 + -1 moreWashing machine started to short circuit and we couldn't figure out why. Not only did they come to inspect our Samsung front-load washer, they also researched the history of this type of machine prior to the appointment to understand the problem. It turns out that our particular machine (so far) was probably shorting due to a manufacturer provided surge protector that had worn out. The $79 cost for the service visit was well earned. I am very impressed with this company and will definitely use them again for large appliance repair needs.
Description of Work: Checked Samsung 2007 Front Load Washer electrical components. Checked Samsung dryer for air flow.

 + -1 moreI have used them since I moved here. They’ve always been very good and reliable. They have been fair price-wise and they’ve been fine. I had them do a repair a long time ago and the following year I had the same problem; they didn’t charge me the second time. That was really nice.
Description of Work: I use Columbine Appliance for appliance repair. I had to buy a new refrigerator and they installed it. The installation was part of the purchase price. I called them one other time and it was a warranty item so I didn’t have to pay for it.

 + -1 moreOur In-sinkerator Insta-hot faucet broke and was still under warranty. Columbine Appliance was the approved repair company. Terry came out to look at the issue. Instead of trying to fix it he ask if it was under warranty. When I said "yes" he packed up and said he would order a new one, never even trying to repair the old one. A week and a half later he returned with a new faucet. He began compaining the minuite he got to the sink. The sink was too deep he said and I would have to get a plumber to put this in. Of course once he got going it was quite simple to replace. I was frustrated at his lack of effort both in trying to repair the first faucet and then in replacing the second. He had a very lazy attitude and I hope to never have to use his services again.

 + -1 moreGave me the option of new I/M ($374) or pay service charge and he would apply cost toward new part within 6 weeks if his fix did not keep icemaker working. So far, the I/M is performing normally.
Description of Work: Ice maker in SubZero 738 had not been operating for approx. one week. Had to wait three days for service call, but tech examined all parts and manually restarted icemaker.

 + -1 moreThey supposedly came out and they said they fixed it but when we arrived, it still fell all the way back to the floor. We called them and they said they fixed it and that we would have to pay them for the previous visit first. I told them I would not pay them until it was fixed and they now refuse to come out.
Description of Work: We had purchased a house with an old dishwasher needing to be fixed. The real estate agent set up with this company to come out and fix the door to the dishwasher.

 + -1 moreStove had been smelling a little gassy. The guy came promptly, was courteous, and did find a small gas leak and one other problem. Was able to fix them right away. I did not call around for other prices so cannot comment on the cost. But things smell better in here now! I was happy with the experience.
Description of Work: I had been smelling a small amount of natural gas around my stove. Service person found small gas leak and also determined that the igniter for the oven should be replaced.

 + -1 moreThe technician cleaned the stove before testing the pilot. He told us we needed to buy a $500 part in order for it to work, then he charged us $129 for the cleaning. Later a different technician from a different company fixed the stove by installing a $38 part. I later spoke with the service manager of Columbine Appliance and he agreed to refund me the $129, but this was after we had ordered a new stove for approximately $3,000. In other words, because of a technician's mistake, we incurred a high expense that was unnecessary. I also think the Columbine technician should have checked the pilot before cleaning our stove.
Description of Work: They checked my free-standing gas stove/place, cleaned it and attempted to light the pilot light.

 + -1 moreThe igniter on our gas stove was replaced by Columbine Appliance abt 18 mos ago so when the same symptoms occured we contacted them to replace it again. The repair person was scheduled to arrive between 11:30 and 1:30 pm (we told them that we needed to be elsewhere at 2 pm). They called and said that the repair person would be late... and yes, he was. He came at approx 3:30. Since we had this problem before there was no diagnosis and he immediately confirmed the ignitor problem and the fact that the igniter wiring was loose. He replaced the igniter and was finished 25 minutes later. The part cost about $80 and the labor was about $154. That's $154 for 25 minutes of work and trip charge (we're less than 10 minutes from Columbine Appliance). Given that we knew what the problem was, we thought that we were overcharged but the repair person said that they work on a fee schedule and it is what it is... Way overpriced!
Description of Work: Gas oven igniter replaced and loose wiring repaired.

I've used Columbine before, and wasn't unhappy with their service, but found another appliance guy I liked better, more inspired, always available, loved his work, took care of me pretty well. He retired a year or so back, so it was just a matter of time before I was going to need somebody else (I have a handful of rental properties.) Columbine is fine, honest, and reliable.
Description of Work: I have a KitchenAid Superba fridge that wasn't keeping food cold. It's needed regular defrosting for a while, sometimes once a month, sometimes more frequently. I'd also switched out my icemaker, on my own, and there were problems there - my fault. (I shorted it out while defrosting.) The freezer drain was clogged. He did a major defrost, cleaned the drain and switched a few parts on the icemaker. Three trips total, one for the defrost/drain, and two for the icemaker parts (the second part he missed the first time around). It stopped cooling over the next few days after the defrost..the first defrost wasn't thorough enough, with the bad icemaker contributing to the ice buildup. He came the day I called, and re-defrosted the vent that had iced up again. Two weeks later, it's working great, so I'm happy, overall. No extra charge for the extra trips. I'm keeping my fingers crossed - the fridge is only 3 or 4 years old and I was ready to junk it.

Description of Work: The cabinets around our built in oven/stove have become damaged. Before submitting a claim to the cabinet company we wanted an independent appliance repair service to check the oven and its installation.  + -1 moreVery well. Naturally we weren't happy to have to pay $200 for something that we were going to replace, but the service man was thorough, careful not to damage or dirty the kitchen, a good communicator and did only what was necessary.
Description of Work: Refrigerator stopped working shortly before we were going to replace it due to remodeling, so we didn't want to invest more than necessary.

 + -1 moreThere is a mandatory $69 minimum charge to look at the first appliance. Additional appliances are a minimum $39. I paid $150 to find out that the fridge is normal. It would take $300 to fix the range and $300 to fix the dryer. No repairs were done. Meyers Appliance in Longmont has similar rebuilt dryers for $200 with new heating elements and rollers.
Description of Work: They checked on hot spots on the refrigerator, two burners not working on electric stove, dryer squealing, and problems with heating element.

 + -1 moreVery pleasant workman who was a little late but called to make sure that was okay. Knew what the problem was right away and had all parts on hand to fix it right away. Cleaned up after he was done.
Description of Work: The switch to the gas fireplace was not turning on the fireplace. The workman fixed the problem and cleaned the fake logs and replaced vermiculite.
