Replaced the kitchen faucet with the new one i had bought and ready. Could not replace the new soap dispenser.
Description of Work: The plumber took 2 hours and 50 minutes overall to replace a standard kitchen faucet with the new one i had ready (bought from Home Depot). He took phone calls outside for over 20minutes and then came back and said he is missing some parts (hose extensions) that he needs to go buy and took over 45 minutes to go buy the parts from hardware store. In the invoice the parts were marked-up substantially and he wont share the original invoice copy for the parts with me either. On top of this i was charged for the whole time he wasted. Charged me a total of $193.28 ($243.28 minus the $50 voucher i purchased) just to replace a kitchen faucet.?The plumber said 'it is what it is' and cannot do anything to address my concern.?When i called their office they also said pretty much the same, in a very unprofessional manner of communication.

In July, I found Bill Smith Plumbing via Angies List and emailed them to come out and bid the job to repipe our house from old polybutylene to copper because we had several burst pipes. I very quickly received a response from Roy and he sent an estimator out within a few days. We decided to move forward with the job and a short while later they sent out a two man team to replace all our pipes. The job went mostly well although we had an issue that I noticed about 10pm a few days after the job was completed. I called, got their answering service, received a call back first thing the next morning from both Brian and Roy and they sent out Dan the same day to remedy the problem. Roy, Brian and Dan were very professional, responsive and easy to deal with and they made it right. Earlier last month, we needed a new tub installed in our bathroom, so again I emailed and received an almost immediate response. Dan and his helper Sufein came out and installed our 300+ pound cast iron tub, that thing was a beast AND needed to be carried up a flight of stairs. They were both great and spent extra time checking to ensure there were no leaks. In total we spent about $5500 between the two jobs and are very happy with results. I would absolutely recommend this company without reservation as overall, we had a very positive experience.

So pleased with the service from Bill Smith Plumbing. We used them twice, both times with the same plumber. The plumber was great, and I loved their customer service approach: the call center is helpful; they call when the plumber is en route to let me know who to expect and when; and payment is easy.

I had water shut off, water pressure released, door off cabinets, and the area open and accessable for the plumber. 15 minutes to perform replacement. $60.00 LABOR $20.00 PART $60.00 TRIP FEE TAXES. Only surprise was the $60.00 Trip Fee which was not mentioned by either Angie's list or the Plumber. I have used plumbers who do not charge a trip fee if the work is done at the time of the visit to the house. Shame on me, the plumber and Angie list for not warning subscribers about this cost up front. Usually I watch for these types of hidden costs but was lax in my thought process when purchasing their service.

sewer cleaning

This is the second time we have used Bill Smith Plumbing; last November at a different residence and this September at a house we were trying to sell. We needed them to clean out the sewer line. The same thing happened this time as it did in November 2014. They sent out very nice young gentlemen, that appear experienced in sewer line cleaning, BUT the equipment they are asked to use is inadequate. Both times there was not enough clean-out cable on the machines they brought to the jobs. This last time they spent nearly 3 hours trying to clean the sewer line with the first larger machine that had only 100' of cable in it. The problem: the sewer line to city sewer tap is 107' -- they returned with a smaller machine with an 80' cable spool, ran it to its' end, then attached another 80' spool and supposedly went out to 120 ft. We did not pay the technicians when they were done, as we doubted it was complete, and thought the charges were a bit much to pay for their bringing inadequate equipment to do the job. After they left, we had it scoped again, and it was not cleaned out! We had to call another plumbing company who had the correct cable length on their machine, and in about 1 hour it was done. Again, we had to have it scoped to prove to the buyer of our house that the sewer was in fact cleaned out. As it turned out we discovered the sewer tap was offset with the main line, and it had to be replaced. We could only tell that after a complete sewer line cleaning. Now, having written about the bad part of our experience with Bill Smith Plumbing, we need to say that once they knew there was a problem, both in November of 2014 and this year in September, they stepped up to the plate and took responsibility for the issue. In November they sent out another technician, at no charge to us, to clean out our sewer line all the way to the street/sewer tap. And after this latest incomplete job this September, and having to hire another company to complete it, Brian from Bill Smith Plumbing called us to offer a discount on the $270 Invoice. He did not know that his guys did not complete the sewer line clean out nor that we had to pay another company to finish the job. Once he knew that, he was even more apologetic for the problems we had. He said he would take care of the Invoice once he received a copy of the other Company's invoice. We sent him a scan of the other company's invoice for the sewer clean out. To date we have not heard from Bill Smith Plumbing. Bill Smith Plumbing may be a very good plumbing company, but not at cleaning out sewer lines (our experiences). We would recommend hiring sewer line cleaning companies -- that is all they do -- and not a plumbing company that try's to do everything for its' customers. In this case it does not seem to work well.

He solved the problem from my refrigerator valve. He did a nice job, and was only there for twenty minutes, but the price was much higher than I thought it would be for what he did. There was damage to the walls and things were moved in the basement that weren’t moved back. They will not get my business again.

Overall I am not very impressed with the service that I received. Both of the technicians did arrive timely and I have no complaints for the first ½ hour of service when they were trying to troubleshoot by bathroom fan(other than when they tried to get into my attic they stepped on my trim and it ripped). They hammered the trim back into place but it will likely need to be re-painted. I viewed that as a minor issue. My main concern came with the main reason for my service, the poor air flow to two of my rooms. Even though I talked about the temperature of the ac being okay and it being an airflow issue the technicians went to the AC outside and spent time testing the AC charge and the temp of the air coming into the house. I explained that the airflow issue happens during the summer or with the furnace in the winter so it was not possible for the AC temp to be the issue. After that we did try and troubleshoot the issue though sadly with little success. For me, not solving the issue has nothing to do with my rating. What made me question how the technicians approached my issue is something I realized after they left. When they finished and were invoicing me I was wondering why it took them so long to write the invoice(10 to 15 min) until I saw the invoice. *They billed me for the time it took them to bill me.*The fact that they did this called into question all the time they spent on things that were not related to my issue. Time spent: ½ hour on bathroom fan ½ hour investigating my AC and the temps that come out of it ¼ hour looking at the airflow issue ¼ hour writing my bill +$60 service charge The one upside is they did not charge me for the ¼ hour that the technician spent looking for his cell phone that he dropped in my attic.

