Their estimate was about $9000. They seemed to know how to paint an old house. They seemed competent and knew what they were doing. They were a little expensive.
Description of Work: Stellar Painting and Remodeling gave me an estimate to paint the exterior of my house in April.

Stellar gives "Customer Service" a new meaning. Everyone involved in this project, from start to finish, was helpful, friendly, caring, concerned, informative, enthusiastic, thorough, and professional. The only thing that surpassed the superb craftsmanship was the human touch. Guy and his amazing crew went out of their way to be sure we were happy with the project, and were more that happy to accomodate our needs. Stellar Painting and Remodeling is a class-act, and we would gladly refer them to anyone. Thank you, Stellar!!!!
Description of Work: We have a house that was built in the late '40s, and it was in desperate need of exterior painting. We hired Stellar to power wash, treat the wood with peel bond, and paint the entire house and detached garage . Once all the paperwork was signed and we arranged a starting date a few weeks later, they matched our requested paint colors and completed the entire job in 3 days. They took the time we needed to be sure everything was done as requested, and we are very happy with the results.

Stellar has two divisions - Painting and Remodeling. Jack Wilson, President of the Remodeling Group, was very helpful with his ideas and spent a lot of time until we came up with the optimum plan for remodeling a twenty-year-old bathroom that had a lot of space but was awkwardly planned. His crew were there when they said they would be, were hard workers and pleasant to have in the house, and very very good at their work - as were the subcontractors. Any problems that came up were quicklyand ably taken care of. The finished product is a comfortable, safer bathroom with gorgeous tilework and many improvements - we're very pleased.
Description of Work: Stellar gutted a master bathroom, removing a platform, a dinky shower, two sinks and countertop, toilet ; plus plate glass and fake stone wall coverings. They enlarged the toilet room so that a wheelchair user would have access; installed a much larger shower (also wheelchair accessible) fillled in a wall that was open to the bedroom, installed a heated floor and also a Toto Washlet 300 toilet seat, soaker tub with jets, granite countertops.

I hired Stellar to paint the entire interior of my rental house. In the proposal, they were supposed to do the prep work and repair holes in the wall. They told me they completed the work and I went down to inspect the work. They had not done any of the prep work, holes still existed in the wall, portions of multiple walls were unpainted. There was paint over much of the hardware in the kitchen, on banisters and many other locations. Overall, extremely poor quality, it looks like they came in and tried to paint as quick as humanly possible and move on and the quality showed. They ended up coming back and repairing it but provided some lame excuse about the prep work not being excluded even when it was listed as an extra line item I authorized when accepting the bid (and they had inspected the house prior to the bid). Overall negative experience.
Description of Work: Had them paint entire interior of my rental house.

