As I mentioned above, this company did not respond. I am not sure why they even advertise on Angies List. Makes me wonder if if was worth signing up for. Not sure why companies do this. This is a bad business practice.
Description of Work: I left a message at this company on 06/12, with a real person. She said she would have someone call me back. No one from this company has ever returned my call. they have lost my respect and my business.

I apologize to Member if for what she indicates was the case. However honest to gosh, we have absolutely no record of messages or e-mails of her call to the Painting Sales Office, the Remodeling Sales office, my cell phone or Jack's Cell Phone. If her call came in on Tues. and she filed a report on Thurs., why not just follow up with us? Maybe she was referred to Jack, who is out of town. Maybe the message slip fell under the desk. Maybe someone had 10 messages to pass along and hers got misplaced. Maybe someone is human and made a mistake. I don't know? All I am saying is, for heaven’s sake, such harsh reaction, such malice, such venom, such cavalier disregard of the responsibility of what these sorts of reports can do to business. Is that what online reviews and social media is really coming to? The short fuse vicious attack? What in the world has happened to human kindness and any kind of patience whatsoever? I have 2 people to answer the phone in the Sales Office. I have one lady to answer Inquiries directly for remodeling. I have 3 ladies in the accounting office to assist with ph. calls, my cell ph. , Jack' cell ph., & all are clearly listed as a source. That does not include direct contact e-mail inquiries available from Angie's List, contact forms on our website and direct e-mails to our sales office, Jack or me. The odds are very favorable that we will field your request promptly, professionally and timely. I just cannot do much more than that as a small business. This is the second report of this nature where we have no record of the call whatsoever with any of my staff. This is frustrating to us for sure. Was another contractor called? How many calls were made to how many diff. contractors? Who is Who? Which is Which? Who is not returning which call? We have evaluated and researched this Inquiry from Member for the entire day and have come up empty. I WANT to say we dropped the ball, so I can correct why it happened. I just cannot. I wish her well with her future calls to contractors and hope she finds a good fit for her project. Guy W. Miller President/CEO Stellar Painting and Remodeling

The job was done efficiently and professionally. The crew was easy to work with. They did the painting the way we requested. Before starting they discussed all possible options with us. Afterward they cleaned up thoroughly. They showed us their insurance and also references. We will be using them for more work in the future.
Description of Work: Stellar painted the outside of our house. We asked that the paint be rolled on and Stellar did as we requested. They caulked all the seams and windows while doing any needed repairs. Before starting, they gently washed the wood siding. Inside we had the dining room and living room painted. They also did a stairwell. They did two tone. The ceilings are high and arched. The dining room has a decorative ledge that was painted.

Greg arrived ontime to give an estimate for popcorn ceiling removal. He measured and spent a great deal of time explaining the process to me and the time it would take to remove. Very profesional and personable. Unfortunately we were unable to get the popcorn ceiling removed due to unexpected moving issues. We do plan to get it removed at a future date. I received the estimate via email about 4 days after the in house visit.

They set up an appointment to review the job and give me a bid. The bid came quickly via e-mail and a phone call. They arrived on the scheduled date/time and finished the job within the time quoted. Nice results.
Description of Work: Refinished my hardwood floor. Helped determine the stain color, provided a few samples. The sanders they used picked up a significant portion of the wood dust, so clean up wasn't bad.

Thanks for your consideration Member. We always strive to be market competitve. Sounds like we were close. Sometimes we are a liitle higher and sometimes we are not the highest, maybe even closer to the bottom. Hard to say how it shakes out in a compettive Market like this. I do know wthat we care, have our Clients best interests at heart first and formost and strive to provide quality people to perform the work for a positive end result at a Market valued and fair price, If we were a close second, you liked our Account Manager and the bid was competitve but a little higher, it is really perplexing to me why we deserved a "C" rating? We will always work hard to set ourselves apart from our Competition and if really evaluated we have doen that very successfully for 8 yr.s now in business.. We wish you well with your Contractor. It was a great experience from the bidding process to the end of the job. Their bid was a little higher than some of the other contractors but since we had previously used Stellar to do some exterior carpentry and paint, we knew that they delivered high quality finished products. So we selected them anyway. We weren't disappointed. The work crew showed up on time all three days, they were courteous, and every day when they left the job - they cleaned up and organized their materials. The estimated work time was accurate even though they had to do some additional patchwork. It looks beautiful.
Description of Work: Stellar came out and painted almost our entire first floor including doors, trim, and ceiling. They also did some drywall patchwork.

