Smooth from start-to-finish. Easy to schedule even though our repairs weren't urgent. Plumber arrived within the time window promised -- a huge plus -- diagnosed the issues quickly and got right to work. I'd definitely call them again.
Description of Work: Repaired four toilets, including replacing two fill valves, 3 stops and 4 supply lines. Not sure I got the lingo right, but he basically replaced the aging bits and pieces on our 15-year-old commodes.

I called them yesterday to tell them it was leaking and probably needed replaced. They told me that they were busy and couldn't get to me for a week. I asked how I could stop my water heater from leaking. They told me to just turn the water off for a week.
Description of Work: Yesterday my water heater was leaking. Bill Smith had put it in almost 30 years ago. We have been using them for 30 years.

They came out early for job. There were two men. One worked upstairs and one downstairs. They checked everything thoroughly. The shower head was older and had no control valve for the flow of water. This made it so the water was splashing over the edge of the tub and onto the faucets. They changed the shower head so it had this control valve in it. They also replaced the neck on the shower head, so it did not point straight down. They caulked around the faucets. I then got splash guards, and they silicone caulked these so the water would not splash out as much. They were there about an hour and a half. They did a great job. Both men seemed quite knowledgeable and patient. They were also very professional. I will definitely use them again in the future and have already recommended them to others.

Our toilet was clogged and we were forced to turn off the water, to keep it from over-flowing onto the bathroom floor. The company responded immediately to my phone call and a repairman arrived within two hours. There was no additional cost for same-day service. The job was scheduled to take 30 minutes to complete but the toilet only took 10 minutes to unclog. The workman then asked if I had other plumbing repairs for him to make (at no extra cost), since he had time left on the job. He was prompt, courteous and professional.

They arrived ahead of schedule, when a previous job finished early. I got a call to meet Dan at my house an hour-and-a-half ahead of schedule! After a quick analysis of the problem, he explained thoroughly what was needed and why. I've done some minor plumbing repair work, and what he told me (and what ended up being billed) seemed entirely reasonable. He did the work quickly and professionally.

The toilet was rocking, we didn't know the extent of the repair needed. We contacted Bill Smith plumbing and the gentleman who answered the phone was excellent in helping us identify and define the problem accurately. On the day of service (we requested it out a week, but they were able to come much sooner), the plumber arrived at 8:05 (they estimated between 8 and 10 so you can imagine our delight!) and got right down to work. Turns out it was a relatively minor repair and every time we use this bathroom, I am reminded of their excellent work. He replaced the seal around the toilet with a new, better materials and it looks fabulous! Most importantly, it works and we didn't pay an arm and a leg for it. Highly professional and knowledgeable, prompt and clean. Only one minor glitch - a small leak after he left. We called back and he returned right away and fixed. A small issue which was prompt resolved - thank goodness we were home on vacation that day. Would not have been so convenient for follow up repair otherwise. However, this did not overshadow our appreciation for a solid job with a reasonable price tag.

Scott was a fast professional expert, completing the work in about 30 minutes. I was very, very satisfied with the work and the cost. He even gave me the name of someone who does bathroom floors for future reference. I would use them again and recommend to all. Also, the person I spoke to on the phone to make the appointment was clearly another person with expert knowledge and experience -- not a receptionist or scheduler. This was very reassuring to me that I had contacted the right company.
Description of Work: Scott identified the toilet leak as a broken seal between the floor and the toilet. He removed the toilet and replaced the seal with a much better one - wax seal with an extra "gasket" or something to make it stronger.

We had a very unusual faucet/spout/handheld shower fixture in one of our bathrooms, and it had become unusable due to a broken part. We researched and researched and tried to find replacement parts ourselves, but to no avail. Finally, we looked on Angie's List and chose Bill Smith Plumbing to come out and look at it. They sent two guys (impressive in and of itself) who were very friendly and efficient. They took the fixture with them and said they'd call back and let us know what they could find. They called back in a little over a day and told us that although the manufacturer was no longer making that type of fixture, they had managed to find one! We set a date for them to come back out, and they were right on time, and just as friendly and efficient as they had been the first time. For the service we got, we felt like $316 was very reasonable.

