I went to your site and found one contractor on your list S&J. Front Range was a referral from Nextdoor. Front Range came out right away the next morning for a quote and education. Lots of material and instruction. S&J estimate came later. Third bid was Day and Night. FR won the bid and installed it the next day...all in one day. Much more qualified than the other two contractors. S&J a one page quote and the company was not as qualified. FR does it all including all the paperwork for Excel. Got my $850 furnace rebate in less than two weeks. They just came out and took measurements on the AC (>70 degrees outside) and the paperwork for $1000 rebate on the SEER 16 AC unit. At first I thought I would only get an 80% furnace and SEER 13 AC but with the rebates you can get a 96 Aflu furnace and SEER 16 AC for only a little more with lifetime warranty and worth it because I plan to stay here for 10 years. Amana is the best unit to get as parts are here directly as others are harder to find.

I contacted 5 companies from Angies list during the bid process for a new AC and Furnace at a Townhome I was selling. All 5 companies supplied me with detailed bids, but Front Range Mechanical stood out in their approach and their professionalism. Steve, the owner came to my house and gave me a thorough overview of what was required. He presented me with a bid on the spot and went into detail on how with Xcel rebates, I could purchase upgraded equipment at less than what the basic AC and Furnace would have cost. The price was very competitive with the other bids I had received. The equipment was installed in two days and I couldn't be happer with the end result. The installation team was on time and did a wonderful job. If i ever need HVAC equipment or service in the future, I will certainly call Steve and his staff at Front Range Mechanical. The new owners of the home are thrilled with the equipment and the installation. Good job!

Working with this company has been truly awesome. We had received quotes from other reputable firms around the Denver metro area, so we had a basis for comparison. In the end the choice to go with Front Range Mechanical Services was a no brainer. The owner of the company showed up to assess our needs. He did his homework on the specifics of our home and had gathered the required technical information on the square footage and other important information before he arrived. He did a detailed assessment of our needs, made quality recommendations and quoted a fair price. He went out of his way to make sure everything was in writing, explain HVAC terminology and promised to honor the quote. The installation crew arrived on schedule and, as promised, were seasoned professionals with years of experience and training under their belt. The install team were clean, courteous, hard working and answered all of my questions. It took them a full day to replace both the AC, Furnace and required duct changes. When they left they cleaned the work area completely and explained al l the features of our new system. As a bonus, they took care of all paperwork required to claim our Excel energy rebate for our new high efficiency system. The system is running flawlessly and we are very pleased with our choice of systems and especially with the professional installation results. We have had problems with other non-HVAC contractors in the past, so this experience was a nice change. I highly recommend you talk to these guys before you commit with another company.

Furnace stopped working (in the cold of winter). Technician came and diagnosed the problem, then had to go get the appropriate part. So far I have no issue. However, the part was under warranty but it cost $500 for 45 minutes worth of labor labor and service call charge (which was not applied to the repair).

Response from Front Range Mechanical Services
We had never had any prior contact with the [Member Information Removed]. He told us that his furnace had failed and it should still have some warranty. We did not install his furnace. We told the homeowner that depending on the factory warranty there would probably be a labor charge as well our diagnostic and trip charge of $95.00 in advance during his setting the appointment. Our NATE certified technician came out within the hour and spent half an hour diagnosing the furnace to determine that a variable speed motor and transformer hub had failed. We called two suppliers and verified the motor parts were covered by a factory warranty for a part swap. The tech went downtown to a parts house and waited for the motor to be pulled from inventory and then he took it back and spent forty five minutes reinstalling and testing the new motor. His total dispatch time was three hours and we billed [Member Name Removed] $400 for the labor involved on changing out a complicated part. His total invoice was $495 and he became upset that we charged that fee for his perception of our response. When he became argumentative with our technician he excused himself after cleaning up and left to avoid any further conflict. The [Member Information Removed] was all about the price-value of work. The owner called two other company's and their labor rates alone were over $600 for this part replacement. The fact that our technician was factory trained, efficient, and competent was never acknowledged in saving the [Member Information Removed] any money. We're sorry he was disappointed.

The entire process, from the estimate until the last bit of installation was complete, went very smoothly. I got estimates from three companies, and Front Range was definitley the most prepared and thorough. The work was done exactly as promised, and they walked me through the rebate process as well.

It went really well, they got in and out in one day and made accomodations on the fly to keep the installation within code. Steve followed up with a detailed walk through afterwards -- real painless. He filled out the Xcel forms for me to get the furnace rebate right away and he's holding on to the AC rebate forms for when they contact me in the spring to do the test on the AC to demonstrate performance.
Description of Work: Very knowledgeable presentation by Steve the owner. Can convey details on any and every aspect of system. Knew pretty much what I wanted so it came down to a matter of price and reputation. Wanted the Amana with it's top line features with the more realistic pricing and the best warantee of any mfg. When getting quotes the sizing and pricing were all over the place. Because of the amount I talked to like 8 different contractors. Because of the Xcel rebates went with 95% furnace and 14 SEER AC which calculates out to 15 SEER with the oversized coil. The forced humidifier and pedistal plenum help bring up the humidity and air flow and the variable speed fan is awsome. Will have to write back next spring to tell if we oversized or undersized the AC -- likely more than sufficient, but not so much that we don't get the rebate, I hope.

