They didn?t do the painting. I would definitely use their services in the future too.
Description of Work: I used the services of Stellar Painting & Remodeling in June for complete bathroom remodeling. They tore out the shower and tiles. They also did some drywall work with new tiles, new cabinets and everything else.
We'd found some loose tiles in our master bath shower, and while this room wasn't next on our remodel list, we decided to do the whole thing at once. My initial estimate of what we'd spend was wrong in short order as I checked off several more option boxes than first planned. Regardless, we had our usual experience with Jack and Stellar - timely arrivals, good cleanup and trash management, excellent communication and collaboration. Jack was the overall supervisor of all work performed except the cabinetry construction (which will change to absolutely everything for future projects). He was on-site almost daily for much of the early demo/plumbing/electrical work and either immediately available via mobile or later that same day throughout. This was the biggest project we had embarked on with our house and therefore with Stellar Remodeling. After the demo(lition), portion, work started straight away with much the same team. The carpet (ugh) was stripped, the old tub and platform, shower stall, mirrors, cabinets/sinks, lights, and some fireplace tile surrounds were all removed. The prior shower was partially enclosed with a foot plus gap above the walls which allowed a good deal of cold air to come in during the winter. Brrrr. A custom framing above the shower was built which lowered the ceiling and accomodated a skylight which would have prevented full enclosure for the steam shower. There was significant plumbing done as we were adding a steam shower with aromatherapy and in-shower controls, and a tankless water heater for the entire MBR and adjacent guest bath. We have a conventional tank gas water heater, but it's on the opposite side of the house and two floors down. The wait for hot water was a long one. We now have unlimited hot water in less than 30 seconds at three sinks, two showers, and a tub. Woohoo! Electrically it was also not simple. A heated floor was added, and two breakers were added to the preexisting sub-box in the garage below for the tankless water heater and steam generator. This wiring was run in a conduit in the garage, directly up through the garage ceiling/closet floor where these two items were later enclosed in a custom cabinet. The cabinet allows for replacement of the aromatherapy bottle, and passive venting of any excess heat (which has been minimal in actual use). I selected, purchased, and picked up both the steam generator (Dahl Plumbing) and had delivered the Stiebel water heater (Amazon). The replacement toilet and pedestal bathtub was also purchased by me and then delivered to our house for later installation by Stellar. The tile we picked out ourselves at Dal Tile with significant input from Jack and Johnny (the excellent "tile guy"). The purchase (at a discounted rate which Jack finagled from them!) and pickup were done by and billed to us through Stellar. We also picked out the marble for the countertops, shower seat, and bath ledge. This was also done at Dal Tile, with payment, pickup, finishing, cutting and installation coordinated by Stellar. The custom cabinetry was designed and built by Adams Fine Furniture. The construction and finish are beautiful. We had some trouble getting the handle hardware and built-in trash drawers delivered to us as several calls were needed to get them out to our house for installation, and this after they'd requested and received full payment. We've been extremely happy with the results both upon completion and now a couple months out. I'm sure Jack thought this review was never going to be written - sorry Jack!
Description of Work: Full MBR remodel. Demo, steam shower, installation of custom cabinets, toilet, and tankless water heater, installation of heated tile floor throughout, pedestal tub, tile wainscotting, tile fireplace surround.

Stellar did an excellent job from the beginning to the end of the project. As always, this is an excellent company that I would recomment with people that care about the finished product.
Description of Work: Stellar added two bedrooms, an office and a full bathroom to our home. They were also responsible for all interior painting, making sure that the paint on the addition matched the paint in the rest of the space.

Miller, who is the president, did the estimate and he was here almost 2 hours assessing the job that needed to be done. The carpenter, Nelson, was a craftsman in his carpentry. Then they arrived yesterday to paint at 7:00a.m. and they were here until almost 5:00p.m. and they came back today and finished about 2:00p.m. They cleaned up and even used a vacuum in the cleanup. $1200 of that price was for carpentry work and siding repair. A few months later, we discovered Stellar had broken a few tiles on the roof. When we called they told us to get the roof repaired and send them the bill. I appreciated how they took the fault.
Description of Work: They replaced siding and replaced some wood around the vents. Most of what was placed was siding. They also painted the exterior of our home.