The experience could have been better. Robert, account manager, arrived to discuss my needs for painting our newly purchased home. He explained Stellar's dedication to quality. He measured the walls I requested to be painted. Some of the previous colors on the walls were bright and bold. We knew that multiple coats were needed to cover up the old colors. It took Robert about 5 days to get back to me with an estimate. Stellar's price was in the middle of the 3 contractors I spoke too. Robert knew this and even reduced the bid further to match closer to the lowest bid. I think this is what sealed the contract with Stellar. One of Stellar's crew began painting the walls about a week later. The job took 3 days with 4 crew members. On the 2nd day, the team leader called to inform me that they ran out of paint for the dinning room. I wasn't sure what I was suppose to say except you'll have to buy more to finish the job. Once it was completed, my wife and I had the "walk through". The walls looked great. We signed off and filled out their survey card stating that we were satisfied. It wasn't until we started detail cleaning our house when we noticed paint drops on the carpets in various rooms. There were even paint drops on the trim I painted before Stellar's crew painted. This wasn't paint that bled under the painter's tape, but drops of paint that fell from their rollers and brushes. I guess I was surprised to find so many errors throughout the house (kitchen, dinning room, guest bedroom, bathroom, and master bedroom) after Robert's sales pitch clearly states that Stellar protects and seals everything off from paint. Overall I know Stellar didn't protect my floors and trim as promised since I found a lot of rooms with paint splatter on the floors. In the future, I know I will not request a bid from Stellar to paint the exterior of our house. *****In regards to the Stellar's Response I know that Stellar is just a phone call away. Due to the nature of our home, I had multiple contractors (window installation, carpet cleaning, HVAC cleaning, and movers) lined up. My deadline was tight and I didn't want to "juggle" everything due to Stellar's revisit. In addition, I would have had to schedule an additional day-off of work for me. When I don't work, I don't get paid. Therefore I did the clean-up myself, as we were moving into our house.
Description of Work: Stellar Painting measured the interior of our house. About 5 days later, a formal estimate was received. We accepted the bid due to the detailed contract. The work started about 1 week later. It took 3 days for 4 guys to paint the interior of our house, approx 2,600 sq.ft. We used 8 colors.

We appreciate this member’s concerns and take our protection packages very seriously and continue to train and coach our Teams to do it the "Stellar Way". The Team that performed this job has a consistently great track record and has turned in some of our Best Surveys. However, given the human derived nature of this business this sort of thing can happen and the review and clean-up of any drips or Paint dust could have been better. It is never our expectation for a Client to clean up any drips, ect. Had this client called with his concerns we would have been right back within 24 hrs. to make it all right and myself or the Account Manager would have been over as well to supervise and make sure it was taken care of it. I believe the work itself was finished to a high Standard. Clean Lines to transition Points were right on and Colors/Finishes were consistent. I know we had the project wrapped but needed to get the Plastic and Film tighter to the Baseboards and locked down better in general as the plastic has a tendency to pull away on a longer/larger project as it is walked on. Protecting Interior surfaces from paint is challenging as paint just plain likes to go everywhere you do not want it to be. We have always been very dedicated to this effort and will continue to focus on improving and leading the Market in Customer Care. We have spoken with this Crew and they understand what must be corrected for next time. One final point, always give your Contractor the opportunity to make something right or improve a situation. We would have done anything for this member to address his concerns give a simple phone call of concern. The "Good Guys" want to hear from you and help. I did not build this company based on being "Mistake Free" but on truly caring, always doing what is right and producing great end results for a fair price. We are always saddened when we do not know someone had an issue and wish this member well with his future projects.