Please see above - I didn't end up using them.
Description of Work: I called Bill Smith Plumbing because when the upstairs shower is used, water drips through the kitchen ceiling light fixture. I've had one plumber out already, as I explained to Brian, who answered the phone. Brian was very rude and I'm just not sure why. I had high hopes that I found a plumber because of all the positive feedback on Angie's List that this company received. Even though Brian was rude, I tried to set up an appointment, asking if they could come the next day (Saturday), and Brian acted like I was crazy. I pointed out it was fine with me that they come on Monday, and I only asked for Saturday because someone on Angie's List reported they came on a Sunday to her house. Brian then told me (rudely again!) that he doesn't have anything to do with Angie's List. I told him that was fine, Monday would be fine with me, and then he informed me they won't come s far north as Park Hill. So, I ended up not even trying this company, which is probably a good thing.

Description of Work: Responded immediately. Spent several hours trying to clean line. Referred us to another company to dig up line. That company responded immediately, charged $2000 and corrected a serious problem. Bill Smith Plumbing refused to charge more than initial estimate.

They were GREAT! Two guys came out, so all three jobs were done very quickly, which is why the cost was so reasonable. They also gave me advice on my main line and advice about my water heater that I'd never heard before, but made sense for the long term. I found them to be amiable, honest, and efficient. I will definitely use them again!

Very responsive, fast service. Luther came out and repaired our existing outdoor faucet that has been a source of great frustration to us as it is very difficult to access since we had deck built several years ago. There was nothing he could do to make the current faucet more accessible but he suggested placing a new faucet accessing our kitchen plumbing which faces the backyard. What a wonderful and inexpensive solution. Thanks!! Highly recommend.

With my experiences on the telephone, they were professional and communicated well. One mishap was soldered pieces fell into the system causing it not to shut off. Upon contacting the company, they were willing to come back out to examine the situation and check their work. They stated this was not their fault and took no responsibility in making it right. I went ahead and completed the repair to bring it back to working condition. The initial job took one hour. However, they charged me travel time, which was 1 hour. They got stuck in traffic and still charged me the full amount of travel time.
Description of Work: My sprinkler system was not working properly as a valve was broken. This company replaced the sprinkler system valve and repaired it by soldering the pieces together.

The relief valve on the water heater blew on Saturday night. The plumber came the next morning (Sunday) and replaced the valve. While he was here, he noted that we did not have a pressure reducing valve on the main water line coming into the house so he measured the pressure. It was too high (96 PSI), so he set us up to get a pressure reducing valve installed during normal working hours. That work was completed on the following Tuesday. Both plumbers were very professional, efficient, and friendly. They were very good at explaining what they were doing.

So far, the smells seemed to have gone, or substantially dissipated. I am very, very pleased.
Description of Work: The plumber they sent was Gary. I have an old Victorian with occasional bursts of sewer gasses coming from the kitchen bath areas on basement, first and second levels. He isolated the smells to two incorrectly seated toilets. He pulled both and found that the the old flanges had gapped from the toilet bases. In any case, I had six different plumbers look at this problem, and nobody could ID the problem except to say that they would either have to tear out walls of fill the entire vent system with water -- which would have cost thousands and have probably made a huge water mess in the basement at the base of the soil stack.

Rick, the plumber who visited my house, was on time and honest in his assessment of our particular sump pump situation. He repeated numerous times that he felt that our sump pit didn't look out of character (dirty) and that replacing the sump pump would be easy for my husband to do (for free). In other words, he wanted me to know that we didn't need to go to the expense of a plumber, which I appreciated. However, in our particular situation, we had a structural engineer give us advice about our sump pit/pump when we bought the house (one month ago). After Rick came out, I had the good fortune of having a foundation specialist assess my pit. He took measurements and said that, in fact, our pit is too shallow and requires cleaning and a specific set up, so that water doesn't back up under our foundation. If the specific set up doesn't work, then we will ultimately have to have the pit re-dug, which could cost $4K-$6K.
Description of Work: I needed an estimate on having our sump pump replaced and our pit cleaned out.
