Stellar Painting & Remodeling

Everything went fine. The work done looks good. The only problem was with scheduling. They seemed to be overbooked a bit.

Working with Jack is great. He is honest, and very responsive. The quality is good and the price is very competitive. I will use stellar remodeling again in the future.

Company representative arrived on time, asked questions about what needed to be done, but did not submit a bid after inspecting the job.

For the most part, the work went really well. The work took place in an older building, and the walls and corners of the kitchen weren't plumb, so Dan struggled to get the Ikea cabinets to fit correctly. However, he glued and pinned them all to make them sturdy enough to hold a granite counter-top without wobbling, and even fabricated a nice glass-fronted fill-in cabinet to fit in an odd space. That said, the work took a bit longer than expected. By contrast, the work in the bathrooms was, quite simply, superb. We went with 1950s style subway tile with some decorative additions, and Dan made sure that turned out beautifully. One bathroom required the construction of a new tiled top for a vanity, and demolition of both revealed some really questionable work done in the past. Dan described the problems found, recommended a good solution, and implemented it. As a result, the bathroom work was outstanding. The job also required laying some new flooring, and that part proved a bit problematic. I chose inexpensive bamboo flooring that flexed a lot in Colorado's dry climate. Also, it lay on bare concrete, which made it hard to pin in place. That part of the job didn't go as well as the rest. I also had them replace a very poorly-done interior french door with a sliding barn door. That required some drywall work, paint and some electrical. That turned out better than expected, and I was quite pleased. As I look back, I'd say the work went as well as could be reasonably expected, given the circumstances, while the bathroom work qualifies as simply outstanding. I'd recommend this firm, with the following qualifications: 1. In an older building, go with traditional wooden cabinets instead of tightly-engineered pressed-board. It gives these guys the flexibility they need to finish the work quickly, and they're more comfortable with the old-school technology. Talk to them about the cabinets they recommend, before buying anything. I didn't do that, and it would have been better if I had. 2. If you need any tile-work done, anywhere, specifically request Dan. The work will turn out very well, indeed. It's his favorite part of the job, and you can tell. 3. For flooring work, again go old-school, with real hardwood and tile. The inexpensive bamboo I used didn't work well, while hardwood would have been, once again, easier for them.

AWESOME! Team was great, timely, and professional. Results impressive (all my neighbors who still have popcorn a wee bit jealous), and they cleaned up everything when done. Home feels brand new!

Very professional. There was some delay in getting the color consultant in, but these guys are very efficient, on time, and high quality.

It went very well! Guy Miller and his team were very timely with the work and showed up when they stated they would. The work areas were cleaned thoroughly at the end of each day, and the crew was very polite. At the end of the job they did a walk through with me at our home, and they retouched every area I pointed out, that same day. The walk-through/retouch was very important to me cause when the paint is first applied it looks perfect but then after it dries and you see the lighting change through the balance of the day, a few areas became apparent that I wanted touched up. I was considerate of their time and made sure I pointed out each specific area during the walk-through, so that they could complete the touch ups on the same day with one visit. I have nothing but GOOD comments to say about Stellar Painting & Remodeling! I'd highly recommend them to anyone whether the job is big or small, and interior or exterior! Regards, Norm

I would highly recommend Stellar! Guy is responsive, experienced, and meticulous. His crew did a fantastic job and stand behind their work. We have a tall 2-story with cedar siding. Several contractors wouldn't even give me a bid due to the height of the house. Stellar was very competitive on the price and did fantastic work. Great job!

Excellent work quality. Price matched the quote. Finished quickly and painters were polite and professional. Kept work area clean.

I did not get the service(yet) due to it being my roommate' house so he is planning to wait on it. The experience with Jack was great. He came on time, is extremely knowledge and most importantly, is a honest about what needs to be done.

The prep was amazing. My floors, big furniture, stairs, stair railings and ceiling fixtures were very well protected by plastic and butcher paper. They spent a lot of time ensuring all was covered before they even bought the paint! Thank you for a very good job.