These gentlemen were great from start to finish. Very polite crew always making sure everything was protected, keeping us informed of when they would be there and who would be on the job. I found them on Angie's List but would not go with them again. Communication was definitely a problem; the guy who came out to appraise and get everything set up then sent his team out; apparently there was a breakdown in communication there. I had to be there pretty much overseeing every step of the way; it was ridiculous. The work was decent; the head guy told them stuff they needed to do and there were also things they needed to come back and finish which they wanted to charge me extra for. I called the head guy to tell him it was not working; I could reach them to complain but they did not do anything about it. They showed up in the mornings when they were supposed to; time management was their own issue. I will not use them again in the future.
Description of Work: I used Stellar Painting & Remodeling to install a set of French doors, which required some drywall work. They also put in bookcases in an open doorway and enclosed it in with drywall.

We finished this project to a positive end result. This member travels allot and we had to make several trips back and forth on several diff. occasions to complete the project. Establishing continuity was difficult and communicating with this member was also challenging due to the aforementioned travel schedule. Continuity is a critical element to the successful “good feel” experience for any project. The ability to accomplish this is shared by both parties. We searched faithfully and extensively, at some measureable expense to us, for a flooring match for a hardwood repair. In the end she did not want to pay for the min amt. of the Hardwood planking that was required by this supplier. That’s OK, but for gosh sakes give good intending people some credit for being genuine and trying to be of service. We worked very hard for her, were patient to the end and did everything we could possibly do, like is our nature, to make her happy. We wish her well.

After getting the quote and picking out our granite, we had to schedule a time for the kitchen to be templated. At the same time, we picked out our sink and faucet and delivered those to the granite guys (Rock Solid) so they could template the hole for the sink. Then came the tear-out which was done by Stellar. Then guys from Rock Solid came to install the granite after which guys from Stellar came back to put the sink and faucet in. This all happened in one day. A day or so later a different contractor came to put the backsplash in. (We had to go purchase the backsplash on our own--along with the grout, caulk, etc.) This process took about three days since we had to allow drying time. When it was all done, I tried to put in my new electrical outlets and found that the tiles weren't trimmed back enough, so I called Jack. He immediately got the tile guy out to fix the problem. I'm so happy with the quality of the work, the responsiveness and the end result. When I need more work done, I'll give Stellar a call first for a quote. To clarify, the total of $3700 did not include the cost of the sink, faucet or tiles, which we purchased on our own.
Description of Work: I'm updating my previous report since I had Stellar back to my house to give me a quote on kitchen countertops and backsplash. It started with a visit from Guy who talked about my request and provided a quote. We then went to Granite Imports to pick out our slab based on the grades that Guy provided in the quote. We worked directly with Jack from Stellar on all the scheduling and specifics--he was GREAT to work with and answered all questions in a timely manner. In the end, we got new slab granite, a new single-basin sink and faucet, and new subway tile backsplash. It's beautiful and I couldn't be more pleased with the end result.

We at Stellar do the best we can to monitor and Evaluate our Employees. This Employee had been with us for some time (4 years) and experienced personal issues that were unfortunate and eventually effected his performance at Work. As a Compassionate Company and given the yr.'s he had accrued with the Company, we did the best we could to work with him through these issues. Unfortunately they ultimately could not be worked out and we had to release this individual. We have since promptly re-connected with this member and are in the Process of submitting a bid to take care of her in the considerate & advisory manner of which is standard for our Company. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate this member thinking enough of us to allow us to re-visit and accommodate her needs.

Project took about 6 weeks. Because the house had some uneven walls time consuming work was needed to make trim fit right and revamped electrial was a challange. I was impressed with the quality of the carpentery work. The lead carpenter, Rob, was a prefectionist .Our main contact, Jack Wilson, was unually available by phone and stopped by to check on progress freuqently. He offered a host of good ideas. The 2 man crew was careful with the house putting down tarps to cover the floors when moving in and out and cleaning up well every day at quiting time. Rob was quick to return to touch up or fix anything that was a concern after we started using the kitchen again. And on a project this big there are always little things poping up. Stellar was receptive, fair on their pricing and open to communication. We never felt pressured and are pleased with the results. Thank you Jack and rob

Intro meeting on time and pleasant.Bid came in right on even with some additional work. Problem was miscommunication about completion date even when I moved out of the house to let them remove toilet to complete job. Obviously overbooked and there were 'stories' about why couldn't work on various days. Many times I had to initiate the call to find out what was happening.