Response from Stellar Painting & Remodeling
Of course these reports always come as some surprise to us as we want all people we work for to like us and to be happy with us. However, when you work for hundreds of people per yr, this is just going to be tough at times. With all that said, these members’ comments are unfair, mean spirited and disappointing. This member did not meet me to do the Bid. I wrote up the Proposal to include Repair/ Re-work to some Previous Poor Repairs to the Walls for a mere $200.00 Had I known that his expectation would be to correct previous poor Texture Application, and Poor Sheetrock work w/ bad Seams, ect. then I would have put the bid together differently. The Crew did what was scoped in the Proposal and did nothing wrong in this regard. Once he communicated he expected & wanted more, I felt accountable for not inquiring and reviewing with him what he may or may not have wanted to do with all the Drywall/Texture Defects from the start and instructed the team to "Do Whatever it takes". We did so the very next evening until 10 PM with an addl. 10 hrs worth of work to the walls at n/c with myself present to evaluate the work with the Crew Leader in the end. This member Blue taped areas and we repaired at a min, double to that which he marked. Because of this, I find the harshness of this review perplexing & disturbing. We honestly went above and beyond. I was there, I was part of that earnest effort. There was previous Paint on all of the Door Hardware, Knobs, Striker Plates and Kitchen Cabinet Hardware which is typical for many previously painted rental properties. I personally spent 2 hrs cleaning off old Paint off these items that same evening as we were rightly fearful that it would now be us that did so. I inspected the property for this myself and any paint on these items by us was minimal. My only regret in regards to this issue is that neither I nor the Crew made him aware that this previous condition existed. We no longer make this mistake. We no longer assume folks pay attention and know in advance that hardware had previous paint. Some of the walls roller marked based on varied absorption rates. It is a common touch up and is being described inaccurately here by this member as "Multiple walls were Unpainted" We took care of this issue that same night in less than a 1/2 hr. Again, just a common walk thru type thing. We also Repaired Holes to the Wall left behind by an attempt by someone other than us to remove the Hand Rail Bannister. We again did this to please this Client. To go above and beyond. To re-emphasize, we addressed all of these 1st time thru walk thru items immediately and did so with great diligence and effort with no other purpose in mind put to please this client. It’s confounding when a company cannot just respond to a simple walk thru punch list, do so promptly and have that great " Do Whatever it takes" attitude, go above and beyond, be told that all is well, get paid for the work with no indication to the contrary and that still is not good enough. When we left the Property we vacuumed, cleaned and the place looked great. Even though we could not get this member to meet with us for a final Walk, he walked it himself and indicated he was happy, it looked good and paid us. Again, so sad that a simple standard walk thru, an expression to correct or perfect with a punch list by this member and our quick reaction to bring it up to speed as it were goes completely unmentioned and underappreciated. Thank goodness that over 5000 Excellent Surveys of our own of Happy Customers says this is definitely the exception and not the rule. We hope this Member can find happiness with another Contractor now 9 months after we last worked for him and the filing of this report. We wish him well with his future projects. Guy W. The job was finished meticulously and looks fabulous! They were great to work with. The tile placement had to be mind-numbing but was never rushed and the final result shows this patience.
Description of Work: They demo'd the ceramic tiles and wall materials in the tub area. They removed the wainscoting tiles and replaced some of the wall material , removed the bathtub, moved the spigot and shower head. Installed a new steel tub and drain, concrete board in the tub area and part of the wainscoting area. Retiled the room with subway tiles/small glass trim. Because the tub was a different size, they cut some marble pieces to fit on the floor next to the current ceramic tiles. They repaired a hole in the drywall over the sink area. Grouted and caulked everything. Installed a new medicine cabinet, three towel bars, and tp holder. They consulted with me on every placement and were very receptive to any requests.

This was probably the worst experience I have had in hiring anyone to work on my home. The contract called for power washing, prep work, and painting with a 25 year paint. They used a paint sprayer to do almost all of the work, and they got overspray on the windows - both the glass and the vinyl. They also got paint on the brick and tried to clean it by wiping with a wet rag, which just made a white-washed look. They painted over cobwebs. They painted over cracked and peeling paint. They broke a light fixture, which they did replace, but only after the crew leader tried to argue that it was an old fixture and breaks easily. I called the office after they were done and told them that I wanted a different crew to come back to fix all of my issues. They sent the same crew back. I told them the problems I had found. The crew leader was most concerned with getting his crew paid. When they were going to fix the paint job on the front door, inside the house, they just started scraping and I had to tell them to use a drop cloth. After they left, I checked the job again and found that they scraped paint off some of the windows, but not all, and didn't attempt to take the paint off of the vinyl. They still didn't scrape all of the peeling paint that they painted over - they painted over with more paint. I saw a dangling piece of old caulk and pulled and it came off along with paint. I had also asked them to leave me the left over paint. I discovered that they had done the entire job with a cheaper, 15 year paint, plus it looked like they were trying to cover that up by painting over the labels on all of the cans. They sent another crew back to fix the issues again. I did negotiate a 25% discount, but I feel that I overpaid since I'm still finding things to clean paint off of and finding places they neglected to prep or paint. I don't have much confidence that this paint job will last very long.