Overall, we are thoroughly impressed with the professionalism Stellar showed. We had a few minor issues during the job, and when I brought these to the attention of the company, the president, Guy, devoted a great deal of on-site time to our project. Guy's involvement was crucial to the eventual success of the project and he deserves a lot of credit for caring so much about customer service and quality work. Our job was difficult: a 4,400 sf. home entirely clad in EIFS stucco. The stucco had never before been painted, and due to the textural variations and differences in absorption, presented a tough surface upon which to apply an even coating. The Stellar team just kept at it until the job was done to our satisfaction. There are less expensive contractors out there, and painting is a commodity, but the peerless service delivered by Stellar is worth a lot! Highly recommended.
Description of Work: Stellar painted the entire exterior of our stucco (EIFS) home.

It went really well. Leeann, the customer representative kept us informed throughout the process, told us where to go to get the paint samples(including two free ones), encouraged us to keep looking until we found colors that we were totally satisfied with. I called several times with questions and she was always helpful and pleasant. She gave us the date of our painting, told us who our team leader would be (Francisco, who was fantastic). Then the Company let us know they could start earlier and wanted to move ahead because weather looked good. The first morning they pressure washed everything, then let it dry overnight. The next day the team of four was there and they checked and repaired soffits, masked everything, and then did major painting so they could remove covering on windows and doors before we came home that evening. Crew was highly skilled, thorough, and careful, and very pleasant to have working on the house. Next day (Saturday) Francisco and a one of the crew members returned to finish up odds and ends, including one of the doors. Then on Monday Francisco and same crew member returned to paint a storm door (not easy to do) and take care of a few final details. Most careful paint crew I have ever seen! Really top notch. At the end Francisco went around house with me and inspected everything before I paid him. Simple, quick, easy, and low stress for us. Great crew, great crew leader (Francisco). Can't imagine having a better painting experience and better outcome. Everything looks great. We are very pleased.
Description of Work: We had soffits repaired and painted along with all trim on our one story ranch house along with half the body of the house and 2 doors, including a storm door inside and out. (House is half painted brick and half unpainted brick)

Everything went GREAT. This company responded to very short notice and completed the job in less time than expedcted. The team came in, did the job and left. I was very happy with the quick response to my call, and the availability to our needs. Not only that, the reparesentative identified needed work in addition to painted and gave us a bid on that. Explained what they would do, and did it, when they would be there and they were there. Very happy with the all over professionalism and dependability of this team

They responded promptly to our initial contact and did a thorough estimate. The project was scheduled promptly. They did a terrific job of prep, painting, and cleanup. They were ontime, courteous, and professional in all regards. They finished the job ahead of schedule and were very conscientious about making sure that we were 100% satisfied with the work. As long as Stellar remains in business, I can't imagine using anyone else for my house painting needs.

These guys are great! We selected them after interviewing and getting estimates from several contractors. We liked their attention to detail and focus on customer satisfaction. The crew leader was onsite with his crew 100% of the time. There were no surprises, and the work was completed on schedule. The crews cleaned up everyday as well as at the end of the project. The final walk-through upon completion was thorough and Stellar held back nothing in making sure that we were absolutely satisfied with the work. All aspects of the job and follow-up were outstanding. The entire experience with Stellar was stellar!

I am very pleased with the work from both Stellar Remodeling and Stellar Painting. Both division leaders (Jack and Guy) had great suggestions and were professional and knowledgeable. The people who work for the company are punctual, conscientious and hard workers. The inevitable surprise problems were handled quickly and managed well. I felt very comfortable with everyone in my house and they did a great job. My little old lady 50's house is transformed into a beautiful house for my family to enjoy. I highly recommend Stellar.
Description of Work: I used both divisions of Stellar (remodeling and painting) while remodeling a house that had not been updated since it was built in 1957. Stellar remodeled both bathrooms and performed various other projects throughout the house including adding new countertops and sink to the kitchen; moving the oven and fridge to a wall utilizing space from the garage; making matching cabinet doors; replacing trim throughout; moving a closet door; exterior work/new door on a barn; crafting new crawl space covers; and whatever else I needed. The painting division removed wallpaper that was 50 years old and very well adhered to the walls. We had countless patches from light fixtures that had been removed and other holes. They also painted most of the rooms of the house. No one would ever know that the walls had so many patches and issues because they are beautiful now.