We can appreciate any Members frustration with Targeted Completion dates. However, there were legitimate circumstances of which caused the delay and the targeted completion date was only missed by one business Day. She wanted us to complete by Friday so she did not have to stay away in a relatives house for another day and we Finished on Monday. The circumstances of the delay were as follows: 1) The Subfloor was Water damaged substantially and this was unforeseen upon 1st inspection since it was below the existing floor that we removed. We re-built this and she was notified that it could possibly delay the finish date of the Project which seems reasonable to me. 2) The Crew Working on her Project are Brothers and their Father-In-Law Passed Away suddenly requiring them both to attend to this Tragedy during the tail end of that week and over the weekend. She was also notified of this. Seemingly this was seen as an inconvenience. At Stellar it is our policy to give our Employees time to grieve and attend wakes, funerals and support their Families in Times of such untimely Tragedies. Even with those Circumstance taken into account, Evie the Crew Leader, worked late on Saturday after attending to his Family and on Sunday to attempt to accommodate this member. Apparently, this extra effort goes without any positive credit whatsoever and the circumstances of which were described above were not taken into consideration. I believe this report is unfair and sad given the effort we put forth in good faith to make this Client Happy. What more a Good, Kind Contractor can do to take extra steps to bring something in as timely as possible given the circumstances is surely unknown to me. In conclusion, The Project was completed to a high standard, she was satisfied with the End Result and even given the aforementioned circumstances was completed only 1 business day beyond the targeted date. We wish this Member well with her future Contractors.

We were about to submit a bid on a condo that would need major renovation. We wanted some assurance of what the renovation costs might be. I talked to Jack (head of Stellar remodeling dept.) at the Home Show on a Saturday and he made time to meet us at the condo location on Sunday morning. He spent over an hour with us and gave us some great suggestions and, most important, a good ballpark figure of what the remodeling might cost. This helped us to decide what amount to bid on the place. Unfortunately, our bid was turned down, but the place still hasn't sold. When we are finally able to get an apartment in this building or another, our first call will be to Jack at Stellar Remodeling and we won't even consider anyone else.

Robert came by promptly at his designated time to measure the rooms and provide an estimate. He worked with their office to make sure they could complete the 2 1/2 day job the following week. The crew of 3 arrived at 8:00 on a Tuesday morning and quickly began the long process of taping everything off, laying drop cloths and protective plastic. The ceilings were scraped clean on the first day. The next day the same crew arrived to skim coat and texture the ceilings. The final day the crew primed and painted. They finished on schedule after a walk-through to make sure we were happy with everything. The final product is beautiful and looks as though it belongs in the house. The dust was minimal as they closed off vents and had many layers of protective plastic to keep debris from moving throughout the house. I watched them meticulously vacuum the stairs at the end of each day. The crew worked tirelessly and I never even saw them take a break. I would highly recommend Stellar, Robert and the entire crew to anyone looking for popcorn removal and new texture.
Description of Work: I contacted Stellar for a quote to remove popcorn ceiling texture, skim coat, retexture, prime and paint all the ceilings in the upper level of my newly purchased 1980's house. Robert came out to do the quote and provided an incentive to do all the rooms instead of piecing them out. The price was fair and they could do the work in the tight timeline I needed, before moved our furniture in. The crew of 3 came out and completed all the work beautifully!

