Description of Work: We had 3 egress windows installed - 2 replaced windows and 1 was a brand new hole!

Description of Work: First and foremost, we only received an estimate of what Brighter Basements charges to install an egress window. Business owner was prompt in returning my initial phone call to schedule an estimate. He was thorough with his line of questioning, I am guessing to be as prepared as possible when performing the actual estimate. The first "bad feeling" I had is when he got out of his luxury truck wearing designer clothing and excessive jewelry. He did not look the part of an egress window installer. Written bid is very vague, especially part regarding warranty work. He advertises a 10-year warranty on everything, but truly it is only if you purchase a turn and tilt window, and a concrete well liner. Business owner claims he has two patents on the installation process of an egress window. His patent consists of running a heavy piece of machinery with a giant over-sized auger bit on the end of it to dig-out the well for the egress window. He repeatedly brought these patents up as if that would close the deal right then and there. My guess is, it is the only way he can differentiate his services from other contractors, and frankly, that deterred me more than anything from wanting to use him. His base price was well below the competition, but by the time you add back what he charges for the well linings, security coverings, etc, he is priced as high as the four other contractors that we used. Additionally, he does not perform the interior finish work on the window. Meaning, it is up to the homeowner to complete the molding and sealing of the window on the inside of the house. In my opinion, this gives Brighter Basements an excuse not to honor warranty work. Finally, he kept pushing me for other contractors we were talking to. I am not one to divulge that information as I want to form my own opinions about people and not go off the potential disparaging comments one contractor says about another. As he kept pushing me I played dumb and said I could not remember he would had been in contact with and then he ran through a list of five or six contractors we did not know about. Ultimately we chose one off of the list of contractors he provided me. He essentially lost the work by talking too much. He seemed like a nice guy, I am guess he is harmless. Showing up in Italian Leather shoes, designer clothing, and luxury vehicle was not appealing to me. My guess is his product is the best, but the product isn't worth a darn if the service and attention to detail is not there, and in my opinion, it wasn't.
