The individual I talked to at their office was helpful and responsive to my questions on approximate cost (labor and materials). I made an appointment for the this weekend as it was first able that would work for the time slots they had open (hours of 8am - 9am). This is the time I routinely take my dog to the dogpark and my dog is use to our schedule on the weekends. Come the time of the appointment, no had shown up and I contacted the technician at 9:45am. He didn't seem to be aware of who I was and the appointment I scheduled. He informed me he was running late and it would be another 30min. I am expressed my displeasure that no attempt was even made to contact me that he was running late. I understand that service professionals run into issues on other appointments that can mess up their schedule. I was more disappointed on the fact no attempt was made by the technician as a matter of professionalism to contact me. Also, in my opinion, his attitude on the phone seem to this slight did not really matter to him. I canceled the appointment.

I ran a load and it completed with the same Error Warning. This time I was able to reset. Serviceman told me to call if I had a problem. Not doing that since when he left he told me I would need a new electrical panel. The machine diagnosed itself as a Broken Clutch. I imagine a new electrical panel is far more expensive than a clutch. Not gambling more money on a "maybe". I should have read pages 2-3-4 of reviews. My fault, I wasn't careful in my research of the company.

The technician determined that our dishwasher was fixable. The soap dispenser was no longer opening its door at the appropriate point in the cycle. However, after he quoted the price for the part and we turned pale, he suggested that we could simply watch the cycle clock ourselves and throw in a dishwasher soap pouch at the appropriate moment. While that isn't as convenient as a soap dispenser that works, the price was right, especially considering that the dishwasher has some years on it and hopefully will be replaced in the next year or two. We were happy with his suggestion and that he did not attempt to "sell" us on a repair that really wasn't worth it.

They responded promptly and Bruce did a fine job. The bill was basically $30 for the new switch and $100 labor to install it. For no more work than was required, I think $100 is an outrageous labor charge. HOWEVER, I think appliance repair labor costs are getting to be more like the prices charged by plumbers and electricians. So I don't think the charge was terribly out of line, but neither was it anything special ? therefore I just gave them an average ?C? rating.

I called Bear Valley at the recommendation of another provider who doesn't do appliance repair. All of my contact with the main office was very professional and we scheduled a person to come out the next day but he explained that the person wouldn't be able to diagnose the problem if the freezer wasn't making the noise that caused us alarm. I kind of get this, but felt like a repairman should at least check a few things. The next day Ralph called a few minutes before he arrived and of course, the freezer wasn't making the noise and we had no way to estimate when it would or what might be causing it so he said he'd come back the next day. Again, he called before he arrived and I had been able to estimate how and when the freezer made the noise. He did a couple checks and said that it was the ice maker since the noise only happened when the ice maker was on. We decided to wait for the repair and called a few weeks later to have them come out again. Again, we got Ralph who didn't remember coming out or hearing the noise so he had to hear it again. I honestly can't remember if it made the noise again but I did tell him where the noise seemed to be coming from - and it wasn't the ice maker. None-the-less I agreed to have the ice maker replaced since I assumed he knew what he was doing. He said he'd check back in a few weeks later to make sure the problem was taken care of. He never called and literally the same day we had the work done the problem was back. We ended up taking the back off the freezer and found that there was ice accumulated near the cooling fan. Why couldn't Ralph have checked that?? It amazes me that all he did was basically listen and say "this is it". We now have an extra ice maker. On a side note, I also asked him to check our washing machine since it seemed to be flooding our basement. He did some checks and said the transmission was going out and that the speed was causing the tub to overflow. Instead of having repairs done we decided to install a new washer. After we had the new washer installed we had floods again. Obviously our washing machine wasn't broken. It turned out to be a drain issue, but the hassle of switching machines due to a "diagnosed" problem was enough to make us never want to have this company come out again.

Went well. Brian showed up on time as scheduled. He worked efficiently, quietly, neatly. The cost was half labor and half parts. He installed the new water filter we had on hand, too, while he was replacing the bad valve. I have used Bear Valley Appliance in the past. On more than one occasion, we have called them, described the washer or dryer problem over the phone, they made a DIY recommended fix, we bought the necessary parts, followed their instructions and problem solved. It is nice to be able to speak to someone who has knowledge of appliance repair, part ordering, prices, etc and not just someone who all they can do is to schedule an appointment and wish you luck.

