statute limits on filing a lien, but the bank wants it. Rex won't provide it. That's a dilemma. When my husband showed up at Rex's office this afternoon, Rex told my husband he would not sign the document and to get off his property (several times). He said it was because we were nit-picking his purchase of fixtures and that we took his free time to walk the property. (I thought that was what contractors do all the time - walk job sites, bid, and win/lose the jobs). We might scratch our heads and wonder about the definition of passive-aggressive. If you call Rex's and get to voice mail, it says "have a blessed day" maybe because he claims to be a Christian. We might scratch our heads and wonder about what it really means to be a Christian. At the end of today, my husband and I feel "blessed" that we did not hire Rex to do the plumbing on our home.

When I first called the company, we were unable to get them scheduled to come until a week after the call. The lower and quot;responsivenessand quot; score is because I felt that that was not as responsive as I have generally found other companies in getting work scheduled. The individual from this company arrived on time and did repair our fireplace. My problem with this company is what they eventually charged us. This ended up being a simple repair, where a part was broken and needed to be replaced. First, they tripled the charges for the part. They left the packaging of the part and I looked it up on the internet (prices ranged from $25-30 but I was charged $75 for the part). Second, this repair could have been completed in an hour, but this guy made delay after delay to double the labor charges and stretch it to two hours. Once the part was identified, he told me the only place he could get the part was at a store way down by Fort Collins airport. He left and then after about 15 minutes he came back and said oh, maybe he might need to replace another part (no, he didn't need to do that) and he came back to get the part number. Then he left again and was gone about 45 minutes, and when he came back I watched him test and re-test and re-test the part that had already been identified as needing replacing (huh?), before he finally replaced it with the new part. BTW, I found the part on the Home Depot website and altho I didn't check our local store to see if the part was there I am assuming it was there because it was listed on their website. Home Depot is a very short 1.5 miles away from our home. Don't understand why I had to pay $95/hour for this guy to drive way down to the Fort Collins airport to get a part that seems to be available at Home Depot just a short distance away. I think the two trips were excessive charges that we ended up having to pay for. Isn't it amazing, but when he f-i-n-a-l-l-y finished it was two hours. I feel we were over-charged an hour of labor ($95) and overcharged for the part. Also, BTW, after he wrote up the bill, he told me, oh by the way the pilot light and quot;auto lighterand quot; didn't work, and that if we needed to light the pilot light we would have to use a match. He showed me that the pilot light was supposed to automatically light from a button underneath the fireplace, but that the part didn't work. Not sure why he didn't repair this if he noticed it didn't work, but I surely wasn't going to have him do it and have to spend more money for him to drive down to the FC airport again for another part. I am happy to pay reasonable charges for work done on our behalf, but I feel they basically doubled the and quot;reasonableand quot; cost for both the labor with totally unnecessary delays and the part by unreasonable uplift of the part (by tripling the actual cost). I would not use them again.
Description of Work: Our gas fireplace needed to be repaired. The pilot light was on, but when we turned on the fireplace it would not light up.

We had arranged for another plumber, recommended by a friend, to install the gas line for the new range. After several emails and phone calls, the plumber assured me "just give me a call when the stove arrives and I'll be there." Monday arrived, I made the phone call to find out that the plumber forgot to add us to his schedule. "I think I can get to it on Thursday or Friday. I'll have to let you know." We were without a stove and were looking to be without one through the end of the week and possibly the weekend. Frustrated, I called Rex, our regular go to plumber. I explained what happened and Rex said, "I'll be there this afternoon to take a look." Rex showed up and said he could be there first thing Wednesday morning. He and his assistant, Mike were there bright and early and done by 1pm. Rex might not be the cheapest plumber, but he has always been on schedule and very effective.
Description of Work: Rex ran gas pipe to my kitchen to hook up my new gas range and also converted my BBQ to natural gas.

Rex is a fair and down to earth plumber. He always wants us to make the most informed decision and I always feel that our needs are his primary concern over what he is going to make on the job.
Description of Work: Rex plumbed our basement bathroom when we decided to finish our basement. He recommended an extra vanity to accommodate our teenage daughter in her bathroom battle with her brothers. Recently, our hot water heater ruptured and Rex tried to install a new one in the middle of a blizzard and was in an accident with his truck on the way to our house. Rex's only concern was that we would be without hot water. He sent two of his men over first thing in the morning and we had hot water within an hour.

Rex seemed like a good person and a great plumber, until I got the bill. My estimate was for $1500-2,000, and the final bill was $3,700! It was very difficult to get them to start the job in the first place, and then it was harder to get them to finish. Rex became angry with me when I questioned him on the final bill, telling me I had no idea what it really cost and that he was doing me a favor. I even agreed to do the upfront work and the cleanup afterward, but in the end I don't think that was considered in the bill. And to make things worse, he had his trainee do most of the work that I was paying him to do. Sorry to say, but don't hire this guy.
Description of Work: Pipes replaced and tankless (way overpriced) hot water heater installed.

