Please don't make the same mistake we did. Cerda caused us almost $1,200 worth of damage to our property, and has terrible customer service. For example: They had to reschedule last-minute because they were overbooked. They didn't show up until 4pm on the first designated day of work. They ignored instructions to avoid certain areas of our garden (they ran over plants with a gas auger). They broke our sprinkler line in six places with the auger (resulting in almost $1,000 in direct damages to our sprinklers) and didn't tell us until after the damage was done (we could have found a better solution). They cemented over the breaks in the line-- the resulting pressure broke the back flow attached to the house and cost us $150 in excess utilities (for water usage) that month. It also made repair much more difficult. They left a marked sprinkler head in a post hole and cemented over it, then told me they didn't know what happened to it. They piled the post-hole soil in our side yard, directly on top of our lawn and some flower seedlings. They left food trash in the corner of the yard. When I explained why we were unhappy with the work, and said if we didn't find a mutually agreeable solution then I would have no choice but to leave a bad review online, they accused me of blackmail. They also accused my wife of lying: they said she never said to be mindful of the garden, of being mindful of the sprinklers (which were flagged, but they said they weren't), and that they notified her immediately about the damage to the irrigation line. Etc. They put in a good fence, but it's not worth the emotional and financial hassle. Don't let them near your home.

Response from Cerda Fencing
The homeowners seem to be under the impression that we were running behind schedule. The City Of Fort Collins utility markers made a mistake on the Colorado 811 ticket that was submitted for this address. They thought work had been completed prior to the ticket due date. The homeowners were informed of this two days before excavation was to take place - 6/15 with install occurring 6/17. I spent a lot of time on the phone in order to get the city back out to the address to mark electrical lines. Once these were marked we came to set posts. This job was very small and only needed 10 posts set. This is in June when we routinely work until 8. There was more than enough time to set these posts, so it was not a case of us showing up last minute and rushing the job as the homeowner would like to believe. We also informed them long before installation that they were the second job on the installation dates. Using a gas auger is standard practice, and I am not sure what experience the homeowner has in fencing, but using an 8" bit on an auger and setting posts 2 feet deep is proper installation technique. Anything else does not allow enough concrete to be poured to securely hold the posts. If the homeowner wanted the posts set another way, he should have informed us of that prior to install and we either would have modified our installation or excluded ourselves from the bidding process. The auger we used was a two man auger so it is carried to the area to be dug - leaving the least amount of impact as possible. The hole size would be the same even using the handheld post hole diggers. The sprinkler heads were marked, but this does not tell us in any way where the main line is buried underground. The heads can be any distance away from the mainline - attached with a flexible hose. It is the mainline that we needed to know the location of. This was NOT marked by the homeowner. The homeowner had a survey completed and the mainline was on the property boundary, the heads may not have been in every instance. I apologize for the banana peel and piece of rebar that was left in your wheelbarrow. It is not our practice to leave a messy jobsite behind. I also apologize that they added the dirt removed from the holes that were dug to the soil in the surrounding garden beds. The main problem is that the sprinkler lines were hit. I have explained multiple times via email and on the phone to Mr. [Member Name Removed] the situation as he was not home (the wife was) at the time of installation. We communicated to the wife as soon as we hit the line in the first instance, the wife did not change the install plan or want us to wait. We told you of the problem putting the fence along the property line, but that is where you wanted it to go, so we installed it there for you. We would have rescheduled install if that is what either homeowner would have told us they wanted to do. We also could have just left and billed you for our time that we spent there or moved the fence more inside your property boundary. I received accidental emails from your wife to you on 4/25/16 in which she states the estimate was "much more than we were hoping for". If you wanted a fence on your property, the sprinkler line was going to have to be moved. This entire situation leaves me with the impression that you committed to a fence that was maybe a stretch on your budget and intended to claim sprinkler damage all along. You wanted the fence along the property boundary, we informed you that the line was hit on the first hole, you wanted to proceed with the work, we installed the fence damaging the line as we said would happen after digging the first hole, you complained that the damage was our fault even though we put the fence where you wanted after you were informed of what was below the fence line, we explained ourselves multiple times, you threatened us to either pay for your new line or leave us bad reviews. Clearly my explanations are not enough for this homeowner so other consumers can review this interaction from both sides of the story and use other evidence (our other online reviews and recommendations) to make up their own minds. It is unfortunate that this job went as it did as we do take great pride in providing quality customer service and installation and want our customers to love their new investment. -Cerda Fencing

I contracted Cerda Fencing to remove an old cedear fence and install a new one at one of my rental houses in Fort Collins. The new fence looks great! I've installed several cedar fences in the past and know "good installation work" (or not)-- the fence installed was perfect! Looked great and the quality of wood used and workmanship was top notch. Lindsey kept me informed during the whole process-- from explaining the estimate, coordinating with my neighbors to provide separate invoices, utility delineations, site preparation, and installation. Great Job guys! I will definitely recommend Cerda Fencing to others.
Description of Work: Removed old 6-ft high cedar fence and installed a new 6-ft cedar fence (with gates). About 200 linear feet (the cost of two of the three sides was shared with neighbors-- So, $3822 was not the total cost of the fence- just my share). Also, installed three 4-ft wide gates.

Description of Work: They were responsive and very professional. Unfortunately our schedule did not work - they were booked out about a month and my schedule did not allow me to wait that long so I had to find someone else at the last minute. In all fairness, they did give me a heads up on that when we started talking.

