Don's Garage Doors

It was awesome! They're great. I had used them before and I was really pleased with their service then. I'm just very happy with everything.

We contacted Don's Garage Door on 2/27 and asked them to coordinate timing for a repair of the garage door with our tenant. Since we would not be on site, they asked for our credit card in advance (which is fine with me). They contacted our tenant and showed up at the townhouse on 2/28. They repaired the bracket and adjusted the opener. They also helped our tenant learn how to reprogram a keypad on the garage door (with our permission). Their tech called me on 2/28 while at the location to explain what he had done and the likely cause of the issue. He said with our recent unusually cold and freezing weather the door literally froze to the ground. Given past experience at the townhouse with drainage from a gutter near the outside of the garage door, this was a plausible explanation. The tech said the opener should have shut down with the heavier resistance from the stuck door but did not. It had pulled the bolts out of the bracket. He suggested a stronger style bracket and explained the costs which were very reasonable ($15 more for the special bracket -- it spreads the force of the garage door opener across more of door's surface). They charged $85 for the service call plus the cost of the bracket and tax. I should note they had previously repaired a broken bracket on another garage door at another of our rental townhouses in the same complex. In that case, the cause appeared to be metal fatigue since that was during warmer weather. In any case, this is probably the third or fourth time we have called Don's Garage Door at various rental units or our own home. Their service has been excellent each time. Their prices have been reasonable too which we appreciate.

I had used Don's before a few months ago to repair an existing opener and it went so well that I did not hesitate to use Don's for installation of a new opener system in my new home. I called on a very cold, snowy morning expecting to set an appointment in a couple of days. Oh no - not Don's! They came out the same day, about 4 hours after my call! I was able to get everything done through them, which I totally appreciated due to the fact that I had run out of time off from work. I appreciated the advice they gave on getting a quieter chain/belt because there are bedrooms above the garage. The price quote came in spot on - no unexpected charges. The opener was installed in a short amount of time and works beautifully and quietly. I will always use Don's!

Overall excellent service. Not only arrived on time, but scheduled to come even earlier. Answered all my questions. Recommended upgraded rollers, but explained it would be quieter but not required to prolong the life and working order of the garage door itself. Very knowledgeable and efficient. Did some maintenance on the roller tracks and reviewed access to garage if power goes out. I would definitely call again if I have questions or issues. Great job!

They arrived promptly during the time that they said they would be here. The called before coming out. Fixed broken door and did tune up on other doors.

These guys were great. They provided a thorough and accurate estimate. Don came out and made sure every risk was thought through because this was an old door that had glass panels and I wanted to save the door itself after a spring broke. They showed up when they said they would (even though the temps were near zero) and did the work in the amount of time they said they would, for the price quoted. On top of that they were friendly and easy to work with. I would definitely call them back if needed and would recommend them.

It went exceptionally well. They called in advanced. They fixed other problems. They did the job very professionally. The whole process was wonderful.

John explained choices of products and answered all questions. Product was available at set date and was installed in stated amount of time. John was professional and a very hard worker.

Don did a great job and the door is much quieter with the roller replacement. Would definitely use again.

The serviceman came to house on time and completed the work in short order. He recommended two panels be replaced sometime in the future and arranged to get us a cost estimate. Very good service!

Don's is wonderful! We've used them before. Always timely with great communication! Don's people are very honest about the situation. Our garage door is old, but we'd prefer to not do a replacement at this time. The tech said, the problems so far weren't a big deal, but we should be aware that the doors age will work against it in the future. They recommended the fix to keep the cost down, no pressure to get a new door. When it is time, we will definitely go to Don's for that new door.

Extremely well! When I called Don's, I was told a serviceman was in the area and he would probably be here within the hour. He arrived at my front door in 10 or 15 minutes!! The young man who did the repair was extremely knowledgeable and very efficient in diagnosing and fixing the problem. He also did a very good job explaining/pointing out what the problems were with the unit. Not only did he repair the door opener but tuned up the garage door so that it would work more efficiently. Am very pleased with the service and happy to have the garage door opener operational again.

The coiled spring on our two-stall wide garage door broke so I searched Angie's list and found a company in the area, Don's Garage Door, who was running a special of $160 to replace the spring. When they arrived to the site they said there were two coils and only one was broken. They said both coils should be replaced, and that it would cost another $67.60 to replace the second coil. I feel like their special price for replacing the garage door coiled spring for $160 is a little bit of a bait and switch tactic. I would guess that that vast majority of garage doors are for two cars and for those two-car wide doors, there will be two springs. I also believe it is normal for only one of those springs to break. Since the company knows it is standard procedure to replace both springs when one breaks, then I think Don's Garage Door should make it clear in their description of their special price that the price is for only one spring, but for a double-wide door there would be an additional charge to replace the second spring. By not doing so, they make it appear that their price will take care of a broken spring problem. I would much rather pay additional money to a company that is honest, transparent, and up-front with this sort of thing than a company who does not share their knowledge of what is typical for the industry and instead lists a price that seems very attractive while knowing that in most cases, there will be an added charge to do a proper job. I have no complaints with the quality of the actual work, only their marketing practices.

He did a good job and I would use him again.

We have a large garage door that was designed for an RV and large boat. When the door is open, it hugs the ceiling and therefore cannot utilize a standard garage door opener. Don suggested a side mounted opener which was just the thing except there was little room for it. Don called upon his vast knowledge and experience and came up with a very workable solution and then he and his assistant very professionally installed the system. The door now opens and closes very quietly and smoothly. I'm glad we chose Don's Garage Door because they know how to solve problems and make things work. I will definitely use them again for any garage door issues.

Seth was awesome, not only did he take the time to show me the repairs, but he walked my through maintenance I could do myself to make my door, springs, pullies, and rollers last longer!!

It was great! Jon was our tech and he was very professional, courteous, and fast. We were afraid we'd need a new door or system because of how old it was, but Jon repaired everything great. No upsell, but explained what was going on for us. I would definitely recommend them to a friend.

Everything wen t smoothly after the first repairman got a second repairman to help him lift the heavy garage door. They were polite and professional. They got the work done in a timely manner.