Response from Rex's Plumbing & Heating
I'M REX LOWRANCE, OWNER OF REX'S PLUMBING & HEATING. MY RESPONSE TO THIS MEMBER'S COMMENTS ARE AS FOLLOWS: HE IS A REAL NICE KID BUYING HIS FIRST HOME WITH HIS NEW WIFE (LOVELY COUPLE). THEY PURCHASED A HOME THAT WAS BUILT IN 1945 THAT HAS BEEN A COLLEGE RENTAL AND FIXER UPPER BEFORE THEY BOUGHT IT FROM THE BANK AS A REPO. FIRST OFF THE VERBAL ESTIMATE I GAVE HIM WAS FOR $2000-$2500 DEPENDING ON HOW MUCH HE WANTED TO REPAIR AND OR REPLACE. THAT WAS INCLUDING RUNNING NEW WATER LINES, GAS LINE AND VENT, A RINNAI MODEL #2532 AND R&R ALL THE GALVANIZED LINES THAT WERE IN THE LAUNDRY ROOM AND PUT THEM IN THE CEILING. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PROJECT HE INFORMED ME THAT HE DIDN'T WANT THAT ONE, HE WANTED THE MODEL #53I PLUS WHICH HE FOUND ON LINE WHICH IS A GREAT UNIT BUT IT COSTS OVER $600 MORE THAN THE ONE BID, HE DID NOT MENTION THAT HE WANTED THAT ONE UNTIL AFTER THE OTHER UNIT WAS ALREADY ON THE JOB SITE AND UPON ORDERING THE OTHER UNIT I HAD TO PAY A 20% RESTOCKING FEE AND WAIT 2 DAYS FOR THE NEW TO ARRIVE. WHILE WORKING ON THE PROJECT HE SAID CAN YOU REMOVE AND REPLACE THE WATER LINES GOING TO THE KITCHEN IN THE NEXT ROOM, RUN THE NEW WATER LINES AS FAR AS YOU CAN WITHOUT TEARING OUT THE ENTIRE CEILING IN THE NEXT ROOM OVER THE BATHROOM AND CAN YOU RUN A NEW DRYER VENT AND CAN YOU REPLACE THE WATER LINE BACK TO AND THE MAIN SHUT OFF BECAUSE IT IS LEAKING AND CAN YOU TELL ME WHY THE FOUNDATION WALL HAS A TWO INCH CRACK IN IT WITH WATER COMING IN AND IS THAT SOMETHING I SHOULD WORRY ABOUT. WELL I THINK YOU GET THE PICTURE. THERE WERE MANY THINGS I FIXED AND DID NOT CHARGE FOR AND NOT TO MENTION GAVE HIM A REDUCED RATE ON ALL WORK PERFORMED, I DID NOT CHARGE HIM FOR THE RESTOCKING FEE AND SERVICED THE FURNACE AT NO CHARGE. I HAD DISCUSSED WITH HIM THAT MOST OF THE PIPING AND HEAT RUNS IN THE HOUSE WAS SEALED AND INSULATED WITH ASBESTOS AND HE WOULD HAVE TO HAVE AN ASBESTOS ABATEMENT TEAM COME OVER AND REMOVE IT OR HE WOULD HAVE TO. WE CANNOT HANDLE DUE TO INSURANCE REGULATIONS AND LABOR RESTRICTIONS. THE COUPLE HAD JUST CLOSED ON THE HOUSE AT NOON AND WANTED US IN FOR REPAIRS IMMEDIATELY THE SAME DAY WE WERE VERY BUSY AT THE TIME AND WE GOT THERE THE NEXT DAY. TO HELP SAVE ON SOME COSTS HE AGREED TO PULL DOWN THE PANELING ON THE CEILING SO WE COULD PUT THE PIPES IN THE FLOOR JOISTS UPON ARRIVAL AT THE JOB HE HAD REMOVED A SMALL SECTION OUT OF THE CORNER OF ONE ROOM AND PILED IT UP IN THE MIDDLE OF WHERE WE HAD TO WORK. WE HAD TO REMOVE THE DEBRIS AND REMOVE THE REST OF THE CEILING COVER. I WAS WRONG IN YELLING BACK AT HIM WHEN HE WENT OFF ON ME AFTER RECEIVING THE BILL. HE’S GOT A TEMPER. AS FOR LEAVING MY TRAINEE THERE TO DO THE JOB I WAS PERSONALLY ON THE JOB FOR 95% OF IT I HAD STEPPED OUT FOR TWO MEETINGS TO LOOK AT OTHER JOBS AND I WAS GONE FOR ABOUT AN HOUR TO HOUR AND A HALF BOTH TIMES. I DID LEARN THAT FROM NOW ON DO NOT DO ANY ADDITIONAL WORK UNTIL THE CUSTOMER IS TOTALLY AWARE OF ALL COST DIFFERENCES AND EXTRA’S BEFORE WORK IS STARTED NO MATTER HOW BIG OF A HURRY THEY ARE IN. ALL IN ALL HE COULD BE A REAL NICE GUY IF HE CAN KEEP HIS TEMPER UNDER CONTROL. THE FINAL JOB COST WAS $3622.55