Scheduled for 8am. No show. No call. Then at 3pm, the wash tech shows up. No call, just says, "sorry I gob busy". No call. I decide to cancel based on lack of response for staining, I paid 525 down for 50% for a wash / stain. They say too bad for you, no refund. Grade F. ***Response... the company did NOT offer a contract, only an estimate which they act like is a contract. Sorry, an estimate is not a contract. The company stated they would be at my house at 8:00am to power wash my fence. No call, no show, then 3pm comes around and they show up. There was to 'time frame', only "We'll be there at 8:00 am" and no show. Poor service, unresponsive (they should have the common business sense to call and say 'we're going to be late', need to actually make contracts. I requested a refund, pait $525 for 1/2 of the ESTIMATE, they quoted the wash as $350. They said, sorry we'll keep the rest. I'll follow up with a BBB report as well. My advice, go with another A+ BBB rated compnay, ANYONE who will return your calls, show up when they say, and work with their customers. They did do a good power wash..... WHEN THEY FINALLY SHOWED UP!!!!

I am sorry you are not satisfied with the service you were provided. Per your time line we fit you in and showed up on July 4th to power wash your fence. At that time you entered into a written and signed contract whereby we were authorized to complete the washing and staining of your fence. You had a date for washing and a subsequent date that we would stain your fence. You cancelled less than one week before the staining citing family issues. I offered to reschedule the staining or to let you out of the contract with no penalty which cost us money because you chose a custom stain color that was already purchased. You emailed me stating to just call it even because according to your email dated August 1st, "After talking with my wife, we'll just call it even since ya'll did excellent work." There was no mention that we were not being responsive to requests, and there were no requests. The schedule for completing the job and the specifications (color, amount, etc) were all set prior to the July 4th date. I am sorry we were not able to meet your expectations as we always try to make our fence work a professional and optimal experience all around.

Showed Alex a photo of a custom fence we liked and he created it including all details! What a crew, Jeff a new member was outstanding. Alex' wife Lindsey sets the appointments and is so accommodating. We had to change our install date and they worked us back into their busy schedule.

Description of Work: Cerda Fencing came to my house to rehang the gate on our fence that had been blown off at least a dozen times. The price quote we were first given when he arrived was about twice what we expected to pay, but my husband did a little negotiating and got the price to where we were both okay with it. I have to say the work they did was exceptional - the gate is really sturdy and looks fantastic. Their prices might be a bit higher, but the quality of their work is superior to anyone else who has worked on our fence - it is definitely worth it!

Through the website I scheduled a date and time for them to come over and give me a quote. I never heard from them to confirm the date and time. I called them to confirm and they scheduled a different time, which was fine. They were supposed to come at 6 pm and by 6:30 pm they still had not arrived. I didn't hear from them until 6:40 pm when they called and stated that they weren't going to make it. I had to make changes to my schedule and left work early to make this appointment, all for nothing. I understand that things happen however, they could have called me sooner. If you don't have enough staff to cover the appointments you make, don't make so many appointments. I'm sure they wouldn't have been happy if they came all the way here and I wasn't home and didn't call to let them know.

Description of Work: I've been a professional home builder and remodeler in New York for over 30 years, so when I decided to surprise my daughter and her family out in Colorado with a new fence, I wanted to find someone there who I felt I could trust to do a good job. I was impressed with Cerda's reviews on Angie's List and with their own website. Phone conversations with owner Lindsey gave me further confidence in them. | |The work was done promptly, as stated, and the quality was superb. Lindsey's husband Alex and crew were neat and professional in everything, and it was obvious the pride he took in the finished product. Needless to say, my daughter is thrilled to have "the nicest fence in the neighborhood" now, and I am relieved I made the right choice of contractor. Also, I feel the price was fair for the quality of work done. All in all, a very positive experience. Highly recommended! George | |Some photos at: https://cerdafence.shutterfly.com/pictures/14

I met with three contractors for my fence project and easily selected Cerda Fencing for my project. Not only did Cerda Fencing offer the most reasonable proposal, but they were definitely the most professional both in person and over the telephone. Being a fussy homeowner, I appreciated office manager Lindsy's patience with my many questions prior to locking in the proposal. Alex and crew were on time, very professional and certainly masters at fence building. The fence was completed on time with no problems concerning materials or labor. No debris was left in my yard from the project and it looks like the fence has always been in place. I would highly recommend Cerda Fencing to anyone who wants/needs fence installation services.

New gate is a big improvement over old one. Used three sturdy hinges instead of just two and a much larger and more solid post. The new gate was also better constructed then the old one which was only two years old. Job was done over three days to allow cement post to set up. Very professional job and easy to get quote and line up work. Came as promised, hauled away dirt from new hole, cleaned up area and looks great. Price was comparable to original job that someone else did but was of a higher quality.

I was very pleased with the work, and experience using Cerda Fencing. I had brought out 3 other companies, but Cerda came back with the most reasonable proposal, and expressed the most interest in wanting to do the work. They were very careful working around the existing trees/shrubs/bushes, and took a lot of care during installation. They kept to the schedule we originally agreed to, and were even able to finish work a day early. The fence looks great, and I am very pleased with the hard work Cerda put in to completing the job. We will be enjoying for years to come, and I would definitely recommend working with Cerda for any similar fencing project.

Alex was great to work with. He adjusted timelines to fit my needs. He communicated as needed and followed through on his word. He works hard and delivers very high quality. This is a much stronger fence than you will get with pickets from Home Depot. I LOVE this fence! Alex used one other worker for the fence removal and setting the posts (all in one day), then did most of the rest of the work with one worker. Aside from the fence, one sprinkler head needed to be moved about 2 inches, which he took care of, but he also went above and beyond by locating and fixing a pre-existing big leak in my sprinkler system that we discovered while doing the fence work (it was under the shed...).