We are always sorry when a Client feels this Way. When we finsihed this job we had addresssed all of this Clients issues completely and to her satisfaction. Sherwin Williams was out of the Base of the color for the Paint needed and we used the next grade down and provided the Client with a 25% Discount in regards to the use of 15 yr. A-100 vs. the Super Paint, which is very fair. There was a miscommunicaton between the Field Supervsior and the Crew Leader as to the communicaton of this to the Client. This was unfortunate, was not done in malice and we earmestly accepted our accountabilty here and again the Client was compensated for the mistake. A-100 was used on the Pentagon and on Coors Field for example. While I appreciate her concern,15 yr. A-100 is not cheap or bad paint and the life of her Paint job is in good hands with our extended 4 yr. Labor Warranty. There was pre-exisitng paint on the House and any over spray or Paint that was ours we cleaned off easily. We always regret when Paint gets on a surface that we wish it not to be on. We really do go to great lengthes to avoid this at most any cost. We had issues with High Winds blowing our Masking off accounting for most if not all of the Paint Overspray, ect. The Wind blew a Ladder over on the Light and it broke it. It was replaced the next day promptly and there was never any doubt that we would replace it. I believe her comments in regards to the Light are unfair and reflects our struggle to develop a harmonious working relationship with this Client. Paint on a Label does not indicate Deception, it indicates just exactly that, "Paint on the Label". We left her the touch up, the exact paint we used on the House. Does not appear to me in doing so, that we were hiding anything whatsoever. All I Know is that as is customary for us, we worked hard to meet this members expectations, correct any issues and in the end came to a fair resolution. It is unfortunate that our eagerness to please, our commitment & resolve to make things right or correct a problem is never dealt any mention or credit whatsoever. That there is no mention that earnest trips by the Account Manager, Operations Manager and the Field Supervisor to the site to address her concerns and to attend to them in a prompt & good way go unnoticed. That there is no mention that we always responded to her calls & followed up with her in caring manner. The request for a Crew Change was made for the final touch ups, we gladly complied. No such request was made prior to that to the recollection of anyone in the Organization. These are Human beings we are talking about here who are imperfect and things can and will happen in the service Industry. How a company responds is crtical, how much they care is essentail. What a Company does to respond to the 2% of the time something goes wrong vs. the 98% of the time when it goes right really tells the story and sets one apart from others. I want the members to know that we never ignored or denied this Client our attention or desire to please her. I can assure anyone reading this that we worked very hard to the end to make this client whole and right. We wish this member well with her future endeavors. Guy W. The crew was punctual, professional and efficient. They did the necessary prep work to ensure the dust and debris was kept to a minimum and cleaned up at the end of each day. Although my two year old was constantly under foot, they took the time to answer her questions and show her how everything worked. They returned to perform touch up work but again did it efficiently and professionally.

Overall the most professional contractor we've dealt with in years. Stellar's site inspection, estimate and proposal was exceptionally thorough, leaving no question about the work required, processes they would use, the specific materials to be used and the date to schedule the work. Their proposal detail was far more comprehensive than all other estimates received. Work was performed on time and for a bit less than the quoted price. Work quality, and cleanup was outstanding. Pricing was in the middle range of quotes received, but I believe we received far more value than we would have from any of the other proposals.

Guy, the estimator, was very postive and knowledgeable and I was able to take advantage of a good winter discount on the price. David and Jesus kept me informed about their schedule and worked hard to do a quality, professional job for the whole period of time. The paint was low VOC so the fumes were not too bad and when they worked on the front door, they used plastic to keep out the much stronger fumes, at my request, which was much appreciated. The job took longer than I had anticipated but I had the extra time to allow; I was getting my house ready to rent and then leaving town. I was very pleased and another paint company that I had do an estimate had told me that they knew Stellar would do a good job.
Description of Work: Interior walls were painted in 3 bedrooms, 2 halls, 2 stairways, the living room and entry; the ceiling was included for the living room, entry, and one hallway and one stairway. The basement recreation room had walls and baseboard painted. The front door was sanded and stripped, then covered with stain and protector coat.

The project was an extreme success! My house is beautiful! The price was on the high side but they took extra care of my existing NEW hardwood floors and were very detailed in the job they performed. The adage "you get what you pay for" is true, and I am so glad to have a job well done with no headaches or any need to ask for re-work. I would gladly provide a reference for Stellar Painting and Remodelling.

