He is overpriced, and when I asked them to explain the planned work they got angry at my questions. His contractor showed up and reeked of cigarette smoke so bad that I could not stand to be within 5 feet of him. I ended up asking them to leave. I just started using Angie's list. I wish I would have looked up this contractor before calling. The ratings he gets here are very appropriate!
Description of Work: The boiler on my heating system was out. He came to work on it, but was so unprofessional that I kicked him out. Beware of this provider!

Description of Work: Someone in an organization should be a MASTER PLUMBER - if for no other reason than as a trouble shooter. Marcos, the owner, who refers to himself as the trouble shooter, is not a Master Plumber. He started as an understudy with many plumbing outfits in the area, to learn how to scam people? Make any random call to almost any plumber in the area and ask them about Marcos... his reputation defies any calculation that he is still ion business.

I called this provider because my tankless water heater was making a strange noise and not heating water. The repairman came out at the proper time but reeked of stale beer, quite hungover and in a bad mood. He then proceeded to flush the water heater which loosened several leaks. I was told it had to be replaced. I was quoted a certain price to which I reluctantly agreed. The water heater was replaced. The final bill ended up being $500 dollars more than the original quote because of questionable changes made to the venting system. The water heater does not heat the water to the temperature I require. When I called the provider to state the problem I was told to increase the hot water output at the faucet. B.S. I also had to drive to the providers residence to retrieve my old water heater and still usable parts since he had taken it upon himself to take these without asking me. Beware of dealing with this company.
Description of Work: Replaced my water heater.

We called Marcos to install a fan vent on a cook trailer in Durango. He was very prompt and a very nice person. It quit working when we got home so Marcos drove to our house to look at. It was a switch that got kicked off, our fault. He drove 45 miles to come fix his work, that turned out to be our fault. He would not take any payment for his time and trip. He also drove out to my house to look at a furnce in our basement. He could not repair it because of the age of it and it was so far out of code. I tred to pay him for his trip but he would not except it. I will send him a check for his time anyway and will surely call him if I have any further HVAC needs.

Marco replaced the boiler with in the old house we rent at our landlord's expense. The system has never worked correctly, the radiators do not heat completely, and some radiators connected to the system never get hot at all. After freezing for a few winters and Marco visiting to turn knobs and make no improvements in performance, we called another hydronic plumber to look at the system. Together, we looked at the install instructions on a nail next to the boiler. Apparently, not understanding the installation instructions, Marco piped the boiler incorrectly, making it operate extremely inefficiently. Most of the heat the system generates circulates in a loop in the basement, explaining why the radiators never heat properly. The other specialist estimated correcting Marco's mistakes would cost $800 in parts and $200 in labor. Marco has cost us thousands of dollars in wasted utilitiy bills over the years. When I saw him in town by chance and told him the system had been installed out of spec, he told me to "be careful," which I took as a physical threat. Dishonest, shady, incompetent. Do not use Marco's - you'll regret it.
Description of Work: Steam boiler replacement. Costs paid by landlord - unknown.

"Marco" had his worker-bee show up initially to ascertain any problems involving my hot water heating system. I suspected a water flow problem through system and over the phone he said that he thought it was probably just an inflow issue caused by sediments from the well water and wouldn't be very expensive to fix ( $120 - $150 to fix) His flunkee looked over the system (as I watched) and kept calling Marco as to what to charge me for what he found wrong (as if the pricing changed depending upon the customer?). I felt as if I had no choice but to go along with what needed to be fixed but intuitively felt like I was being completely ripped off at the same time. Marco showed up the next day to to purge the system of the existing glycol onto my lawn which he assured me would not kill the grass (it totally destroyed it), then charged me for twice as much as his helper, Jacob, would say it would cost me. As a single woman not at all versed in the occupation of heating and refrigeration, I feel completely taken advantage of monetarily by Marco's Refrigeration and Heating and would never refer his services, ever. The word "Slick", comes to mind when I think about how this scheister operates his business.

My hot water heater was starting to leak and I have a home warranty through Home Protect. They call Marcos Heating and Refrigeration here in Durango Colorado. I was out of town so my wife had to deal with the service guy. They showed up and with just looking at the hot water heater he informed my wife that the problem was the pressure reducing valve and not the hot water heater. He told her that he thought that might be the problem so he bought one already and was going to instal it. My wife called me and let me know what was happening and that the Marcos guy was insisted on installing the valve. I told her to kick him off the property and do not let him install anything. He then forced her to write a $85 check for the service call and told her that they could file a lein against the property if she did pay him. She wrote him a check just to get him out of the house and away from her. They also went right to the bank and cashed the check the same day so we couldn't put a stop payment on it. After I got home I looked at what Marcos was going to charge. $227 for the pressure reducing valve, $89 for the valve on the hot water heater (that didn't need to be replaced), and $212.50 in labor (2.5 hours at $85 a hour) for a grand total of $528.50. I went to Home Depot bought the same pressure reducing valve for $80 and went into the crawl space to fix the problem. As a novice plumber I changed the valve in 45 minutes. My wife and I think its b.s. of this company to think they can show up and tell my wife, who doesn't know a thing about plumbing, that all this work needs to be done at a outrageous price. Also the way they were insisting my wife write a service check on the spot so they don't have to file a lein on the property. I called Marco and he informed me that he felt there was nothing wrong with the service they provided and that the $375 of mark up was the cost of doing business. When I informed him that I was very upset with his business and I would write these reviews he informed me that I should f*ck off.
Description of Work: The only service that was performed was a guy from Marcos showed up, opened the closet door, visually inspected the hot water heater. He told us nothing was wrong with it and that it was the pressure reducing valve. That was the entire service that was done.
