Description of Work: We had a shower that was leaking. We were able to get Greg to come within a few days. While it took two tries, he eliminated a serious and hard to find problem.

Very good, see above.
Description of Work: Greg had to finish a kitchen remodel after we fired the original contractor. He had to try to match cabinet stain and find doors for 5 cabinets not finished. He built a complete pantry cabinet after finding the old one to far gone to save. He was quick and had the major work finished in time for us to put our kitchen back together before Christmas. The other contractors we called were booked 2 months in advance and their estimate was double of Greg's.

It went very well.
Description of Work: Greg replaced a GFI switch that had gone bad and put outdoor weather covers on two exterior outlets, he added an electrical outlet in our basement storage room and repaired a ceiling light fixture that was broke. He also checked two outlets that were giving us problems and removed, and hung a new foyer chandelier. He was very nice to work with, and his estimate was much more affordable than other estimates we had gotten for the same work.

It was a pleasure to work with Greg. He came every day and worked on the project. He hualed away all the old stuff and finished both baths in 3 weeks. He then returned a couple of times to touch some things up and get it all finalized. I paid him a portion up front, then some after it was almost done then the rest when all was finished. Greg worked in my house when we were at work and also when we were in Mexico. And I felt he could be trusted. The don'ts we experienced was in buying a hall tub. My husband bought one from Loews on line and did not see it. When Greg went to pick it up and brought it home it was a cheap tub and he knew not what we wanted so he contacted my son and then he went to Tony Capra's Bath house and bought a nicer tub and picked it up and installed it. This was a big help.
Description of Work: I have wanted to remodel the master bath for a while and after completing a kitchen remodel I decided it was time to bite the bullet and do the master and also get prices for the kids bath (which has now become my husbands). I contacted the contractor that did my kitchen and he had a designer he is now working with contact me. I told him that I had 3 things I wanted: a larger shower, a makeup area and a linen closet. He drew up a couple of designs and felt that I needed to eliminate my master tub to get a larger shower and put a second sink where the tub was. He then bid it all out and the total cost was about $38,000 for the two baths and that was with using the existing hall tub and no painting. A freind told me about Angies List so I joined so I could get the names and reviews for bath remodelers. When I looked up my area Greg Black appeared in 8 reviews which was the most for any I looked up. All were wonderful except one and he responded to that one. I contacted Greg on Super Bowl Sunday (intending to leave a message) and he answered. He told me he would come look at my bath and give me an estimate. He came when he told me, looked at both baths and listened to want I wanted to accomplish and then sent me a bid by e-mail. His cost to demolish all, enlarge the shower, install a spa tub, put in new cabinets (one was a linen cab), sinks, new tile up to the ceiling in the shower and on the floor, move some lights and install new lighting bars and install all new faucets and shower heads in both baths was a total of $7,800 for the labor and material (like drywall, grout, sealer etc) for both baths. I bought a granite remnant from someone I used in the kitchen and purchased my very nice tile from The Great Indoors and bought my cabinets from Mile High Kitchens (which gave me a wonderful price) and bought the Moen faucets and shower heads from an online supplier. I bought my spa tub and the new hall tub from Tony Capri Bath house (Greg suggested them) and then my new lighting from Loews and my semi framless shower doors from Bell Shower Doors which Greg suggested. Greg did all the install and moving of plumbing and electrical himself and then made sure all was done to code and even corrected one existing that was not done to code. I ran into a problem with my cabinets where I bought my linen cabinet for one area and then when he put it there it closed the room up. Greg suggested I move it to another wall where he would then need to move the electrical off the wall and put it into the new cabinet. He did this and then changed the cabinet door swings to make them swing the correct way since they were moved. Greg did not charge me extra for any of this and this saved my bath project. I can't tell you how happy I am with both the new baths. The tile work was done beautifully and my spa is so relaxing and my larger shower and rain head make me feel like I just bought a new expensive home. And the best is my makeup area where I can now sit and put on makeup and have a makeup mirror attached to my linen cabinet wall so I can adjust to any view. I am going to have Greg replace my windows which are 25 years old and do some other things around my house. He is pleasant and trustworthy and really takes pride in his work product and will do what it takes to get it done correctly and looking good. I really appreciate the Angies List reference and would gladly recommend Greg to do any remodel job in your home. My total cost for all labor, new tile, granite, all new maple cabinets, toilets, a regular tub and a spa tub, moen fixtures and the related piping to go with them (including two great rain heads) sinks and making two mirrors from my cabinet wood was just under $19,000. And this included better faucets, tubs and painting. So about $20,000 less than the other bid and I got exactly what I wanted.

I don't remember the price but I would say it was reasonable. I chose him because of the information we found on Angie's List. We also spoke with one of the people that lived close by that he had done work for and they were pleased with his work.
Description of Work: Greg Black did some drywall work and bathroom remodeling work. He put in some vanities for us.