Stellar Remodeling recently completed a series of remodeling and repair projects in my home. The kitchen floor, two bathrooms and a hallway all needed to be renovated and Stellar Remodeling had expertise for all the work. Their work in every detail was exceptional and I am exceedingly pleased with the results. The employees and specialists with Stellar are all experienced and highly skilled professionals. It did not take me long to realize that all of them are true craftsmen who take pride in they work. The work throughout the projects was well managed; the crew took great efforts to protect my floors, carpet and doors and at the end of each day the areas were clean and orderly. But most impressive was that fact that each and every member of the Stellar team took the time to speak with me to address any questions I had or to offer their expertise and advice when I needed it. It was a pleasure to work with all of them. I have already recommended them to others and I am even now planning for their next set of projects in my home.
Description of Work: 1. Remodel Master Bath: Remove old tub and shower unit; remove carpet; remove toilet. Install new bath tub and shower, build, assemble, and install new counter top, sinks, and all plumbing; install new lights; install tile on floors, walls and in shower area; build, assemble and install new glass shower enclosure; install new toilet; paint all the bathroom walls. 2. Kitchen Floor: Remove old vinyl tile, repair under-flooring, install new porcelain tile. Install new water supply line for ice maker. 3. Half-Bath: Remove old carpet and install new porcelain tile; remove old toilet and replace new one; turning door to bathroom to open outward to provide better access to the narrow bathroom. 4. I was very dissatisfied with their services. One of the workers? who came to do the carpentry and electrical work made a mistake and I had to get someone else to fix it. There was a considerable delay caused. The owner who gave me the estimate to do the job had resigned. The changes I wanted in the job took time to take off again, because of change of ownership of the company. The workers just didn?t know what they were doing. The installation of the stove was not done properly. Infact, he didn?t know what he was supposed to do. I had to get another person to re-install the same. The person who came over to do the job was not honest and was confronted when I showed my dissatisfaction. I feel, I paid a lot for the work done. I was extremely disappointed and will never use their services in future again.

Response from Stellar Painting & Remodeling
Here is the Bottom line at Stellar. We have never left a project until someone was satisfied, ever! We installed Granite for the member, The member was happy but very indecisive. Jack Spent Hours with her at the supplier assisting her with her Selection of the Granite. We went out of our way to assist in Color and Quality Selection. We Modified a Cabinet and Installed a Oven. The member was Happy. We Modified a Cabinet and Installed a Pantry. She Agreed to & Selected the 1st Set of Doors which we Installed. Changed her mind and Wanted a Diff. Set of Doors. We spent hours Researching diff. Doors for her and in the End she decided they were all too expensive. She then wanted to narrow the original set of Doors we installed so the Width of the Opening Swing was less. We modified the Door and Cabinet to Accommodate this request. She was happy. We worked hard in a good and Patient way with her like we do for everyone to achieve this. Any delay in the Project was directly related to her indecision with certain phases along the way. We understand that can happen and we worked with her in a kind and good way in that regard. We dropped a Stove Top into the New Granite Countertop. A Simple Procedure. She was Happy. We never heard anything from her whatsoever as to any issues with the Installation or operation of the Stove Top. How are we to assist if we don't know of an issue. This is perplexing to us for sure! Had she called we would have done whatever it would have took to make it right. This is what we guarantee to people and have always followed thru on. Because she was so indecisive along the way, we are not even sure if she is talking about us since our records indicate the Project went well, finished well and she paid in full. In addition, we have never had a Change or resignation of Ownership in now 8 years since our inception. So those statements are simply just wrong, ill conceived and again perplexing in nature. In regards to a Confrontation of some sort, we have spoken with the Lead on the Project and his assistant and we have no record of a disagreement or confrontation of any kind. To Clarify, No Management, Ownership, Field /Onsite Supervision or Staff Office Personal including our Project Coordinator have any recollection of such an occurrence. We are just quite simply confounded as we do not have confrontational or unfriendly Folks working for us. It is likely we would have known about some measure of unhappiness as you can liken it to a Bomb going off when we have an onsite issue. We immediately all talk about it and discuss a positive resolution to the situation. We have a Reputation second to no one in this Market for Integrity, Hard Work, Honest effort and Consistent Positive End Results. Again, Nothing in her final Paperwork or File mentions any issues other then a Positive Punch Out & a clear record that she was Happy with every phase along the way & with the Final product. The Statement in general about Honesty seems ill conceived & awkwardly stated as what does a Confrontation about something whether it happened or not have to do with Honesty?? Lastly, we even lended her a 15% addl. Discount towards the re-altering of the Door and Pantry which we did in kindness to assist with this addl. cost. This seems like a nice gesture on our part and quite contrary to what she is portraying here with this report. We continue to Maintain a 98% Avg. Rating of excellent on now over 5000 Customer Surveys and continued to Maintain a yearly 30 Plus Percentage growth Rate because we truly care about how we do things and achieving something great for our Clients. We wish this Client well and would look forward to assisting her with any future Issues or needs unquestionably.

