The snow broke a branch of a tree but it was still hanging up there. The whole tree needed to be pruned. The people from Tree Pro were very kind. One guy was like the leader. He did all the climbing and cutting. All the other guys, 2 or 3 working on the ground, seemed to know for sure what they were doing. They were professionals at what they were doing. There were a few little branches on the ground that they did not pick up but it was not anything bad. The price was probably the same as what I had paid before. When I called them, they could not schedule a visit right away. It took them about a month to come to my house. However, one guy came and looked at the tree. He came on the day he said he would come and rescheduled the job for a month later. After snowstorms in Denver, they get very busy. They did what they were supposed to do; cut the trees and got it done.
Description of Work: Tree Pros trimmed back old, dead branches of a tree that suffered snow damage about 3 years ago.

Arrived on time - had to take out the fence to get the equipment in (stump grinder) the willow tree had split in a snow storm so they cut up what was laying - then they cut the standing part down. There were lots of huge surface roots - they ground those up too. The aspens came down and they ground that stump too. The only issue I had was that they didn't get the fence railings level when they put the fence back up. Everyone was very courteous and polite - did the work in a timely manner in a few hours.

We were extremely pleased with Tree Pros from the responsiveness of our first estimate--they came over the day we called despite the poor weather-- to the very end. They were about 700-1500 cheaper than our other bids and they were knowledgeable and very professional. On the job they were punctual, worked very hard, were organized and careful. They left the area in better shape than they found it, having raked and swept up all leaves and tree debris. We wholeheartedly recommend them.
Description of Work: We had 2 very large willows (60+ ft) removed very close to an exterior structure. Tree Pros needed to navigate protecting the back structure and our garage, as well as a 6 ft. privacy fence and overhead power lines. They sprayed Tordon on one of the stumps and will come back to grind it in 2 months. The other they cut low- per the directions of our excavator who will come in with a back hoe and remove the final stump/roots.

I received two estimates for the tree service that our property required. I selected Paul at Tree Pros because he was expert, listened carefully to my requirements, answered my questions and taught me about tree maintenance, and provided a clear, detailed and itemized estimate. I prefered him to the other contractor, and his estimate was less expensive as well. (written by spouse of Angie's List member)

Tree Pros came to my house at a time I was unable to be there so we arranged that they would do it anyway -- this worked perfectly. When I returned home the two very large, vertical junipers had been pruned and looked so much better than they had; the bill was in my door. They were very professional and easy to work with.

I had a lot of work done. My whole yard had been neglected for a while due to having two terminally ill parents. My yard was overgrown, because I have a lot of trees in my yard. They did the whole thing. They gave me a good bid. They did the bid by charging me per tree. They then gave me the option to put a three man crew in there and do the job in 7 hours, since I did have so many trees. They said it may come out cheaper than being charged per tree. That worked out. They ended up being here for 2 days anyways, but I got more work done for the price. I had a lot of dead wood and old pine needles that they cleaned up. I was quite satisfied. During the summer I called them back because there was one locust tree that was growing back into the gutters. They came out and pruned it, but didn't charge anything. I called them back to trim some Evergreen shrubs in the Spring; that was extra. You just tell them whatever you want them to do. My yard is almost like a little forest. Compared to the other estimates that I got, their prices were good. The proposal was done in October, but it was more like November by the time they came out to do the work. I wanted to wait until closer to Winter when it was safe to trim my apple trees. They were here when they said they would be. They called and said they were coming. When they came back for the second day I felt like they were fitting me into their schedule, but I didn't mind that. They were professional. The experience was positive.

The solar company had sent me a photo of the portion of the tree that needed to come off, and I emailed the photo to Tree Pros. Tree Pros had the photo with them when they arrived for the job. In addition to cutting the top off, they shaped the tree and trimmed the lower branches. Then they cleaned up the lawn under the tree and took away the branches. I called them to do the job sometime in the summer. The first date they offered to do the job had to be canceled due to a personal emergency of one of the crew, so they offered to come on the next Saturday. I said I was in no hurry so they didn't need to come on a weekend, and they came on a weekday shortly thereafter. At all times, they kept me informed of the schedule. Very professional. In addition, they gave me an 8% Angieslist discount.

The tree service company was great. He had a crew of three or four people and they were done in an hour. I was pleased with everything except the price. He had added incorrectly and given me a quote that was much lower than what I actually paid when they completed the job.

