We are very happy with the finished work. Mike provided several options with various cost levels and the pro/cons of each. We chose the more complete options since we plan to live in the house for many years. But Mike provided lower cost options if we wanted to save on costs. This spec home was built with a carpeted stairway "kit" that was clearly substandard. The entire stairway was removed and re-built from scratch. That was the single biggest component of project. Carpenter Steve was a real craftsman and did an outstanding job with the solid wood stairway with numerous mitered cuts. It looks so much better than before. The solid wood flooring also looks great. Tile in master bath and counters with sinks, new light fixtures also great improvement. We did not seek bids from others since we were primarily concerned with quality workmanship over cost. We felt we could trust Mike to give us quality workmanship at a fair price. We would use him again for any future project. We give him our highest recommendation.
Description of Work: Re-build stairway to upper level replacing carpet stairs with wood, remove half walls and replace with wood / metal railing system. Install tile in master bath, granite countertop / sinks, light fixutures. Main Floor - replace carpet with solid wood flooring, replace baseboard.
Really well. It went on a bit longer than we expected but the quality of the subs was *exceptional* - I would hire any one of them individually for work. I felt Mike was excellent at putting the whole story together and helping us make trade-offs and get what we wanted. The overall solution was pricey. I think everything was done well with first rate materials, but I suspect I could have gotten nearly as good of materials for less. I doubt that I could have got as good of work for any less - I did have a chance to compare bids with a contractor who had done work for a family member. The other contractor's bid was quite a bit cheaper than Mike - but the quality of the work and the overall results were quite a bit lower too.
Description of Work: We used Mike for a major bathroom remodel that included a poured concrete and tiled shower basin, granite counter-tops, new vanity and lighting, tiled floor, paint, glass shower and fixtures, sinks, etc. We didn't change out the toilet or bathtub, everything else went.

The entire project from conception to completion took quite a while, largely because we were unsure of what could be done in the price range. Mike was excellent at sorting through what was important to think about first, what mattered less and the order in which to consider our choices. His bids were the most detailed and thought out of the three that we solicited. He was excellent at helping us understand where cost trade-offs were and what choices we could make to reduce cost. Mike started when he said he would and was as non-disruptive as could be, given it was our master bath being completely demolished and rebuilt. His subs were great and everything went really quite smoothly. The late arrival of lighting delayed the project a bit, but that's largely our fault because at first, we didn't use his recommended vendor for lighting and thus once again, the Lowes curse struck home - wasting our time due to their unforeseen back orders. The final result is excellent, I'm very pleased with the experience and the result. The price was a premium. But he did come in under his estimated budget, so while we paid a lot, it was expected from the start and there were no surprises.
Description of Work: We had a complete remodel of our master bath done. From the entire bathroom suite, we kept only our tub and our mirror, everything else went. This included tiled floors, tiled shower, including a poured concrete/tile basin, custom glass enclosure, all new fixtures, new vanity, new sinks, new toilet, granite counter tops, lights, etc. The project involved plumbing, electrical, cabinetry, tile, hard surfaces and paint.
