Problem was on a weekend with no heat. Being this was spring, I wasn't too worried but then my three year old got sick and I figured, better get the unit fixed. Called Braconier and had the charges explained to me. Be aware that if it's not Monday-Friday, not only do you pay OT but you pay the drive time, which I am not fond of, as you cannot control where the on-call tech is on the weekend. In my case, he was 30 minutes away, so before a diagnosis is made, I'm over $100 out already but it was an emergency and I was in no place to negotiate. Had Don service the unit. He explained what was wrong with the furnace and since it was old, some things to look for in the future. Also, showed me how to maintain the unit a bit better. I had questions about replacing the furnace, since it is 30 years old and he explained some things I should look into when researching furnaces and what to look out for in the bidding process. He never said his company was the best or tried to push anything upon me, just educated me. That education, I am grateful for. The furnace was fixed and Don was more than helpful.

I have learned that many companies have gone to charging flat rates instead of time and materials. My previous company, though reputable, wouldn't even credit me the 'trip' charge part of the fee for 2 of my 3 furnaces, so I often chose to have no furnace checks done, or chose to have them check 1 or 2 of my furnaces instead of all 3. After getting telephone estimates from numerous companies, I chose Braconier because I decided that, in most cases, paying for time and materials is a much better way to go. Even though Wayne and I spent some time chatting because I asked questions about related items, the bill came to less than it would been from my previous company. If I had chosen to ask no questions, it would have even been less. My only furnace related problem has been a blower that seemed to blow most of the time. Wayne turned a switch down inside the furnace to solve the problem. Someone less reputable could have sold me a new switch.

I had received a quote from another heating company of $830 for a new intake fan. Braconier first took out the "broken" fan and oiled it so it was working again so I'd have heat until I could have the fan replaced. I was quoted a price of $198 for the new fan and even given the option of just keeping the old fan, as it ws now working well. I had it replaced anyway. The total for the 2 service calls was $382.60. I felt Braconier's service rep was very honest and reliable. Braconier was listed on Tom Martino's Trouble Shoter list, which is always a good recommendation.

WE WERE PLEASED WITH THE PROMPTNESS AND PROFESSIONALISM DEMONSTRATED BY BRACONIER. THE WORK REQUIRED A FEW NEW PARTS WHICH WERE NOT EXORBITANT IN PRICE.