I called BV Appliance and explained I needed the heating element changed. I also explained I had another company scheduled to do the work and they were late both days and were unable to complete the work. I was assured this would not be the case with BV Appliance. They told me a tech would call later to schedule a time for today. Bruce called within an hour and was very nice and assured me he would be here between 12-2 today and would call 15 mins before he headed over to my house. I explained that I had another company show up late and not perform the work and he again assured me that would not be the case with him - he would absolutely call if he was running late and he would call 15 min out to let me know he was on his way. At 2:15, I called Bruce and had to leave a message. He called back and I asked him when he would be here. He said he got tied up on a washing machine job that was bigger than he thought it would be. He said he could be here in a half an hour. I told him this was the very thing he assured me would not happen. I expressed to him I was angry that he hadn't called to let me know he was tied up - I could have done the errands I was waiting to do had he just called me. He asked if tomorrow would be better. No. I was leaving town and I needed to get this done and that I had wasted 4 days on getting it done. He said "how can I make this up to you?" We decided he would come over in 1/2 an hour. He rang the doorbell about 20 mins later. I have a rather large and loud dog who met Bruce at the door with me. I asked if he was "Bruce" and he pointed his finger at me and said "PUT YOUR DOG UP." I told him, she's really sweet and she'd be fine, she just sounded fierce. Again, he point his finger at me and ordered "I don't care, put your dog up. Put your dog up." I said "I don't have anywhere to put her and you do not order me to do anything. I'll get someone else to do the work." He left. Then, I called the office. I asked to speak to an owner or manager. Rick said I could talk to him. I told him the story and he said "I find that a little surprising as Bruce is one of our best employees." He informed me that Bruce has been bitten twice. Had Bruce told me that when he was at the door, I would have taken care of the dog somehow. And I also informed Rick that he just told me he didn't believe me and that it sounded like he didn't really give a $hit. ( I should have used nicer language) Rick's response was "I'll have to wait and talk to him to see what REALLY happened." I hung up the phone.

Took a couple hours, with Bruce having to go get parts, but nothing I would consider out of the ordinary. Ice maker and water work great!
Description of Work: Bruce came out and fixed my ice maker and water dispenser which have not worked for a few years. He is a great guy, very professional and I know Bear Valley Appliance has been in business for decades. The price was fair, I just hate spending that much on a 12 year old refrigerator, but it is much cheaper than a new one! Bruce did a great job, everything works perfectly!

I called early Monday morning to schedule someone to come look at my washing machine. The gentleman who answered the phone was very nice and friendly. He said the repairmen make their own schedules and he would give my info to one of them and they would call me. As promised, Mike called later that morning. He asked if he could come right then. I explained I was at work. We tried a different time today - still working. I suggested a time - he wasn't available. He offered another time and again I stated I was working. His response? "Well, I'm working, too." I thanked him for calling and advised him I would get the issue resolved another way.

The repairman had to come out twice because he didn't have one of the parts. A week later I called because the refrigerator wasn't staying cold and was told the compressor went out, would cost approx. $700.00. I had already spent $272.00, and could buy a new refrigerator for the total cost of fixing my old one. I asked if he could take out the new parts and give me credit, but he said he couldn't. So, I spent $272.00 for nothing. He did refund me the trip cost of $80.00.

I called, described the problem, and gave the model number of the stove. The part would be about $40 and I am not comfortable working with the gas lines so I asked about installation as well. I thought the price he gave me, $120, was for the part and installation. I agreed to have it installed. I was told that they would order the part and call me back. I called the next week and talked to Rick. He found my information, told me the part was back-ordered at the warehouse and that he would find out what was up. He called back to tell me the part was still at the manufacturer's warehouse and they would receive it in the next few days and call me. Mike called me and set up a time to install the part. He showed up on time and went to work. He did not check the problem, and I didn't think of suggesting it. He replaced the part after taking out 16 screws, half with a wrench and half with an electric screwdriver, and replaced the whole fitting that brings gas to the burner, which includes the electric ignition piece. He then reassembled the stove and gave me some good advice about how to keep the burner assemblies clean so they function well. In all, he spent less than half an hour at my house. He was friendly and helpful.I was disappointed that the hourly rate was $120, not $80. The entire gas assembly under the burner was replaced instead of just the tiny ceramic and metal ignitor, which might have cost less. I don't know, and will never know, if it was just some corrosion buildup from the gas.

They have been doing an excellent job for years. Our oven was not working. I called Bear Valley about 8:30 this morning. I was told a technician would call me back shortly. Bruce called me back within 30 minutes and said he would be here between 11:00 and 12:00pm. He showed up at 10:40. (He was early, but asked if it was okay that he was already here.) It was no problem for me. I was glad! It rarely happens that a technician arrives early, or on time! Bruce discovered the bottom heating coil was out. He found the part, told me what the cost would be, drove out to get the part, and replaced the heating coil, all within an hour.Very nice, knowledgeable and efficient. Thanks, Bruce!