In mid December 2009 Jack urged us to purchase all the items that were our responsibility (tile, lighting and plumbing, cabinet, fixtures etc.) He introduced us to responsive multiple suppliers in each category and guided us in our choices. This step alone allowed his crafts persons the ability to come in and complete the task at hand. This planning eliminated the "Gotta run down to Home Depot/Lowes syndrome" and the work coming to a halt. All the crafts person's time was submitted to us for approval " Evey, Mark,Johnnie and Orlando, Jack's crafts persons, were constantly aware that they were in your home. Every day/night before, we would receive a phone call from one of them advising us when they would be coming, etc. There were no surprises such as no shows. At the end of each work day, the work site was left in a ordered, clean condition. I am a plumber's son, as such I would schlep his stuff around and assist him until my teens. My father was a good plumber. Evey's work surpassed the quality of my Dad's work. Johnie's tile work was reminiscent of watching an artist at work. Orlando's painting was so exact and spotless. Mark's carpentry was precision work. Jack was in constant contact with us throughout the project. Working with all of these individuals was a true pleasure. The project finished on time and within $ 300.00 of the proposal. THIS COMPANY IS THE REAL THING!. In essence the reason that this project was so satisfactorily executed is due directly to Jack's skill, leadership, and communication ability with his client(s) (He gently and tactfully reminded me who the true project leader really was on projects like this:--- my wife. His counsel was gratefully accepted by yours truly). We, without reservation, wholeheartedly, recommend Stellar Remodeling as a excellent reliable and honest company. Kudos for ALL!
Description of Work: (Painting work reporrt for Stellar Custom Paint, will be submitted in a separate report for another project) Work and services performed by Stellar Remodeling Division. Met with the Owner, Jack Wilson, who spent well over three hours with us after listening to our concept and limitations. Possessing excellent communications skill , Jack presented several courses of actions and solutions. His wealth of experience, combined with a sensitivity to what we wanted to spend, yielded a DETAILED step by step proposal that provided costs and descriptions for each step. Essentially the bathroom was to be "demmo"(ed), shower was to be completely installed new, lavatory sinks with counter top were to be replaced, all plumbing, electrical (included a heated tile floor), complete tile work and painting (provided by Stellar Custom Painting Inc., a separate company). Jack then met with us to go over our concerns and questions. We signed the contract after this meeting and scheduled the work to begin in Mid-January 2010.
It turned out great. I only use them and would highly recommend them. I was very happy and will use them again.

Guy showed up on time for the estimate and was professional. He offered lots of advice about colors. His bid came in significantly higher than another Angie's list recommended company (who has completed the work and earned an "A" in all categories) which is the main reason I decided not to go with Stellar Painting. The sales tactics (including lots of promotional materials) seemed a little aggressive as well.