Overall, the workmanship was everything we expected! Jack Wilson, who acted as contractor, made sure every detail met his high standards! Jacks years of experience were evident! His advise and ideas were never about the bottom line. He was genuinely wanted what was best for us and the outcome of the remodel!
Description of Work: This remodel was done "long distance"! Our condo is in Dillon, CO and our primary residence is in Louisville KY. Ninety percent of the work was done while we were in KY. After our first meeting in Dillon, we emailed or spoke on the phone. Communication was excellent!!!!!. Any questions or concerns were answered promptly and always curtiously! We have used Stellar remodeling for two large projects in the past 2 years. Our first remodel included a master bedroom and bath. The bathroom had a large bathtub (circa 1970s) that was removed and a washer dryer installed. A vent had to be made that was placed in a soffet that ran the length of the bedroom. They used the same sofet to install recessed lighting.New closets were also made. The bathroom had a new vanity, sink granite, tile floor,, toilet, and a steam shower was installed in the exsisting shower stall. The shower had new tile and a new multi head shower fixture along with a new glass door . New lighting and new stained trim through out. Both bath and master bedroom were painted and the bedroom had new carpet installed. The second project included 2 more full bathstotally renovated and new stained wood trim through out the condo. (doors, closets, floor trim) We kept the bathubs in the remaining two baths, but since the bathtubs were Harvest Gold, we had them reglazed white. They look like new! We met the crew that worked on both projects . The same crew has been with Stellar for many years. That says alot! We were impressed with their professionalsim. They also took care of our condo while working there. (covered furniture, took pictures of the wall, etc)The pricing is alittle on the high end, but you get what you pay for, and we couldn't be happier with the results! We are going to remodel our kitchen next and Stellar will be our first company we call.

Estimator came promptly & discussed in detail our project. He worked up several quotes for me (on the weekend!) & got me estimates very quickly. The estimates were competitive & very responsible for the work desired.Since we were moving in a couple of weeks, I wanted the work to be performed before we moved in. Stellar could meet my tight deadline & they sent the team out to our house at our convenience. The crew showed up on time, & got the entire project done in one day! They didn't leave until the project was completed which meant about 6:30 pm! I have had much experience working with contractors as to I am "in the industry" myself selling commercial interior products to commercial contractors. I am used to a lot of contractors leaving the job site at 3:00 or 4:00. This crew took their time to perform great work. They were polite/professional/courteous. The job leader (Victor?) walked through the project before they started to make sure they knew exactly what I wanted done. Then, walked me through the finished job to make sure everything was done to my satisfaction . I was very pleased with the outcome & would definitely use them again. We are thinking of painting our exterior deck/patio & will certainly give them another call! Also, since I had purchased some of the paint myself (since I had a commercial account), I was called later to tell me they had included the paint in the quote & that they were refunding my credit card with $150 for paint! Now that is honesty in business!
Description of Work: We wanted a couple of quotes for doing interior painting on a home that we just purchased but hadn't moved into yet. We wanted to do some of the work ourselves, so I had Stellar work me up several quotes for various areas of painting such as: cathedral ceilings only; rec room/ceilings/foyer only /all bedrooms etc.

They had to be very careful with my cats as they want outside all the time. I did go with the higher bid (had 3) because I liked what I saw on Angie's web site.
Description of Work: Had most of the inteior of my home painted. They did the job in two days... Did a superb job. I had little cleanup when they left.

The true quality of a company is not whether or not they make mistakes; let's be honest, it's an extremely rare instance where a home improvement project completes flawlessly. What demonstrates the real character of a company is what they do when things don't go as planned. I purchased an Angie's List deal for wallpaper removal of one room. When Donna from Stellar called to schedule the job, I informed her that not only did I want the wallpaper removed, but I also wanted it patched, primed and painted. However, when the team showed up to do the job, they were only aware of the wallpaper removal portion of the job, and had a walk through for another job scheduled that afternoon, so they couldn't stay and complete the work I'd planned to have done. Needless to say, I was not pleased (to put it mildly). Everything changed when Guy, the owner of Stellar, called me that same day. He was extremely apologetic for the communication failure that had resulted in my job only being partially completed. He assured me that he would have the team out the next day to continue work (even though it was a Saturday), he would give me a 10% discount to help compensate us for the inconvenience, and he would do all in his power to make sure the job was completed to our specifications. The work was continued the next day and completed the following week. Guy came over to check on the progress and to apologize again for their scheduling error and the inconvenience it had caused. The crew was extremely professional and did an outstanding job. I'm extremely anal about the small details and had a number of small touch ups for the final walk through. The crew never once complained about any of my requests (no matter how nit picky my wife thought some of them were), and Guy even came over once they were finished to ensure I was satisfied with their work. I would recommend Stellar to anyone looking for wallpaper removal, drywall repair, or interior painting - not because they're perfect, but because they do all in their power to ensure the job is done right and the customer is satisfied when the work is complete.

