Very good job. They may not be the least expensive, but they are the most experienced if you really care about the health of your tree.

They did a great job. Punctual, professional and courteous. All of the business dealings were with my wife, I simply made the contact. She absolutely praises their business ethics and methods which makes me happy I called!!!!

We had, like many others in Greeley, gotten a substantial amount of tree damage from an early-season wet snow the previous fall. There were many large limbs down including a huge one from a neighbor's overhanging tree. We had worked on the mess as we could, but finally approximately mid-September we contacted Newell Bros. realizing that there was not a lot more we could do ourselves because of physical issues. They did a thorough assessment of the issues before suggesting a plan of action. They gave us a reasonable estimate to trim a maple in our front yard, remove a dying and very overgrown juniper from the front yard, and "regenerate" most of the shrubs on our property. Newell Brothers did the work promptly and very well, and much to our surprise (and relief) cleared out not only the debris they generated but also the debris that had fallen during the storm which we were unable to move ourselves. They had recommended we contact the city forestry service about the portion of the neighbor's tree that over hangs our yard, which appears to have nearly killed one of the bunch aspen/birch trees. We weren't able to get a response from the city, so we have just contacted Newell Bros to make a return trip. I rated the price a B primarily because I have nothing with which to compare it. It probably was quite a reasonable price for all they did, but I really don't know.

After excellent service last year I called Newell Bros. again this year and I am again pleased with the results. The junipers were removed quickly and the area was left very clean. During the removal a sprinkler line was cut (not real surprising since the area was quite overgrown) but they made the repair and all is good. The tree to be trimmed was in our fenced back yard and required them to remove a portion of the fence to gain access to the tree. The trimming was very well done and we have received compliments on how nice it looks. It took longer than I would have liked for the fence to be put back up, but it I know this is a very busy time of year for them (and all tree services) and the delay was understood. The tree that was planted was actually a replacement of the tree they planted last year--that one did not make it through the winter -- and without any hesitancy at all they removed the dead tree and replaced it with a new one. Matt has always been very helpful in explaining what would be done, why he was doing it that particular way, and telling me what to expect as a result of their work. Although I might have preferred that no sprinkler line was cut, all replanted trees lived, and fences immediately popped back up, I understand that work does not always progress in line with my preferences. Where I am less tolerant is in my belief that when problems occur they are handled quickly, efficiently, and without excuses. Newell Bros.has provided me with that type of service.

We were so pleased to finally have a tree service company answer the phone, we went with their estimate without looking into competitors. Little did we know that it would go downhill from there. The estimate and actual work were months apart. We weren't expecting that. We got no notice that they were coming. They didn't bother to ring the doorbell to let us know they were there or to verify what we wanted done. They filled our driveway with their equipment without giving us a "heads up" in case we needed to access our vehicles in the garage. They performed the work that was quoted on the first half of the estimate, but left without verifying if we were satisfied with the work done. We weren't. I called to ask them to come back and cut more out of the trees, which they did, but it was not aesthetically pleasing. They were to perform the second half of our estimate during their "off season". Not knowing exactly when that would be, we were patient when month after month went by without any communication. Finally, I believe in January we received a message on the answering machine telling us they were going to be at our house the next day, but could come "this afternoon" if we called them. It was inconvenient to us, so we called back two days later when it was. At this point, they want the contact information for our neighbor so that they could access the neighbors yard with their truck to cut out our cottonwood in the backyard. We told them it wouldn't work anyway as there are stacks of firewood and miscellaneous junk throughout the yard. The estimator said he'd have to come back and give us a new estimate. We have not heard from them since.

As others have noted in their reviews, Newell Bros. was professional and courteous enough to return my initiial call. One of the owners came and gave me an estimate a few days later, and I agreed to the price at that time. He was very pleasant and professional. I have had other companies either not return my call or never return to do the work, even after I accepted their bid. The work was done about two weeks after the estimate was accepted. This was a few days longer than was originally projected, but it was not a problem. I received a call a day or two ahead of time to make sure I was agreeable with the time they intended to do the work. The crew showed up punctually and performed the work in about 3 hours using a crane lift truck. That same day the stump removal was handled separately with a different piece of specialized equipment. There were no problems, and the work appears to have been done in a very professional way. My only disappointment was that the crew left my double-wide gate standing open. I had unfastened it so that they could bring the stump grinder into the yard, but we had to leave town before they were completely finished with the job in order to depart on a two-day trip. The crew promised to shut the gate when they were through, but when we returned from out of town it was wide open, exposing one side of our property. I recommend remaining at home through the entire job process to make sure there are no loose ends. Billing was efficient, with an accurate invoice arriving about a week after the job was completed. Payment was possible either by check or credit card.

After the major storm last fall I knew it would be necessary to have trees trimmed, and at least one removed, this spring. Since I always see their trucks and equipment around Greeley, I thought of Newell Bros. immediately; but figured they would be too busy to get to my job in a timely manner. I called four of the tree service companies in the Greeley/Evans area that were well reviewed at Angie’s List. Only one of the four even bothered to return my call and the fourth didn’t show up to give me an estimate when they promised. Finally, I went back to my Newell Bros. idea. The phone was answered immediately, Matt came out to provide an estimate two days later as promised, and the work was done within a few days of what they originally estimated (about 5 weeks after the estimate because of their heavy workload—but not bad since I’m still waiting for three other companies to return my call). The work was done to my satisfaction and I will be calling only Newell Bros. in the future.