Response from Stellar Painting & Remodeling
As any viable, intelligent business must do, we work hard to earn folks trust and try and provide people with educational, professional and informative info. in order to make a good buying decision. I provided this member with some of our professional Lit. that just tells people about our Company. We do not even have her on our E-mail list, never even sent her a follow up e-mail, newsletter or inquiry about the Bid. Not sure what is so aggressive about any of that? Seems as if I should have done a better job of following up for that matter! If you snooze, you loose in this business. Following up in a polite, considerate but persistent manner is expected by many and more often rewarded to those who do than don't. We use time standards and sq. ft. pricing based on 10 years of research and current market conditions. We gave this member a very competitive bid and she just chose another Contractor. That happens all the time in a Multi- Billion Dollar Painting and Remodeling Industry in the City of Denver alone. With a bid that small, the price differential on 3 bedrooms can be pretty tight and it would not take much for one bid to be a substantial % diff. than another. The Avg. price for a room in Denver for Ceilings and Walls is $200.00. Allot of Contractors in the Fall/Winter, as things get slower, will offer their services at Cost to keep People busy. This is a tactic that sometimes works and sometimes does not and often makes good contractors look bad. I have no ideal if this is the case or not , but it is likely with a bid that small. It is also just as possible that the project was simply underbid and the contractor just followed thru and did the job he was tasked to do. Again, sometimes that works out and sometimes not at all! By the way, maybe we could have even done a better job for her for a little more. As a company that had its best yr. in history since our formation last yr and has never panicked or made a fear driven decision, we just have not had to apply that sort of decision making process to our business model. We continue to lead the City of Denver in what we do because we offer consistent performance with great people at a fair market driven price. WE HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO DO SO! Since, we never even worked for this member and have never heard from her since our Bid NOW OVER 6 MONTHS AGO, we are quite perplexed at the transparency & purpose of a report that really indicates nothing more than a consumer making a base line decision to choose one contractor over another. Very often we warn that treating a service based business very much like a commodity based on price as the major consideration, and that all parties are supposedly equal, can be risky. This concept is really applicable no matter where you find contractors online or ect. Sometimes it works out for a Company to use pricing as their main strategy to gain work in the Short Term but almost never in the Long Term. We wish this member well with her future projects and can only hope that we have an opportunity to work with her in the future. As a hard working Family Owned business that cares about our Clients immeasurably, time spent by our Clients on reports on great work we have ACCOMPLISHED & COMPLETED is so very much appreciated .... and we have lots and lots of those!

Guy Miller is a true professional. His engagement from my initial contact and throughout the process was very customer-centric and professional. His assessment and bid process were significantly more professional than the other two firms I contacted through Angie's List. Guy was patient, educating me on the different types of paint and stain that were ideal for our Cedar and brick home and the redwood deck. Once under contract, his team reflected his commitment to quality and professionalism. Every detail was considered. The work was of high quality, from excellent preparation and caulking to the finishing touches on the trim and doors. Great care was taken to protect the deck surface from stain. The crew was clean. The last step was a thorough walk-thru and some touch ups that were completed immediately. We are very satisfied with our experience. The house and deck look fantastic, every neighbor comments on the improvement.

I had a number of bids some from contractors I used before and a few on angies. This company was very responsive. Their bid was actually higher than some of the other bids but only because they pointed out that I needed some additional facsia and trim work. This is a rental and my tenants had all the contact with the laborers. Stellar had a final review of their work and did some final touch ups after meeting with my tenant. Overall very easy to work with and follow up was great!

Overall it went well. Jack came out and discussed the project and provided a quote. Once we had our gutters removed by another company, we scheduled the work. Danny and Desmond came out to do the work. There was some kind of miscommunication. The work we discussed with Jack included replacing sections of fascia on the four corners of the second story roof. Instead the guys performed the work on the two front corners on the second floor and the two front corners on the porch. When I discussed the work with them afterwards, they said they wondered why I didn't want the back corners done. So they came back and did them the next day. This is when they discovered that the soffit also needed to be repaired. They estimated the quantity of beadboard required and Jack found it and had it delivered a few days later. We were very impressed with the apparent quality of the work they did installing the new soffit. It looks great. They were willing to come work even when it was *really* cold. Even though they considerably overestimated on quantity of materials, they did not charge us for it.
Description of Work: The fascia boards on our 100 year old house were a little rotted near the corners. The bead board tongue and groove soffit on one side of the house was also very water damaged and needed to be replaced. Stellar replaced sections of fascia and the damaged soffit.