Paul came out to the house, looked at the work we wanted done and provided us an estimate of $900. Actually, it wasn't an estimate - Paul said that would be the cost, period, and that there would be no added fees . . . which would turn out to be complete bullcrap . . . more on this point in a little bit. So we accepted the the bid and were told we'd receive another call to schedule the work. We were called a few days later and told a date they would be there. It was a date that I potentially was going to be out of town, and asked if there was another day they could come out. If I'm having almost $1000 of work done at my house, I wanted to be present for it. The guy says they have 4 other jobs scheduled for our area that day (we're in Broomfield) and that they would have to charge us a fuel surcharge to make a special trip back up here just to do our house. A $1000 job and you're going to nickel-and-dime me over fuel for a drive to Broomfield?? Are you kidding?? Broken promise #1 of the "no added/hidden costs guarantee". It turns out I could be home on the scheduled day, so that turned out OK. The crew shows up and make quick work of the evergreens. Good work on those. But I'm told the stumps will have to wait until tomorrow to be ground. They just had someone quit and so they're short a "stump guy". Whatever. Then it comes time to work on the russian olive. The majority of the tree was hanging over a neighbor's yard, and she has a 7-ft wooden fence around her yard. Paul said the crew would use guide-ropes to pull the branches to the other side of the fence when they fell. The crew foreman had no idea what I was talking about, and said that they would have to charge extra for the additional work of throwing the branches over her fence, or throwing them over my 2 much shorted fences, to the the street where their chopper was. I said, no you won't charge extra for that and to get Paul on the phone. He was unavailable, of course. So the solution we came up with was to remove the section of the neighbor's fence so they wouldn't have to throw the branches over. Broken promise #2 of the "no hidden costs" guarantee. In spite of all that, however, they did a pretty good job on the tree. And in the end, it took the "stump-guy" 2 separate trips to our house to complete the job - he missed 2 of the stumps the first time out.
Description of Work: 4 large square evergreen shrubs to be removed (along with stumps), one medium sized evergreen juniper to be removed (along with stump), and a russian olive tree that required trimming.

This customer waited for almost 8 months to post this, so I had to go back to our records to see what happened. When the customer initially called for an estimate, she only asked for a price to trim the Russian Olive tree and to remove evergreens in front. When I got there to give her a free estimate, she was not home to show me what she wanted, and her request was vague, she did not mention 4 evergreens, only that she wanted the evergreens in front removed. I gave her the bid for 2 evergreens and the Russian Olive. Her husband called and said I missed 2 evergreens, they were on the South side, not the front as she stated on her original estimate request, but to go ahead and do the work and to include the 2 evergreens on the South as well as the 2 in front that I had bid on. I told him the price would be comparable to the price of the 2 in front that I had bid on. He said great, go ahead and do the work. When I did the bid, I noticed the neighbor had a large gate to remove the debris from the Russian Olive tree, which was great because the majority of the tree was overhanging the neighbors property. I did not tell her that I would use ropes to swing all of the branches over to her side of the fence, in fact, I never even talked to her about the work, it was a male that was the person who authorized, to do that would have changed the original bid of 180 to about 360 for the additional time it would take to do that. When the crew got out to do the work, the neighbors gate was not operational, so the crew who does this for a living, realized that to do what the customer was requesting, which was to throw all of the debris from the tree over 2 fences to get it to the street was impractical and would have taken much longer to do and required a lot more effort to do. Her suggestion was coming from a person that has clearly not done this type of extremely physically demanding work. The crew made the right choice and the neighbors yard and fence were left in great condition. The total price this customer paid was $588.00, not $900.00, she is being dishonest about many factors in her version of the events that took place at her property.

Received 2 quotes from different companies. Tree Pros was lower but I felt good about going with them from the reports on Angie's List. Weather slowed down the schedule at bit but, I expected that. Received a call from Paul that work would be done on 6/22/09. Crew showed on time, got to work and finished in a few hours. You never would have known the trees had been there. Everything was cleaned up and hauled away. I am very impressed.

