Steve reviewed all aspects of the system. He pointed out a needed filter change and replaced a AC part that was showing signs of wear. He explained why he did what did as well why I needed to take the actions I needed to take for routine maintenance. He worked fast, but efficiently.

Started using them for semi-annual HVAC maintenance about 5 years ago. They are the best. They are very professional and the service techs always go over everything. No pressure to purchase extra service. They're very honest and I trust them completely. When I have had a problem they respond quickly to get it fixed. I had the water heater replaced and it was installed and running the same day. They connected venting from the dryer to the outside vent when I found out it was not connected.

My furnace stopped working in the middle of a cold period. They came really fast and they fixed it. It was the gas regulator on the thermos had malfunction and they replaced that for me and did some adjustments to the furnace for free. They were in and out in a day. It was hard to get a fall schedule but other than that they are OK. They didn't gouge me on price.

Very good - very knowledgeable tech, was very happy to explain everything he was doing - and why - what the benefits were, what was good, what was OK & what needed to be addressed (nothing other than new filters). Tech took his time - didn't act like he was rushed, or rushing to get it done and get to next appointment. I had purchased an annual maintenance contract in the fall of 2013, after purchasing a home that was 7 years old and had been empty for 2 years & this service call was included.
Description of Work: Annual maintenance and tune up (have an annual service agreement at $227 per year - this is maintenance/service is included. the $36.00 was for new filters for the services.

They did an outstanding job! They came out to give us an estimate first. They gave us a range of options. There was no pressure to buy the most expensive unit. In fact, we chose the least expensive one. They were very punctual and professional. We had an appointment set up, and there had been a cancellation, so they called and we got service within two days! Bob, the man who actually installed the unit was very personable and provided lots of explanation as he worked. It was a very pleasant experience!

I'm on their maintenance plan so they come in the Spring and in the Fall. If anything happens in between then I'm one of their members, I guess that's what you call me and I just pay a one time fee and then if something else happens and it's not their fault, it's the fault of the system, then I get a discount. They've taken care of me. They come when I call and they took care of everything. I am after customer service that's why I'm going to fire the people that's doing my lawn now because no respect.
Description of Work: Northern Colorado Air Inc did maintenance for me. We've used them for 12 years. They shut down my humidifier with my furnace, changed my filter which we do all the time but they have to do it when they come, and they checked my air conditioner, just make sure all systems are a go and ready for the summer.

This company beat all other vendors by several thousand dollars. During the quote, they spent almost 3 hours inspecting and surveying our home for our needs. Their quote was based what we needed and not what made them the most money. They suggested a unit that was both highly rated and also available for a great price. I gave them a C for responsiveness simply because they are slow to respond to phone calls and email. However, this didn't take away from what we hired them to do. For that reason, I gave them an A in all other categories. The install went smoothly. They provided excellent work and clearly took care during the install. The outside temperature on the day of the install was right around 0F. For that reason they didn't test the AC yet. They assured us that if something isn't right once the spring arrives, they would take care of it.

I noticed a large pool of rusty water on the floor around the floor drain and the furnace. I opened the furnace up and saw alot of standing water in the area where the wires were and also in the bottom of the furnace. I turned the thermostat off and called Northern Air. Steve came out and checked everything and immediately knew it was coming from the A/C coil. He told me the water was not draining properly and had to clean out the pipe from the A/C coil that drains into the floor. It was clogged. He also checked the unit on the outside of the house and told me it was doing fine. He removed 3/12 gallons of water that had collected in the furnace and was causing rust to run down the blower motor. It was a real mess. Apparently this had been dripping for a long time. When he tried to pour the water he removed down the basement drain it backed up. He told me I would need to get a plumber to fix it. He was very nice and you could tell he knew what he was talking about. He explained about their maintenance program and left me an agreement if I decided to sign up for the plan. He did not pressure me to take the plan. I was concerned about the condition of the furnace and wanted to talk to a sales consultant to see if I should replace the furnace. I called and scheduled an appointment with Brett. He arrived right on time and checked the furnace and told me it was premature to replace it and that it should be fine, not to worry. When we were in the basement I mentioned the drain and he immediately called a plumber that they use. The plumber told him how to attempt to unclog the drain. If that didn't work then I would have to get a plumber. Brett actually got down on the floor in his nice clean pants and tried to unclog the drain. He couldn't get far enough into the drain through the cover. He said that if I could remove the cover I could try to unclog it. After he left I removed the cover and unclogged the drain. Saved myself over $200. Wow! I was so impressed with the professionalism of both employees of Northern Air and also that I was not pressured to purchase a new furnace. They both went above and beyond what they had to do for me. Especially Brett going the extra step and calling a plumber and trying to unclog the drain himself. Who does that now a days?? You know that I am going to take out that maintenance agreement as soon as I finish this review.
Description of Work: Cleaned clogged drain from A/C coil and removed 3 1/2 gallons of water that had dripped into furnace. Checked A/C unit. Also let me know floor drain was clogged. Also talked to sales consultant about replacing furnace.