My initial contact with Stellar was less than stellar. When I called to schedule and estimate, I was told they only do estimates after 10 am and before 5 pm, which simply doesn't work for my schedule. Then I remembered I'd be home early one afternoon later in the week, and asked if we could do it then. She said her sales guy wasn't avaliable that afternoon. When I was ready to hang up and move on, she finally said, "Well, since you live nearby, let me give our sales guy a call and see if he can squeeze you in." She called back a few minutes later and said he could come by at 5:30, which worked perfectly for me. When he got to my house, I told him about my frustation in scheduling the estimate and he said that it's no problem at all for him to schedule an early morning or evening appointment. I got estimates from 4 contractors and Stellar was the second lowest bid, but they described a much more thorough process and they gave me a separate bid on minor wood repairs which could be done at the same time as the painting. Two of the other painting contractors said I would have to hire somebody else to do the wood repairs ahead of time. I just didn't want to deal with that. When the crew showed up, one part of the wood repair was a bigger job than what they had expected based on the description they had gotten from the sales guy and they didn't think they could do it. They suggested that I could hire a separate contractor to do it and they'd come to paint later or that they could find a contractor but bill me separately, etc. We called the guy who had given the original estimate and discussed alternatives, all of which would have cost me an extra $500. Finally, about an hour later, the owner of the company called me and assured me that they have a guy on their staff who can do the work and that he was going to get it all done at the price they originally quoted. I was happy with that. After that, everything was good. The crew was prompt and courteous and thoroughly cleaned up when they were done. For the final walk through, I pointed out a few spots they had missed and they finished those up right away. All in all, aside from the initial communication problems, the end result was very good and I feel like I got a great value for the money. I'm getting ready to get quotes on interior painting and some tile work and will start with Stellar.

Jack Wilson from Stellar is great to work with. From the start he put me at ease and was willing to spend the time listening to what we wanted to do. We spent many hours in the consultation and bid process. He was instrumental in the design of the kitchen as well as the design of some of the walls we were opening up, which included moving a broom closet, creating a new four-foot wide opening in the wall between kitchen and family room, closing up old entry to family room and opening up two walls in the kitchen for pass-through and breakfast bar access. He also was incredibly helpful with picking out all the materials - he referred us to his cabinet company who was great to work with, and he was helpful in steering me in the right direction for the countertops. He uses his own subs for electric, tile, hardwood floors and granite counter installation. All his subs were very easy to work with, were professional and all came in on budget. There were small issues here and there - some cabinet pieces were off from the order, the electric had to be adjusted a little once we started using everything, the floors had to be re-done - but in the end they all did what they needed to do to complete the job to our satisfaction. The only larger issue we had was Jack's labor estimate for demolition and installation of new cabinets was very low compared to the hours actually logged by the team. We had discussed this frequently with Jack as the project progressed, so he was aware of our concerns regarding the overages. And in the end, Jack worked with us on the labor costs and was incredibly professional about sticking to the estimate where we both felt it was most fair. I would absolutely consider using Stellar again, mostly because we are very happy with the end-resut (it looks beautiful!), and Jack really listened and understood what we wanted and was able to bring his own great ideas to the project.
Description of Work: Complete kitchen remodel, including removal of old cabinets/countertops/appliances, installation of new cabinets/countertops/appliances, opening up a few walls, re-finishing of floors, new electric work (needed a major overhaul of the main breaker box). Costs quoted above does not include cost of cabinets, appliances or painting.