Great!
Description of Work: We have used Greg for two projects. In May of this year we hired Greg to completely renovate our hall bath. He took everything out, replacing tub, toilet, tile, floor, vanity, sinks (including new plumbing), mirror, medicine cabinet and lighting (including a new light source) in 5 days (Monday - Friday). He had one helper that was here the demo and for the tiling - maybe 2 or 3 days. Greg did a great and timely job. We provided all the fixtures (from the wall out) and had purchased them when he started (most of them were in the garage but he did pick up a few of the larger items like the bathtub). He supplied all the other materials (behind the wall and floor). We were completely satisfied with everything. We were amazed at the speed in which he completed the project. He provided a contract outlining everything he would do, and did it. We also asked him to do a couple of extra things - outside the contract (dry wall repair and paint touchup in the living room), for which we paid him additional money. When he finished, we mentioned that we had some other projects that needed to be done, but we weren't quite ready to begin, so we asked Greg to keep us in mind when he had some time later in the year. He called on December 7th to say he had some free time before Christmas. He came over on the 8th and we decided to remodel the master bathroom. He couldn't start until the 10th and we had family coming on the 20th which left only 10 days for the work - as well as the purchasing of all the materials and fixtures. We knew it would be tight, but Greg was willing, so we decided to move forward. He is absolutely amazing. We had a design and floor plan in our heads, he was able to interpret it, and completed the project on the 20th (10 full working days), with the exception of a couple of minor details (that we were waiting for the materials to come in for). He brought in a helper for the demolition and for the tile work, but otherwise did all of the work himself. We were thrilled with the results. The bathroom/bedroom was complete enough for us to move back into on the 20th, and Greg will be back next week to add some molding to the closet and attach the toe-kick to the vanity. The project involved converting a small 1970's bathroom/closet (with a shower, toilet, single sink and small walk-in closet to a 5-piece master bathroom and new reach-in closets in the master bedroom). It was a complete demolish and rebuilding including walls, plumbing, electric and lighting. He's quick, clean, trustworthy, professional, and does excellent work. We are completely satisfied and would not hesitate to use him again. Because I was usually out shopping while he was at our house working, he did most of the work without our being home. He is a fast worker, so be prepared in advance, otherwise he'll be waiting on you! If you want something done a specific way, let him know in advance. We tried to stay out of Greg's way, and did not get too involved in the little decisions because our involvement just slowed him down. He's very attentive and listens carefully to everything we talked about. He made both projects very enjoyable and we felt that he charged a very fair price. As with any contractor - read the contract to make sure it includes everything you want done, and the timeframe you expect. I never expected Greg to do something we didn't have in the contract but he did do a few extras - like building a tiled niche in the shower wall. We feel confident that if Greg overlooked something, or if we weren't satisfied, he would remedy the situation, and do so in a timely manner.

Would not recommend him nor would I use him again for any contracting job.
Description of Work: Was to redo my kitchen. Never finished the job. Whenever I noticed a problem(floor not level, cracks/unevenness in the cabinets, etc.) and asked him about it, he stated he couldn't fix it. Wanted too much $$ up front, and acted like he didn't want to do the work that was requested and agreed upon. Also noticed little things about my bathrooms that he did, i.e. shower door not put on right, tile pieces broken on ends and he never mentioned this after job was done. Disgusted; will never use him again for any job.

Response from GREG BLACK
This job was completed per the written contract, and the customer has never called with any complaints afterward. She did request a fair amount of extra work to be thrown in at the end which was not included in the budget, and it was far beyond the scope of the original project. The Member changed her mind many times during the project on what she wanted, and was upset at the end that we could not do all of the additional work for free. Everything we do is laid out in a detailed plan in writing before we start, so that our customers are always satisfied that they know how the work will progress and what will be included in the cost.

Greg had the whole project done in 5 days, which was really nice since that bathroom was our only shower. He was very concerned about the quality of his work. A few weeks after the job was complete there was a small leak at one of the joints on the copper plumbing that went to the shower. Greg came out on a weekend as soon as I called him and fixed it. We have had no problems since and are very pleased with the work he did. Already have several future projects in mind for him.
Description of Work: Complete demolition of the bathroom and rebuild. Poor Greg discovered we had a cast-iron tub that needed to come out, and that was quite a bit of work! Removed tile and first layer of flooring, then rebuilt a tile shower with river-stone flooring, re-installed toilet, installed new sink, medicine cabinet, lighting. Bathroom looked night and day different after he was done.

Greg is a great guy. Really easy to work with. He was always on time Cleaned up after each day and called me every night! The shower looks wonderful. He also patched some drywall and put a light in an other bathroom. He even let my dogs in after he was done!!!!
Description of Work: We had an old shower stall that could not be used. Greg came and told me how we could remodel it. It was a lot of work because the whole floor had to be redone and the floor drain moved. Old tile had to be removed new green board installed.

He was easy to work with, punctual and was very responsive to our needs. He was able to come out and help us pick the materials. He offered guidance and the finished product looks great. He was very conscientious and extremely helpful. He spent a lot of time walking us through it and was very professional. We will definitely use him again. He cleaned up every day after he was done with his work.
Description of Work: He did the floor and light maintenance on one of our bathrooms. On another bathroom, he did the flooring and helped patch drywall. He replaced the bathtub, re-did the tiling on the walls and did the floor throughout the bathroom.

It was a great experience. He was responsible, helpful, stayed within our budget, and finished right on time. He was easy to reach, understood and cared about our questions and concerns during the process, and knew exactly the right way to do things. We're thrilled with our new basement, and also with the value it has added to our house.
Description of Work: Greg Black did a basement finish job for us that turned out perfect. He worked with us until all of our plans fell in line with our budget. We added a theater room, a bedroom, built-in closets, and a 3/4 bath. He also built an egress window in the basement for fire-escape purposes. The project also included tile work, painting, paneling, the full bathroom design, and a lot of other miscellaneous work.

The job was excellent! Thanks to Greg Black's great organized and pre-planning of each task. It was professionally accomplished by him. He kept every thing tidy and cleaned-up before leaving job every day. He was a pleasure in working with on our bathroom remodeling project.

The work project required removing the shower stall and making the shower area larger by removing an adjacent linen closet. Changing the hinged bathroom door to a new pocket door, for easy wheelchair accessibility. Cut out floor of shower area and lowered floor joist 2". Installed new shower floor, removed original toilet vent pipe and capped outlet on roof and installed new air inlet toilet vent valve inside shower wall. Installed custom shower base and tiled level with bath floor. Finished shower wall boards, drywall also ceiling patch, replaced sink and shower head; touched-up textured wall and ceiling and applied stain coat to door.