It took a little bit longer than expected, but we are happy with the work, and the estimate was accurate.

After the interior work was done I noticed a few spots that they missed the next morning after the light hit them. Called Stellar to come back out (our painter told us to just call if he missed anything). That was 10 months ago and multiple attempts at calling and leaving messages and the work still hasn't been done. In addition to this I noticed that exterior paint was blistering and now I have bubbles forming on my cabinets. Finally managed to get someone to come out in early December and he agreed that the work was under warranty and he would have his scheduler call to confirm, never did receive a phone call and then called them back middle of December. Was told that they would come out the following Monday, no crew ever showed up. Decided to try one last time before writing this review and a crew was supposed to come out this coming Monday (1/9/17) but never heard from them. So as usual I have to be the one to reach out and was told that it would now be Tuesday. I would stay away from this company as they are only interested in the initial job and their follow up and warranty work is a joke. I believe my issues were caused by poor paint prep and cutting corners to get the work done quickly. Kudos to those who have received good service from Stellar but I will never use them again.

So-so. The tile folks never showed up when they said they would, they used the wrong color grout on the shower floor. The project was to take 3 days, it took over 2 weeks. Stellar was to repair the drywall in the ceiling but when it came down to doing the work they realized it hadn't been put in the quote and wanted to charge an additional $400+ to complete the job...and blamed me for not having noticed it in the quote. The work was done, I can't say it was to my satisfaction but at least I have a functional shower again. On the up side, all of the folks that came to my home to do the work were very nice and respected me and my home. If you decide to go with Stellar be sure your quote is 100% correct, and still expect change orders, they charged me $56 to cut down my bathroom door, a task that took 10 minutes which they did without my approval. Keep them on a schedule or be willing to be "worked in" when they can. A small project can take weeks more than it needs if you don't. I would use Stellar again but only if I had ample time to wait for the work to be done and pour over the quotes line by line.

very well! The initial price estimate was where most of the miscommunication happened, so you just need to make sure you record or are very careful with the one who comes out to do the estimates that everything is clear as to what the job is. Also, there is some lag on communication, but none of this is so serious that I wouldn't recommend them.

Stellar Painting did a fantastic job on our house! We were referred to Stellar by a friend after we got some outrageous quotes by a couple of other paint companies. One was just outlandish as far as I'm concerned - national, larger paint chain who works around the Denver Metro area. So we gave Stellar a call and so glad we did. Their rates were more affordable and everyone was very courteous, responsive and professional. The crew lead for our paint crew, Hugo, was great! He and his crew were quick, efficient, always on time, cleaned and made our house look awesome!! We had absolutely no problems from the estimate to completion. The whole process was done in about a week and a half. We had a window of nice weather and Stellar was great about moving really quickly to finish it for us before it got cold. Pretty paint just in time for guests over the holidays! I will not hesitate to recommend Stellar Painting to anyone I know who is looking for quality, affordable painting.

Let me just begin saying we did not end up going with Stellar. I did choose to get a quote based on reviews here and the website pictures. I didn't receive a call back after my initial call (things happen), so I called back. The salesman called me and we scheduled our appt. He called the week prior to my appt to try an move our time up which was great but we were not available. He told me he had a cancellation due to the fact the "inconsiderate" person didn't call and let him know, they just didn't show up. Yes, that is inconsiderate but you shouldn't as a salesperson speak negatively about another customer. So I let that go too, he came out, I had to leave to take our sick son to the doctor so my husband met with him. My husband impression was that only the salespersons felt his own ideas were best. He told us that the quote would take 3 weeks, we weren't in a rush but that seemed a bit long. The quote came back just over a week so that was good. The quote was in line with others we had. We were trying to decide the best time to start the remodel and also waiting on another quote so we didn't contact Stellar right away which yes is my fault. I did email later to say we still had not made a decision but would contact him either way when we did. I received a voice mail from him 5 days later saying I was following up as I haven't heard from you. He stated that he had called me the week before but I have never received that message. His message said... " I guess I'm going to have to assume you're not interested and you're not going to bother to tell me that. Would've been nice if you would've just called and said hey we are going to do something different. I spend a lot of time putting proposals together and it's always nice to at least get an acknowledgment from the customer that they appreciated me spending the time. But it looks like you're not going to be able to do that so I'm not going to bother you with any more phone calls and leaving you messages unless I hear back from you. I wish you a wonderful day" So glad he wished me a wonderful day after leaving a rude message that now I was being inconsiderate. I emailed him again, forwarding the email I previously sent him letting him know I had been in touch and I wouldn't be using his company. Again, I can't vouch for their work but based on the initial experience with this salesperson they lost a large remodel job, maybe the outcome may have been different with another person. I did email the owner and he was apologetic.