We are so grateful to work with such a good quality firm like Stellar Paint. They were invited in to provide a proposal for the above cited work in November 2009 to be accomplished some time in Feb-March of this year. Guy, the owner spent well over 2 hours listening to our needs and providing excellent cost effective solutions to our requirements. His proposal was, within 2 days, submitted to us and subsequently followed by a visit to make sure any questions and concerns were answered. In Feburary, Guy, after close coordination with our remodelling contractor, had work start under the supervision and execution by an excellent Stellar craftsman, Orlando. His work was so perfect. Paint lines and staining applications were excellent. He, and his colleagues, worked quickly and flawlessly. They left the site each day, clean and tidy. Orlando's contact with us was timely and considerate, calling us as to his arrival time and departure. When we received the detailed invoice,it was only $ 100.00 +/- over the proposal (extraordinary). All in all, the open area and the upper level of our home is beautiful because of Stellar Paint's work. We are so pleased. This is an excellent firm. We will unhestantly call them back for future work. We will provide positive to those who inquire.
Description of Work: Prep and stain upper level trim to include a 20' upper level railing, plus a 20' stair railing with posts.Upper level doors and trim prep and stain. Paint bathroom interior walls, ceiling + trim. They were not requested to do wallpapering.

Overall, it was OK. I got the feeling I was a small job for them and was treated accordingly. Only two real complaints: 1) the minor carpentry for trim repair was done by eye-balling as opposed to actually measuring and if you look closely, it shows; 2) toward the end of the job I was left with two workers who barely spoke English (the foreman went to oversee another job the last 2 days and did not return) and communication with them was very difficult. They did all the work they were hired to do and, from the street, it looks good. I would consider using them again, but they did not win automatic-repeat-business loyalty this time.

This member listed on his Walk thru. "Worked Quickly & Efficiently. When any problem came up, they dealt with it Promptly and to my satisfaction" With that said, if there was an issue with the Carpentry I would think it was either dealt with in a good way or this member could have called and we would have done so until he was happy like we do with all our Clients. The Field Supervisor monitered the Job and Walked it with the member, so of course he did return, and at that time again any improvements needed would have been attended to. All of our Crew leaders Speak English and the Crew Leader on this job did as well but with an accent and the Field Supervisor, Office Staff and Ownership are just a phone call away to properly address any issues always. We care greatly for all our Clients and we continue to maintain a 98% Approval Rating of Excellent on all Post Job Surveys with now nearly 5000 on record. This report comes as some suprise to us as it was our understanding that this member was happy to the end. We treat all jobs no matter what the size with the same import, passion and desire towards a positve end result. We wish this member well and hope we can work with him again in the near future and we would work very hard to make him happy unquestionable.

The project went very well, despite its large size and the changes we made from the original plan. Jack, Mike, John and Johnny were all excellent and a pleasure to work with. All were responsive to our questions, concerns and ideas. The painters did an excellent job as well, very quickly. We absolutely love the finished product!
Description of Work: Stellar Remodeling did an extensive remodel on 2 bathrooms, including building a new bedroom wall, plumbing with 3/4 inch lines, new tile, heated floor, shower fixtures, sink/bath fixtures, toilets. We used the painting "arm" of the company to paint 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