Guy came out to discuss the work. We were impressed with his knowledge and the fact that he documented all the details of our job (three paint colors, lead based paint concerns, etc). This made us comfortable that we'd get what we asked for. We had to have gutters removed, fascia boards repaired and soffits partially replaced beforehand by other contractors so the painting had to wait a while. When we finally had all the other work done we let Stellar know that we were ready. They called us when weather looked like it would cooperate (in mid December!). They sent Francisco out to discuss the work and get started. We discussed the work in detail with him (where the colors go, etc) and his team started the power washing. Since our house is so old, the windows don't seal very well so we had quite a bit of water in the house afterwards. Fortunately we were at home and could clean it up immediately. The next day they scraped. We were told beforehand that they'd lay down tarps to catch all the lead-based paint chips but this didn't happen. When we pointed that out, they laid down tarps for the remainder of the job. They were very responsive when we wanted them to try different colors in different locations (in particular, on the corbals). We really appreciated Francisco's recommendations when we picked colors that he didn't agree with. We think it looks better than it would have had he kept his opinion to himself. From what we can tell, the prep work was excellent. Time will tell. The cleanup of the lead-based paint chips wasn't as good as we expected because the ground was wet when they finished. Guy has offered to have them come back once the ground dries to clean up the rest. We're posting a photo for your reference. We're very pleased. Note that we also had Stellar perform repairs on the fascia boards and soffits prior to the paint work.
Description of Work: We had the trim on our 100 year old house and detached garage scraped and painted. The house is brick so only fascia boards, gutters, windows, corbals and other decorative trim needed to be painted.

Description of Work: Put in a Butcher Block Breakfast Bar and adjusted height of countertop.
We are very pleased with the professionalism of this company, and most of all with the amazing outcome. These folks become like family; even the dog missed them when they were finished. She thought they were part of her "pack." Initially we worked with Jack Wilson who is on the remodeling side of the company. He kept me on track as far as selection of materials so that we could finish in a timely manner. Jack takes on the role of the General Contractor, is passionate about the work performed and the homeowner's ultimate satisfaction. He truly enjoys helping in any way possible with design, shopping, and selection of materials, and with my busy work schedule the time he gave me was invaluable. His attention to detail is over and above what I have experienced with any other contractor. After the remoding was completed we worked with the other side of the company through Guy Miller and his amazing painting crew. Guy provided a free 1-hour with a decorator who spent time at our home assisting with the paint colors. The decorator was Connie George and she was delightful to work with. I would recommend that you talk with Jack and Guy before making a final decision on the contractor you choose for your home remodeling. You won't be disappointed; these guys are the real deal!

We are in the process of working with them. They have been great so far. They seem to be a well know company. We had some hail damage to the house. They had to do some construction; repair work. They are going to repaint that portion for the moment because it is cold and snowing here in Colorado. They were really professional. The owner of the company came and did the estimate himself. He walked around. He spent an hour in his car preparing the estimate and put it out for me right there. It was very easy for me to get an idea of how much it was going to cost. He was a little bit more expensive than the other companies that I was looking at. However, his overall approach, professionalism and thoroughness made me feel that it is worth paying and extra $200 on this guy because he seemed really experienced. I felt it was a good choice.

Our home was significantly damaged by a Hail / Wind Storm on July 20, 2009. After weeks of arguing with the Insurance Company - I frinally received an accurate adjustment on the damage. I had seen exterior painting done by Stellar on another house in the neighborhood and called for an estimate. Andy was great! He came out within 24 hours, gave a written estimate and also informed me of the Remodeling Division that could assist with Windows and Siding. Jack came out to the house and also provided written estimates for everything. My insurance company agreed with the pricing and the rest was history. The windows that were installed appear to be very good, as we've had over 18 inches of snow / cold weather and they are not drafty or cold. The siding was replaced by Cal and his helper over 4 days. Cal is quite a craftsman, all of the cuts are perfect and all of the siding lines match up perfectly on all sides of the house. They performed cleanup which I really appreciated since I have a dog that could have been injured by debris / nails left behind. We are waiting for exterior paint now ----- if mother nature would cooperate! I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND STELLAR to anyone needing paint / remodeling services. They may cost a little more than other companies, but the craftsmanship and attention to detail is well worth it!

Jack Wilson gave us the initial estimate and was very responsive throughout the job. The ending price was very close to what we expected. The total price included materials which we purchased ourselves.
Description of Work: Stellar did a complete bath remodel for us, including a new whirlpool tub, shower, and granite covered vanity. The workmanship was excellent. They were flexible in using existing parts of what was already there. They did all the installation work including electrical lines needed for the whirlpool pump and heater. The pace was a little bit deliberate, but the result was well worth the wait.