During the first visit (Friday afternoon), the wax ring was replaced and it appeared to fix the problem. When it didn't, the company sent another plumber out (on Saturday) and he resolved the issue. Although it would have been ideal for the issue to have been completely resolved in one visit, the second issue that was fixed wasn't apparent at the time the first plumbers left. All of the plumbers were very professional and pleasant. I will definitely use this company again and I'll use a plumber (versus a handyman) to replace toilets in the future.

Dampness appeared on wall in room beneath bathroom. Plumber was called, and made initial diagnosis of need for new seal on the toilet. He reset the toilet and left. Several days later we discovered that the dampness persisted. Called the company, which sent a more experienced man to examine the situation. This man found deterioration in a segment of the pipe below the the bathroom floor, and a new and more experienced crew came and cutting through the ceiling in the room below, as well as the wall to an adjoining room, they replaced the deteriorated pipe section. They deducted the charge for the earlier toilet reseal from the final bill. The behavior of all personnel was professional and competent.

We had them also come for our boiler. Bill was so nice and did a great job. The two guys who came to look at our broken pipe were also very nice. Gave this place an A. Then got the bill for service fee of $60.00 plus an hourly rate of $60. Never heard of an hourly rate for an estimate. Never was told about this. Contacted 3 other services and none charged hourly rate. Told all this to Bill Smith. They couldn't care less. Won't ever use this service. Too bad - thought we found a good "go-to". If you use this service, please bear in mind the service fee will actually be a minimum of $120 without any work being done. They will also not inform you of this via telephone. They will say it is $60.

Since this project was in a tight area and right next to the insulation, I thought I would call a professional. I was very happy with the valve they installed, but it was the workmanship I had a problem with. When it came time to sweat the joint together, the plumber just ripped the insulation to shreds and started with the torch. This was after I told him my father and brother were Union Electricians. I am a novice do it yourself, but before I sweated the joint, I would have cut the insulation so I could have taped it back together or reattached it. So, quality of material = A, quality of workmanship = F. Do not use them on anything that may be seen because pride of workmanship is not there.

These folks are awesome! They came out when they said they would be at our house, and sized up our drain issue based on what we said was backing up, and their extensive experience in such matters. They snaked the 2and quot; utility drain first, but that did not take care of the problem, so they brought in the larger machine to snake the main sewer line. They went out 80 feet, and it seemed to take care of the problem. We did not have anymore back ups during Thanksgiving. We called a fellow that Bill Smith Plumbing recommended to us to have our main sewer line scoped for peace of mind and to discover any future potential problems. The fellow showed up 1/2 hour after we called and scoped our main sewer line and left us a DVD recording of its entire length, which is 100 ft. We discovered during the scoping procedure that cleaning the main sewer line out to 80 feet was not far enough; tree roots had formed in the sewer clay pipe joints just at 80 feet and beyond, and needed to be taken out. We called Bill Smith Plumbing, told them what the problem was and they sent their tech. out early in the afternoon to run the snake an additional 20 feet or more to remove all of the roots. They did just that, and there was no charge for doing so. These folks are well worth the cost (competitive cost) because they don't fool around and they step up to the plate and make things right! I will definitely use them again, and will spread the word to family and friends. Thanks to Roy, Brian, and Matt!

Roy told me upfront what the service and hourly charges would be. He couldn't come immediately, but promised to be here in a hour or so. I told him we have hot water heat and since the water line to the house was turned off, we had the prospect of no heat (in single digit temperatures) until we could get the water back on. Roy arrived about an hour later, and immediately went to work finding the ruptured lines in the garage. He went right to work capping the lines in the basement which led to the garage and the bathroom out there. He didn't waste a moment. Roy was personable, professional, and very competent. He did not try to upsell me in any way, but did advise about some other plumbing problems he saw, which he pointed out (this is a 50 year old house), but did not dramatize or try to scare me into dealing with right them now. I've had other plumbers who did do the negative things I mention, so I was impressed with his attitude. I have a leaky boiler, which I knew about. I intend to call Roy to have all the plumbing work I need to have done and I would definitely recommend him to a friend.I have to say that this is my first experience with Angie's list. My mother is visiting us and insisted that we not pick a plumber blindly. Thanks Mom for the membership in Angie's list!

Outstanding service. I used Angies List for the $25 coupon for $50 of service from Bill Smith Plumbing. I obtained the coupon online on the evening of 11/3/14 and was prepared to call them at 8am the following morning when they opened. They called me at 7:30 that same morning and said they could be there at 8am. They arrived at 8, quickly diagnosed the problem and cleared the clog from an access in the basement. Very professional service, highly recommend them for any plumbing/heating issue. I've used them in the past, they've always done outstanding work at a reasonable price.

The work was coordinated and done professionally, and as the customer I was treated very well. The workmanship was top quality -- time spent was as needed -- work area cleaned-up. I was very satisfied with the work, although I was initially surprised by a trip charge of $60.00 to arrive at my home to do the work. The provider was located about 24 miles from my home, however, and that was probably the reason for trip charge.