Jack Wilson came to my home to estimate the cost of the things needing attention, focusing on the tub leak and rocking toilet which were my primary concerns. Jack explained why it would not be possible to give an exact estimate until the ceiling and wall were opened to allow thorough examination of the plumbing for the tub (removal and replacement of the tub would cost substantially more than repair of the existing one) He sent John out promptly to begin the work we discussed, and was very good about keeping in touch as the work progressed. John was prompt, clean, quiet and careful as he worked. I cannot say enough good things about the quality of his work. He arrived early each day and worked steadily all day long, keeping me updated about how things were going. Needless to say, I was thrilled that the existing tub's plumbing could be repaired so that the tub did not have to be replaced. Everyone at Stellar is extremely kind. Stellar provides such excellent customer service and value for the money that I am already planning on using them again for the next round of home improvement projects on my list. THANK YOU, STELLAR!!!
Description of Work: The upstairs tub was leaking into the downstairs laundry room. John opened the laundry room ceiling and an adjoining wall (which required removal of several wall cabinets) to assess and repair the leak, and check for mold. He patched and painted the ceiling and wall, installing an access panel to make any future maintenance on the tub's plumbing easier. He replaced the cabinets when that work was done. The toilet in the same bathroom as the tub was loose and rocked. John removed it, determined why it was rocking, made sure that no water damage had resulted from the problem, then properly re-installed the toilet. He also corrected a problem with the installation of two showers in the home, which required removal of one shower's frame and re-installation of that frame, in addition to sealing of both showers, which was never done when the showers were originally installed by the house's previous owner. John installed a wall fan in a powder room to bring the bathroom up to code. He replaced an old bathroom faucet. He also patched a large section of the drywall of the ceiling in the upstairs hall, matching it in both paint and texture to the surrounding surface. He painted and installed closet doors in two bedrooms. He installed a permanent drainage pipe from the water heater to the drain in the basement floor (the previous pipe was PVC and not securely connected, causing it to fall off frequently). John also replaced a missing toe-kick beneath a bathroom vanity.

Jack Wilson and Stellar were great to work with. My husband and I were taken by another contractor that we had signed a contract with for the above services. The original contractor walked away with our money half way through the job. We contacted Stellar to get a quote to finish the kitchen and repair the poor work done by the original contractor. Stellar billed us on a weekly basis for time and materials. The invoices were easy to read and they also provided the reciepts and timecards to support the invoice. Given the fact that we had just been ripped off and without a kitchen for 3 months, this was a wonderful way for us to feel confident we were dealing with an honest company. The workmanship of Stellar's employee, John, who did most of the work was of high quality. John was professional, responsive, respectful and a skilled craftsman. If John was not going to work on a certain day, we were told ahead of time so we knew no one would be working. Jack came by at least once a week to inspect the job and ensure we were on schedule. The kitchen was clean everyday after John left and John ensured that the kitchen was sealed from the rest fo the house as he did his work during the day. The subs that Jack used for the granite, hardwood floors and windows did a great job as well. We couldn't be happier with the work that was done and we would use Stellar again.
Description of Work: Stellar provided the following services as part of our kitchen remodel - refinished our hardwood floors throughout the house, installed replacement windows, installed granite countertops, installed tile floor and backsplash, installed support bracing to secure a load bearing wall that was removed and installed new upper and lower cabinets.

It took Stellar more than 2 weeks from first contacting them to respond, inspect the site and prepare a quote. The owner cane out and convinced my wife that they were the greatest. The price quote was $300-800 less than the others submitted so we gave them the go ahead and signed the contract, somewhat on the strength of their listing in Angie's list. As no one contacted us after signing the contract we called and an office person said that we were now in the 'queue' with not promised performance date. We promptly selected the paint colors, secured HOA approval and waited for fulfillment. Finally, the crew was scheduled to start sometime 3-4 weeks after. The crew did not show up on the day promised and we had to go out of town, so the process was restarted a couple of weeks later. I major obstacle came up, they could not find a match for the siding that needed replacement. I did some research and found a suitable replacement at a local lumber yard. As it turned out they finally found the correct siding from another source at the suggestion of the same lumber yard I had directed them to. They finally got the job done. On a Friday evening when my wife an I were about to leave for a social engagement one of Stellar's crew drove up and asked that I sign the acceptance form and pay him for the work. His English skills were limited, but I was able to convey the message that I would pay by check or CC when presented with an invoice and after having an opportunity to go over the job for any problems. We never did get an invoice. I finally paid the amount agreed to in the proposal and mailed the check, which was accepted and acknowledged. The work turned out all right but the whole thing could have been done more efficiently and professionally. Stellar's operation seemed pretty disorganized and 'loosey goosey'.