Many Thanks to the member for taking the time to post kind words about us. We are proud to have earned a "Page of Happiness" with him and his Family. Many times when something does not go perfect from start to finish we never hear anything positive from that Client and sometimes we even get an unfavorable review. However, as with the member, we have always worked with each Client to make sure we attend to there concerns promptly and ensure the end result is what they had hoped for. The Fabric of what I built at Stellar has always been based on Kindness, Fairness, Patience and Persistence. Everyone at Stellar deeply cares about our Customer Family and the focus of Stellar will always be to provide processes and improvements in how we do business with Positive End Results and a Good Experience in mind. We Deeply appreciate members like him, we see the value in a company that truly cares and shows that with "what they actually do" and not what they just claim or say they will do. The two workers were punctual, efficient and professional. Some additional work was completed at a per hour charge and this was also completed as requested. No problems. I think that this company does what they say they will do and i will probably use them again.
Description of Work: Removed wallpaper from two rooms, repaired some areas of dry wall and retextured 2 rooms. They then repainted these areas.

We purchased the recent Angie's List deal, which offered 8 hours of wallpaper removal services for $199. The offer stated the following: "Stellar Painting & Remodeling, a 4-time Super Service Award winner, is offering up to 8 man hours of wallpaper removal and drywall/plaster repair for only $199! Every room/house is different and some projects take more time than others but they can typically get around a 160 sq. ft. room's wallpaper removed, walls washed and completely paint ready in 8 man hours. Additional hours are charged at a special rate of $35/man hour." The offer also offered the following disclaimer, which I understood completely: "Wallpaper removal and the wall preparation is very unpredictable: Sometimes the wallpaper comes off easily in large sheets, sometimes it needs to be chipped off inch by inch." We typically don't sign up for deals online, but since we had this project to complete and were not very knowledgeable about companies in the area, we opted to give it a try. From start to finish, this is how it went.... The representative who scheduled our appointment was polite and friendly. We received a confirmation call the day before our service which was appreciated. When asked what time I could expect the workers to arrive she was unsure. I was told that they typically depart around eight, but that I would receive a call to let me know in the morning. The morning of our project, the two gentlemen arrived at eight (I think, but cannot remember the time exactly). I did not ever receive the call, but that did not matter to me. I considered them on time. They were very polite. Each of them introduced themselves. I showed them the space and they went to their vehicle to collect their tools. When they returned inside, they immediately went back upstairs to the bathroom which they were working in and began. At this point, I did not see the tools they were carrying, I had only caught a glimpse of them on their way upstairs. I heard them moving around and heard scraping. I did not check in for a while and when I thought to, the door was shut. I could hear them working behind it. They seemed to be working very hard, and did not seem to be taking breaks. About 2.5 hours into the job, I returned upstairs and found the door open. When I looked in I was a little confused about the amount of wallpaper that had been removed. I had read the disclaimer and understood that some wallpaper was harder than others to remove, but I had removed identical wallpaper in another bathroom just weeks before. When I looked around I noticed that the only tools they had were one bottle of spray adhesive remover (I will give them the benefit of the doubt and assume it was contractor strength) and a couple of putty knives. The walls looked terrible as a result of the putty scraping. There was no steamer to remove wallpaper. I was pretty shocked by this since I assumed I was hiring a professional company to complete the job. I asked if they had one and they said no. It took me about 30 minutes to find mine which I gave them to use. They were very polite and thanked me. At the end of my four hours, the lead worker showed me the work they had completed. They had cleaned the area very well. Wallpaper removal is messy and I really appreciated the clean area! He thanked me again for letting him use the steamer. The wall which he had used the steamer on looked very nice. No deep cuts to the drywall like on the other walls. He then provided me with a review form to complete and sign. On the way out the door he asked me how much my steamer cost and I told him around $50. He then said it was too bad because if he had had it the whole time, the job would have been completed. I found that very disappointing. It took a week or two, but I decided to call and submit a complaint to the Company. I spoke with the supervisor. I explained how great the workers were in terms of politeness and work effort, but explained that I was disappointed that they were not prepared with the appropriate tools. I told her I gave them a good review on their form because they didn't really do anything wrong and worked as hard as they could. I also stated that I wasn't looking for anything further, but I would not use them going forward. This was disappointing because planned to have them complete the job and now I had a half complete bathroom. The supervisor apologized and explained that there had been a funeral which their whole painting crew had to attend last minute in Mexico and that caused some disorganization. She explained that they were normally prepared with the tools needed, but maybe could not locate them. It only made matters worse with me that normally they have tools, which they did not have that day. She made no effort to win my business back or to fix what went wrong. Such a disappointing experience. It could have been so much better with the right tools and a manager who cared about keeping a customer.