The work that the crew from Stellar Painting did was nothing short of spectacular. From the time we had our first walk through with Guy, to the pre meeting where we went through our responsibilities (moving furniture, art, etc.), to the actual painting, the crew Stellar was very professional, courteous, and meticulous in their work. They prepared every working space to protect the necessary areas (carpet, wood floors, tile, and furniture, etc.) which made us feel very protected with their tasks and our personal effects. The end result throughout the house is stunning and the their extra efforts made the transformation to our new home one of the best experiences we have had as a family. I would highly recommend Stellar Painting and would be happy to accept any reference calls or emails. JohnB

Overall the projects went very well. The service was excellent and the team was very flexible in my ever-changing requirements. Cabinet installation was great and tiling was very professional. We worked based on time and materials, so any changes were easily accommodated. I also like that Jack was open to allowing me to source my own materials or help me provide suppliers when needed.

Contacted via the Angie's List website and was contacted within a day to discuss my needs. Was then contacted by Jack Wilson to set up an appointment to come by and discuss details. Jack was very professional, listened to my wants and needs and had great ideas and examples of what they would be able to do and stories of his past experience. He made measurements and worked with the cabinet supplier to get some computer renderings to give me an idea of how it would all fit together. Once I agreed with that layout he quickly provided a quote for labor and granite (I worked with cabinet & tile companies separately but they work with Stellar a lot so it was very easy communications between all parties). This being my first big remodel project I had a lot of questions on how things would work, who would do what, expectations, etc. and Jack was VERY responsive to every little question I had. (I usually corresponded via email and he would always answer by the end of the day). Once I accepted the quote and a crew was available (Mike and Travis) then the work began. They always communicated expectations for the day, put up plastic to reduce dust (as much as possible) and always cleaned up at the end of each day. They were courteous, professional, and the quality of work was excellent!! One surprise was that they were only on-site about 4-5 hours each day which wasn't set as an expectation, so I feel it might have extended the project completion time a little. This is an older house and the walls and ceiling are FAR from square, but Mike's cabinet skills are second to none! So the final product makes it worth a little extra time. We did have a couple issues with initial measurements which caused a re-order of one cabinet (about 3 week lead time) but luckily based on the cabinet placement, it didn't stop other work from proceeding, and Jack was again very responsive and took care of the issue without any hassle. The floor tile installation was short by ONE TILE, which also caused about a week delay, but again that didn't stop other work from continuing to move forward. Once the granite counters were installed the rest of the detail work feel into place quickly. Mike asked my priorities and he was able to complete those to make it a "functional" kitchen right before Thanksgiving so I was able to cook a nice meal for the holidays. They returned after the holiday to finish up the final details, and I have a fantastic new kitchen. So, overall, the workmanship is top notch, the ongoing communication is open and honest, the billing is done weekly so there are no surprises and makes it easy to work within the budget. Just be sure to have expectations of project completion time and crew work hours understood so there are no surprises. Based on other stories I have heard, there are always glitches and gotchas along the way and this project went pretty smoothly overall and took a little longer than I was hoping, but the end product makes it all worth it! I would definitely use Stellar again and not hesitate to tell others to reach out to them.