I paid cash so there was like a $400 discount. They're excellent. They did a good job. The man who came out here was courteous. He explained things. It did take him a long time. He cleaned up after himself. He laid rugs down so he wouldn't track in. He was considerate of my house. I would recommend them. They have a good reputation it sounds like. We had problems with our heater early on a chilly Sunday morning. We called them at 8:15 and the work was completed by 11:00. There was a weekend charge but that was too be expected and overall the total price was very reasonable. The technician was prompt and courteous. We would definitely call them again

When everything goes smoothly, everyone is usually happy. However, we live in an imperfect world and sometimes things don't go as planned. Perhaps the best measure of a contractor is how they deal with the unexpected. Is this their problem or do they make it the customer's problem? We had central air conditioning installed in our Estes Park summer home. It was the end of the season for us and we were getting ready to leave for our winter home in Florida. We probably shouldn't have waited until the last moment to do this but that's the way it worked out. The sales person from Northern Colorado was helpful and courteous. Although nothing is easy in Estes Park since most of the contractors have to travel from Fort Collins or Loveland, and we were leaving the next week, we were assured that everything could be done before we left. We were planning on leaving on Saturday and the installation was scheduled for Wednesday and the inspection on Friday. The installation went fine although the electrical contractor had problems due to the lack of available"blanks" in our breaker box. To my surprise and consternation, the electrical inspection on Friday morning did not pass. I was very upset when I contacted Northern Colorado. However, they assured me that they would immediately correct the problem and the electrical contractor called me within fifteen minutes to find out the concerns of the inspector. Although the electrical contractor was located about 50 miles from my house, he had a crew at my house within two hours. The issue raised by the inspector was corrected and a follow up inspection scheduled for the following Monday when the installation was approved. Northern Colorado also reimbursed me for my "out of pocket" expenses resulting from my having to fly back to Florida on the following Tuesday as opposed to Monday as planned (airline change fee and extra days on rental car). I am satisfied with my A/C installation and also how the inspection issue was resolved. I feel confident that Northern Colorado stands behind their products and work and that I can rely on them if I need any future service or repairs. I highly recommend this company.

I do not know if he ran the air conditioner for any length of time and checked it for proper cooling down, but I do know that when we turned it on this afternoon around 4 and returned around 7:30 the inside temperature was 80. We turned the thermostat to 76 and 2 hours later the house was still 80. Discovered the compressor kicks on for a short period of time and kicks back off. Very dissatisfied and will absolutely NOT use them again except to hopefully rectify what is not working after their maintenance. We would have been much better off not having maintenance performed as it worked fine up until today.

We have lived in our current home for 12 years. The previous owner bought it new 2 years earlier. The original AC system was marginal at best. If we closed the house up, after having it open for a cool night, the AC would not hold 78° on a 90° day, it wild climb to 80° by 3:00 PM. The original AC was a contractor grade, probably having a SEER of 10 or 11. Though I have always maintained my AC and furnace I decided to have Northern Colorado Air perform biannual maintenance. Since I am an engineer I observed the maintenance and found all technicians be very precise in the inspection, knowledgeable in the system operation, punctual and pleasant to work with. The final report showed all pressures, voltage, amperage, air flow and reported on any items that might need to be watched for future replacement such as a noisy fan or hail damaged condenser fins. They tried everything we could do to help cool the house. We installed roof vents, added insulation, double pane low E glass on South and West windows, ceiling fans and smart thermostat. The cooling was better but would not lower the temperature if called upon to do so. After a hail storm that severely crushed the AC fins and as several other families in the neighborhood with similar problems had done, we decided to go for a complete new system; furnace, condenser, coil and smart thermostat. I asked NCA to quote on a Lennox system. that would cool the house and lower my electric use. (Since the city is changing to a tiered rate I cannot yet determine the cost savings.) The new AC is a SEER of 16 and high efficiency furnace with variable speed fan and variable flame. I asked about a SEER unit of 19 or 21 but NCA said that the cost savings in electricity would not pay for the added cost. On installation day, two technicians arrived and laid out coverings for the floors, and did the grunt work of removing the old system and setting the new system in place. Then the lead technician spend the rest of the day hooking everything up; refrigerant lines to the condenser and coils, power to the condenser and drain lines for the coil. Since this had a 2 speed compressor a new digital thermostat was required which was connected to a digital control box for the inside and outside unit. The high efficiency furnace required outside air for combustion so a new PVC line was run outside as well as a PVC exhaust (since the furnace extracts all of the heat out of the produced moisture the condensed water in the exhaust is corrosive thus the existing galvanized steel exhaust was not useable). Finally, the system was powered up. The technician went though the operation of the thermostat with my wife and me. He stressed that the fan comes on slowly and only runs as fast as is necessary so we will probably not hear the fan unless we are listening for it. I now hear something from my wife that I have never heard in this house in the summer, "I'm cold." The system is so responsive that we are trying to figure out just how cool or warm we want to be.
Description of Work: We had a 14 year old heating and air conditioning system replaced by Northern Colorado Air in Fort Collins, Colorado. We replace it with a Lennox SEER16 air conditioning unit and Lennox high efficiency furnace with variable speed fan and flame output. The technicians were on time, laid out floor coverings over the carpet, and proceeded to remove the old system and install the new system. Due to larger size on the condenser they replaced the concrete pad outside and carefully leveled the unit. Some splicing and brazing was done to connect the unit. New insulation was installed on the refrigerant return line. Inside the system replaced the old unit with exception for some 3" gap in the duct work on the air handler outlet. The technician cut, bent and made an adapter spacer. All joints were checked and sealed with silicone sealant. Several place he added additional sealant from the original installation. After checking the system the technician instructed my wife and me on the operation of the very smart thermostat as well as leaving a small booklet written in English, Spanish and French, on all the various features for controlling the time and temperature for cooling and heating. The technician did everything with skill, knowledge, competence and care. I could not ask any more from an employee. Though the proposal for the system was around $9100 with power company rebates, Lennox rebates, and an insurance claim for the condenser unit, our final installed price was abut $7000. I did not shop around for a price as I had confidence in Northern Colorado Air from the 12 years I had them performing semi annual service. I would definitely recommend them for any HVAC work a person need to have done.