We do not use Steamers to remove wallpaper. While it will work in some cases it has been our experience that it will most often not work if the paper has been installed on the wall without wall sizing or is very old in nature and it will in fact take longer. In a more perfect setting the steamer works fine but we are more often confronted with a non-perfect setting. It is presumtive at best for someone to assume that they know more about what the right tool is for a given set of tasks than we do. Just because it has worked for them does not make it the right tool overall for most settings. In addtion, Steamers have a tendency to break down over a short period of time, will not give off as much heat and their effectiveness lessens over time making them eventually useless. A Household Steamer sitting in a closet is one thing vs, a Steamer needed for multiple commercial uses. Again to reiterate, given a perfect or otherwise ideal setting, the steamer will work and can remove paper, but again with varied results like any other method.. Therefore, we approach wallpaper with a method that consistantly works all the time. This is just a smart way to run a business. We use the removal solution, paper tigers to scour the paper and paper scrapers/5 in one tools to remove the paper. Our crews are eager to please and will always use something that a Client requests in order to be kind and satisfy them and they did so in this case, It was HIS 8 hrs. and if he wanted us to use the steamer we would do so. The bottom line here is that this offer was for 2 men for 4 hrs. and this member did not wish to pay anything additonal to complete the task. Had he indicated a strong desire to complete the task and we had been given the opportunity to do so, all the walls would have been repaired, textured and painted. Easy to show unflattering pictures of walls not completed. Damage to walls with Wallpaper removal is common with either tool. Again, steamers are not the magic bullet in that regard. Had this member indicated a further interest in us completing the project , we would have made arrangements for the Crew to return to do so . The funeral was for this Families Father and was here in Denver. I am not completelty sure what the point was in bring up such a thing in a review, They did not rush off because of arrangements for this tradedy in their lives. Irregardless of these circumstances, we were there and would have worked further for this client had he indicated an earnest desire for that beyond the 8 hrs. It does not make us a bad company because we did not show up with a steamer, that damage was done to the wall which is common or that this member wanted us to accomplish more in the alloted time as he had no real desire to go further than that. We worked hard for him, we were there as promised even with the tragedy that had befallen this crew's Family, used a tool that he requested in good faith to please and did everything we could to give him the most for the alloted time. With this type of mass special offered to members on the Angies List 'Big Deal" and with more than a dozen sold, it is not suprising to me that we could not please everyone perfectly, use the tools that they think we should have used or get enough done in the alloted time, especially if there was no intention really in paying something addl. for us to complete it. I believe a D rating is very harsh and unfair. We will make it clear in the future that we do not use steamers to remove paper due to their tendecy to break down and provide varied results. I wish this member well with his future Wallpaper removal contractors.