This Member's Request was received and our Logs indicate he was contacted within 24 Hours. We are typically booked out for appointments for at least a week this time of year even with 2 Account Managers and Myself. We matched up Schedules in a Good Way with him according to when his Wife could meet with us and that was in the 2 Week Time Frame described. All Indications are that we handled the Initial Phase of setting and showing up for the appointment in the professional manner of which is standard for us. The Strength of our Angie’s List Reports Overall, our now over 5000 Post Job Surveys of our Own with a 98% Avg. Rating of Excellent and our reputation for fairness and great end results does clearly reflect a leadership Position in this Market for what we do. Our Process dictates that we forward a e-mail and make a Phone Call that we have received the Bid and that we will call to confirm Scheduling once their Project comes up in the Que. Depending on the Time of Year we can be 2-4 weeks out on a Start date. This Client wanted us to tell them exactly what day which is near impossible because of Weather and Projects just taking shorter or longer than expected. All of this was properly communicated to this member. Asking us to crystal ball weather and project delays, ect. is just unreasonable. They knew that their projected date of startup may fall in somewhere close to when they were traveling out of town. We try and hit the target on a day as requested but sometimes it is a day or two sooner or later. This was also communicated. In their case it was just a day later. As per their request the Project was rescheduled to begin upon their return. Our records indicate all was well in this regard. The Siding for the Carpentry was an issue as the Company that previously manufactured it went out of Business. This Member in no way assisted with locating the Siding as my Crew Leader Bertin spent 18 hours phoning and visiting the various Lumber Yards in the City to Locate this Siding and we commend his efforts in this Members Behalf. I myself spent Hours on the Phone calling Alternative Manuf. and Lumber Yards even out of State. This member’s recommendation to us was to buy a similar type of Siding and retro-cut and modify the Siding to simulate what he had. This would have been very difficult at best and not likely would have produced an end result this member would have been happy with. We also asked this member to ask his HOA to see if they had any solutions and there were none there either. We finally got a call from a Lumber Yard in town that had located some of the siding in their Unique Inventory. This just simply took some time and ended up well only because of the diligent efforts of my team leader. We were so relieved to have found it! This member was difficult to schedule a Final Walk thru with and we left several messages to do so. Bertin speaks perfectly good English and left a message that he would be stopping by. It is OK to just say, "can you come by tomorrow, ect" Bertin is one of our most experienced Crew Leaders with us for now going on 8 years. We were making just an earnest effort to make sure all was well with the End Project and conduct our Final Walk thru which is a Critical part of our Process. This member had a copy of his Proposal and he knew what he owed. We send all our Clients a Final Statement of Payment which our records indicate was sent out to them in again the professional manner of which is standard for us. This member was out of Town quite a bit during the Search for the Siding and maybe that is his source of frustration. All I know is that we had his best interest at heart at all times and gave tremendous effort to resolve a Situation that came about due to no fault of us. It is disappointing & perplexing to us that this member chose to reflect our efforts in a different way. Nonetheless, our records indicate on this Members Final Walk thru, they were happy with the End Result. I know we worked hard to get it there. We wish this member well and we are here always to again serve them in an earnest, honest and heartfelt way for any future need.

I called for an estimate and they had their stucco sub call me and the sub told me he would stop to do an estimate in the next two days. I never heard from him again. I called Stellar again a week later and was told the sub would call me within a day. I never heard from them.

HT Plastering is not a Sub, he is a Referral. We gave the Member the contact right away when he called. HT does not work for us and while we pay attention to Referals and what they do or don't do we cannot be accountable for what they do in regards to appointments, ect. He Expressed his trouble to us yesterday & we gave the Member another contact Aug. 5 to help him. Seems like we did what we could do help him. We will address this with HT anf if he cannot make his comitments or return his phone calls in a good way, then we will no longer Refer him. We only do Minor Stucco Repairs if we are applying a Stucco Coating system. This seems unfair when we were responsive and did what we could for this Member requesting a service we do not perform, by passing some Contacts on to him in a good way.