Very happy with Steve (owner) and his crew. Steve came out and did a thorough estimate and review of offerings. Also, prepared for the Xcel rebates and had them preapproved prior to the install. We ended up needing a new water heater and he was able to handle that with less than a days notice. Installation conditions were less than diserable due to our old water heater flooding the basement but the install crew made the best of it and were great about communcating with us. Had to tweak charges a bit the next day due to the humidity in the house from the flood but everything is running great. We got several other bids on the AC unit and install and Front Range was by far the most of affordable and we got the better product with them. Plus the crew was very nice to work with from start to finish. They also provided coupon discounts based on promotion they were advertising elsewhere. I wasn't fully aware of the promotion and appreciated the discount. Will use them again and refer to friends.
Description of Work: We had new AC unit installed, heater coil upgraded, humidifier installed and new hot water heater with water shutoff installed in one day.

As stated above the overall experiance was top of the line. The only aspect of the entire instalation I ended up changing after the fact is the furnace filter. Because of my wife's allergies and increased dust etc.in the air I have installed a high efficiency furnace filter to be monitored by a guage placed between the filter and furnace squirrel cage. As indicated by the guage I will change the filter as required. I originally accepted three separate company bids for the work which was ultimately accomplished on 10/13/2011. Besides being well below the other two bids cost wise Steve walked me through everything thoroughly. I ended up feeling very confident in his company's ability to perform. I would recommend Front Range Mechanical for HVAC services to anyone without reservation.
Description of Work: 10/13/2011: Replaced my home furnace with a high efficiancy furnace and a high efficiancy A/C unit. My home previously had no A/C. The material and labor were as initially proposed by Steve Korff my original contact with Front Range Mechanical. A natural gas line and electrical line were run to the kitchen to accomodate a new gas range purchased elsewhere. The work was completed in one day as promised by Steve. The work crew was punctual, professional and worked well together. I was well pleased with the final product. 11/29/2011: Replaced home water heater with a high efficiancy water heater and installed a humidifier to the newly installed furnace. This second round of work by his crew was the result of afterthought on my part to completely renew my home HVAC system. Again as above everything went smoothly, the work was completed in less than a day and I am happy with the final product.

We had Front Range come out to give us an estimate for adding central air to our home. The owner did the quote and spent two hours explaining in great detail how everything would work. He seemed to have tons of experience and knowledge, so we elected to go with Front Range over the other companies we got estimates from. Long story short, it turns out that our old furnace was just not powerful enough to run central air, which is something I felt Front Range should have been more upfront about. The furnace was ruined during the process and would no longer work. It would work for a few days and then stop working, and technicians were coming out day after day to try to fix it. Finally, I demanded that Front Range either replace my furnace for half cost or give me a refund so I could buy a new furnace from someone else. At that point, I didn't care about AC anymore, I just needed my furnace to work reliably come winter. They replaced the furnace and now things work fine. I feel like they took a chance on whether the furnace would run AC and I wish they had just been more upfront that it likely wouldn't work. I wound up having to pay more than I wanted to because I had to buy a new furnace. It was an unpleasant experience.
Description of Work: Added central AC to existing furnace, and then replaced furnace when AC wouldn't work with old furnace.

Response from Front Range Mechanical Services
Our company provided a professional installation as promised of their air conditioner. We had suggested to the homeowner to consider purchasing a new furnace to improve the air flow of the new air conditioner at our estimate. They were on a limited budget and wanted only to add air conditioning. We had no reason to believe that the motor was as weak as it was. When it struggled, the homeowner was frustrated with the combination of issues from their old furnace. We worked with them and provided a new furnace at cost to help them. We had not provided any prior service to their furnace and had no knowledge beyond what they represented as a working furnace. It was not our intent to cause them any frustration, just provide a comfortable house working within their budget.

This company charged me $275 to come out and look at my furnace, this was a ridiculous charge for no work being done. I will never use this company again. I had someone else replace the starter for $75 that this company said needed to be replaced. Even after that part being replaced the furnace was still not working right. I cleaned the rods and it's working great now.
Description of Work: We called them when our regular heating and a/c man had some personal issues and couldn't come to our aid. This company came out to give me an estimate on fixing my furnace.

The customer was given a quote for $275 which included the trip, diagnostic, and repair part for the furnace. He did not pay that amount, because he did not have us repair the furnace. He was charged for the trip and our diagnostic fee only. He had a friend purchase the part at wholesale and install it for him. His problem is a value perception having a friend install it at cost with the expertise to repair it regardless of voiding a factory warranty and giving no credence to our trained staff or response.

EVERYTHING WENT WELL AND THEY DID A GOOD JOB. THE ONLY PROBLEM WAS THAT THE ELECTRICIAN WAS BEHIND SCHEDULE A DAY OR 2 AND SO THE SYSTEM WASN'T UP AND RUNNING IMMEDIATELY.
Description of Work: WE HAD A 14 SEER / 3 TON AIR CONDITIONER ADDED TO OUR HOUSE. THEY ALSO ATTACHED A HUMIDIFIER AND CHANGED OUT THE THERMOSTAT.