Great - Jack Wilson of Stellar Remodeling worked with us closely to provide a detailed estimates (we went through 4 revisions) before we started the work. (Initially our eyes were bigger than our wallet). We also had a several month delay on our part after we signed the contract, then once we gave the go ahead to start the work we had another family matter which caused a further delay. Jack and his team, Cal and Toby, were more than accommodating, never pressuring us to get started, and always helping us get various components scheduled that worked best for us. As far as the work itself went, we couldn't be happier with the outcome. Our Master Bath is wonderful, the other bath rooms look fantastic, as does the kitchen and dining areas. All of the work was done at a very high quality, and Cal and Toby were always there to explain what they were doing and to show us the "surprises" that hide behind the floor and drywall when you start tearing the existing walls and floors up. Fortunately, there were no major ones. Regarding the price - Stellar was not the lowest (nor highest) bid we received for the work we wanted done. However, it was (in our opinion) a fair price, and it was a great value in terms of what we got for the money. This was our first ever serious remodel adventure. We learned a lot in the process, and Jack Cal and Toby (along with their specialized subcontractors) were always there to help us along through the process. We also used Stellar to do the interior painting as part of the remodel, so coordination between the remodelers and the painters was easy. (see separate review for the painting) We would absolutely use Stellar Painting and Remodeling again, and happily recommend them. Finally, Stellar provided us with a list of their preferred vendors for specific remodel components - tile, shower glass, granite countertops, wood floors. Although we could have used others of our own choosing, there was a financial benefit to using their main suppliers, and there was definitely a higher level of responsiveness to our needs from the suppliers based on the fact that the job was a "Stellar" project. We would therefore recommend that if you use Stellar, you seriously consider using their major suppliers as well.

Excellent. We did the project in two phases. We painted the exterior first, then came back and painted the interior as part of a remodel. First stage was the estimate. Guy Miller came and gave us a detailed estimate for both interior and exterior. For the exterior, I think it is important to note that other estimates we received suggested major damage to our siding, recommending expensive replacement options. Guy pointed out where there was some siding damage, but only the damage that was not repairable. For other siding issues, Guy recommended filling and sealing at a much cheaper expense than replacement. Guy did not try to pressure us at all to do more than what we needed/wanted. For the interior, Guy gave us similarly detailed estimates. He was also more than happy to revise them as needed as we went through several remodeling revisions. With respect to the execution of the contracts - we were very pleased with the outcome. The house inside and out looks great. I was very impressed with the detail the painters went to when prepping the house before paining it. Sometimes it seemed that it took longer to get ready for painting than it did to actually paint, but the results were that we did not have any issues with paint getting on things that were not intended to be painted. Guy's team was especially cooperative and accommodating when we had to modify painting schedules due to unanticipated family events. They were also very flexible when scheduling the interior painting and coordinated with the remodel team. One benefit to using Stellar for both the remodeling and painting was that due to unforeseen family issues, we asked the interior painters to overlap with the remodelers in order to compress the overall schedule. They did so willingly, and when the remodelers messed up the painters' work after the fact, Stellar came back and repainted one bathroom and our powder room, and never made an issue out of it. We are very happy with the outcomes inside and outside), as well as the overall experience and gladly recommend Stellar Painting and Remodeling for you interior and exterior painting needs. We would definitely use them again.

Not well. After leaving specific instructions with Ashley regarding the work I wanted estimated and procedure for the Stellar estimator to follow in order to gain access to my home, both by detailed email exchange with Ashley as well as by phone conversation, neither the work to be estimated nor the instructions for calling me were followed. Exactly the kind of poor communication that gives tradesmen a bad name.

Their quote was very detailed and specific as to exactly what the work would be. They were very accommodating in helping us choose a paint color. We were given sample paints. Painting a small section truly helps in getting the right color. Then the carpentry work was done, to replace part of our siding, the wood blocks by the roof, and gaps by the chimney that were sealed. This was a different company, but the scheduling and billing was all done through Stellar. For the painting; they sanded and stripped the walls, plants were protected and then painted the whole house. This was all done in a quick and timely manner. The employees were very professional. And, we absolutely LOVE our "new" house.
