Our original "quote" was for $35,000. I still feel robbed that we ended up paying $29,000. Our experience with this company was horrible and I hope I can keep others from falling in to the same trap. There were so many errors along the way. My wife was on top of them, catching most of the mistakes and setting them in their ways. I guess they didn't appreciate us catching their mistakes, and ultimately they decided to "part ways" without completing the job. Here's what went wrong... 1 - we reqeusted the new irrigation system be attached to the new lot's address. Since the Denver Water company charges exponentially per 1,000 gallons of water used, we would save approximately $300 a month on our water bill by having two water bills, one per address. This was clearly explained in our initial consultation. Someone in Thunderbird decided they would ignore our request and attach the new irrigation system to our oringial address. By the time we came home, our existing front lawn was ripped apart to lay the new irrigation pipes. So now, since all the water is coming off one line our monthly water bill is $500-$600!! If it was done as we had asked, our bill would total about $150. Thanks Thunderbird!! 2 - We tried to build an extension of an exisitng brick wall. They did a good job matching the brick, but could not seem to match the capstones. Rather than actually going to pick out the stones personally, the "project manager" continued to order the wrong ones. In the end, we now have a brick wall with no cap stones. Looks horrible...and Thunderbird is gone!!! 3 - at least one third of the sod died within a month. Horrible brown spots. At least Thunderbird came back to replace some of the patches...I give them credit for that. But, overall our grass looks horrible, containing many brown spots. Their response..."it will look OK next year". I'm skeptical...but if it looks good next year I'll eat my words. 4- Extremely poor drainage. One of the points we epmhasized in the beginning was that we wanted the property sloped correctly to facilitate drainage. Guess what...this didn't happen. Now we have severe flooding...to the point where four of the trees planted are now dead. Guess what again...we were never offered new trees. They built the irrigation, programmed the sprinkler system...did everything. But somehow it was our fault the trees are dead. Since placing a similar poor review on another site, we have received several calls from similar unhappy customers. My recommendation is not to use this company!! I don't suspect they will be around much longer now that I've heard from many others what poor quality work they do. To Thunderbird: I know you know who we are. I'm sure the owners are good salesmen and not malicious people. The problem is that the projects get pawned off on employees who are not responsible, don't know what they are doing, and when confronted with their mistakes will blame the client and leave the job unfinished. The owners should be more involved in the project and NEED TO BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR EMPLOYEES MISTAKES. And if there is a problem with a particular project manager (Dustin) that manager should be removed from the job and the owners should step in. Don't think for a second it is acceptable to blame anything on the client!!! This is all on you. Thunderbird knows about our problems...and have never reached out to us to find an acceptable compromise. Total radio silence... response to thunderbird response..... I appreciate your position in that the work performed at our property is not indicative of your company's usual work. However, it still stands that we paid A LOT of money to be the one job that fell by the wayside. When you say in your response that my post detailed situations and issues that our company would never "be involved in or leave unattended", this really disturbs me...because YOUR COMPANY WAS THE ONLY ONE HERE. Your response doesn't make sense... if your goal is customer satisfaction, please contact me and refund some of our money. By the way...all the mulch you brought in was infected with onion weed and the grass and trees are alomst all dead. even though this may be the "lone" negative review on this site, I've spoken to several other dissatisfied customers....I guess I'll suggest to them to post here as well..... ANNUAL UPDATE: September 2012 I've attached a picture of our lawn one year later. I wish I could respond to the other member's comments regarding a "guarantee" of the lawn. I guess we were not fortunate enough to benefit from the "guarantee". We did everything we could do (through a very respectable lawn care company) to keep the grass alive. I feel silly still watering it, but I still am.... please see the picture... I think it speaks for itself.

I met these guys at a Home Show I was working at and it was actually by accident that I called them. I meant to contact another company that I had met at the Home Show. But I think faith brought us together because Adam and Chase and the rest of Thunderbird Design have been fantastic. Our budget was small at $5k with big plans to completely overhaul our backyard. Several of the companies I had called never called back when they found out that we were working with a $5k budget. But Adam from Thunderbird Design called me back immediately and I was very impressed by their willingness to work with us on such a small budget. Adam scheduled an appointment and was on time and gave us a beautiful design which was delivered to us also on time. With a $5k budget, we were planning to do our backyard in stages but upon seeing the full backyard plan, we decided it would be worth it for us to take out a $5k loan and do the whole thing at $10k budget. Adam answered all our questions and met with us several times to go over the design and make any changes, additions, etc. Adam was very easy to get a hold of via phone or by email. The guys came out and executed the design and completed the project in 4 days! It was really amazing to see our backyard transform from dead grass and weeds as tall as my head to this beautiful design of circular paver stone patio, red CO flagstone walkways, and various plants in 8 different garden beds. These guys also warrantee the plants they put in for a full year. Now our backyard is the highlight of our home. I will attach a photo to this soon. We definitely plan to keep in touch with Thunderbird Design as they offer sprinkler maintenance service, bulb planting, etc. It was an easy, painless, awesome experience. I would definitely recommend them to friends, family, and fellow members of Angie's List.

THE LANDSCAPING IN MY YARD LOOKS BEAUTIFUL. THE COLOR I HAVE HAD THROUGHOUT THE YEAR IN MY YARD EXCEEDED ALL OF MY EXPECTATIONS. I HAVE RECEIVED A NUMBER OF COMPLIMENTS FROM PEOPLE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD.
