ACKERMAN PAINTING PERFECTIONS

We called 3 different painters to get estimates, and Ackerman's was able to come the next day for a quote. The other two businesses couldn't come for about a week. We were very happily surprised with the quote from Ackerman's so we decided to forgo the other estimates so we could get started right away. We were a little disappointed that we didn't get a call back to schedule the painting to start for over a week, but the final result was worth the wait. There was a crew of 3 guys that worked on our house. The first day, they powerwashed the outside and taped up the windows and doors (we actually had a hard time getting into the house that night when we got home because everything was taped shut). Over the course of the next 3 days, they painted our house with the 3 colors we had selected (a primary, trim, and accent color). We were very happy with the finished product, and we've gotten several compliments on the quality of the paint job. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ackerman's.

Mark is a really nice fellow. He helped me figure out what I wanted to do in terms of colors and whether to paint the brick or not, and that was really useful. I was having a hard time deciding what I wanted to do. The painting was done by another really nice fellow, named Ron, I think. He was here when he said he would. He worked slowly and carefully and did a very nice job. He was extremely pleasant to have around. A few months later, I noticed that the paint is peeling off of the soffit vents, and I just got around to calling Mark about it (8 months after they painted). He was here within an hour to look at it, and said it's definitely under warranty, and he'll have Ron come back out to fix them. He's not sure why they are peeling, but it's no problem. I have no doubt that Ron will come and fix it. Their price was lower than either of the other 2 bids I got, and they were nicer and more helpful. One painter (Tammy Maurer) wouldn't talk with me about her ideas on colors unless I hired her for the job or if I paid her a lot (can't remember how much) per hour to consult. Actually, she had thrown out an idea when she was here, but I wanted clarification from her later. When I emailed and asked her to tell me again what she had said, that was her response. My house is transformed and it looks terrific! I'd hire Ackermann Painting again anytime and wholeheartedly recommend them!

Many (20?) years ago I had a good experience with this company but a year or so ago I recommended them to a friend and that friend was very dissatisfied. I brought this to the owner's attention when I contacted him about painting my house for me this year. He remembered my friend's issue and stated that he had taken that crew off of the type of job my friend had done. I decided to give him another chance since he seemed so anxious to prove that the quality would be to my standards. Well - the crew did not show up the day they were supposed to start work. They spray painted over bolts on a stair landing that should have been taped. Edges of the paint are now cracking and peeling (after 4 months). Masking tape was left on several small items when they left. There is tape on the bottom of the door to the bathroom that is making the door drag. The weather stripping in the front door was removed for them to paint nad they did not replace it -- leaving about a 1/4" gap around the door for air and dirt to come in the house. I don't believe the owner checked up on the crew while they were there or inspected the job when it was finished or he would have seen the problems and had them corrected. The job is not "terrible" insofar as all of the surfaces that were to be painted are painted but the lack of attention to the details really disappointed me.

Initial request exterior painting, later realized interior needed painting also. Schedule for exterior was 4 weeks out, but he fit interior into schedule and began the next week. I requested work begin in upper level to schedule flooring contractors the following week. On receipt of deposit, he felt job duration 1 week. He verbally reiterated from contract "there would be no paint where it does not belong". Job took 3 weeks of frustration and I finished the work myself. Work was not done in order agreed causing rescheduling 3 times with contractors. Mark did not supervise work or follow up on check list of outstanding items. Closets unpainted & trim missed, lost wall plate hardware. At one point he told me to call the employee about unfinished work. Paint was everywhere; in sinks, on carpet, lighting fixtures, tile floors, windows, wall plates, mirrors. I did not use him for the exterior and hired another painter that started and finished the job before Ackerman finished the interior.

I think the owner Mark and his crew did a good job on my home. They completed the job in a timely manner. They were a little late arriving, but the work was satisfactory. They did what they said they would do and I would use him again.