I initially had them come do a quote in April. We decided to wait until May, then called to set something up. The guy was busy when I called, so he told me he'd call me back on Monday. We had other projects going on so finally three weeks I got around to calling them back and they did schedule a time. They didn't finish the original job and left one tree virtually untrimmed and didn't remove any of the stumps. They left an invoice on the door with no explanation for why the work wasn't finished. Upon calling them back on a Monday, they said they woud be out in the next few days to finish. Again, no explanation of what the problem was. We still hadn't heard from them by Friday so called back again at 8am and we would be "first on their list this morning". They also let me know that the reason why they hadn't done the work is because they'd just overlooked the tree and were sorry, but that our cars were in the drive and they couldn't get the stump-remover past them. We had NEVER been told to move the cars and would have been happy to do so had we known. So, we removed the cars from the driveway and they showed up after noon to finish the job. In the end, they did an OK job and even removed some brush that was piled up out back but it took forever to finish what should have been a few hours of work. Not to mention the numerous phone calls it took to remind them how to do their own jobs.

When the customer initially called, she stated that she had just purchased a home in Denver and she wanted me to come out to bid on necessary work on her trees and shrubs. I asked her if she could meet with me since I had no idea of what she wanted or her expectations of the finished project, she said it would be difficult for her to meet me, so I should just look over the job and bid on it. I did do the bid and kept it very general because there was a lot of overgrown shrubs, trees, debris, etc. I bid on the large trees to be trimmed and for one large Juniper in back to be removed because it was in very poor condition and trimming would not make it look much better. When she finally called to approve the work, she said she did not want the Juniper removed, but that she wanted it trimmed a little instead. She waited about a month to approve the work and when she did, I scheduled the work for about 3 weeks, since she stated she was not in a hurry. When the crew arrived at the jobsite, they called me because there were 2 new cars in the driveway blocking the main gate to the backyard, the lady of the house was not available because she was out of town, her husband who had called to give me his cell phone number in case we needed to contact him was not available either to move the cars. I immediately went to the jobsite to look for other options for brush removal, the only other gate on the property was a very small gate that was broken and only opened about a foot, in addition it was on the completely opposite side of the yard and to access it we had to walk down a very narrow space along the side of the house. Logistically speaking, it was a major pain to shuttle all of the brush from the large tree in back through this gate. In order to complete the work as promised, we used the smaller gate, which made the work of removing debris from the backyard considerably more time-consuming and difficult on the crew. When I did the original bid, there were cars in the driveway also, but the customer was out of town so I assumed that the cars were not normally there during the week. And it seems to me that if you are having major tree work done on your property, and you have only one working gate, that it is common sense to have your cars out of the way for the crew doing the work. We completed all of the work except the stumps because we could not get our grinder into the back yard. The husband called the next day and complimented us on the pruning; in fact, he said he almost did not recognize the front yard because it looked so good, but that there was still a few dead limbs in the Juniper in back and the stumps still had to be done. It was Friday when he called and I told him I would have a crew out the next week to complete the few remaining things to be finished. On the following Friday, the wife called and was extremely upset, because we had not come yet, I told her that I had 2 crews that were going to come and finish the work that day, I did not tell her first job of the day, I assured her that it would be finished that day, and that I was going to inspect the work that has been completed. When I arrived to inspect the work that my crew had done, I was impressed at the quality of the work that had been performed on her trees, even the Juniper in back had been shaped nicely. She complained that the Juniper still had dead limbs in it. This is the Juniper I recommended to be removed because it was growing in the shade of the Ash tree and there was so much dead wood in it that to trim it would have been ridiculous and it would not have looked much better. But because of her complaint that morning, I had my crew trim the dead limbs out of it anyway, it ended up costing my company money to trim that Juniper, and it did not look better in the end. We take all complaints very seriously, and we sincerely try to offer the best service possible. We make mistakes like all other companies, and in the end all we can do is try to learn from them and improve based on the complaints. I feel that her complaint is exaggerated and that you just can't please everyone, but we do try very hard to offer quality tree work at a fair price. This customer did get very high quality tree work at a very fair price.

I contacted Paul about my trees. He quickly came out and took a look. He is very knowledgeable and I immediately took comfort that I was dealing with a fellow who knew his business well. Once I gave the green light to proceed, it took a couple of weeks to get the work done, but the crew who came out to the house were friendly and professional, and it was impressive to watch them swing through the trees, expertly wielding chains saws as they went. I left for work and when I returned the trees looked great. They seem much happier now. The guys had cleaned up all cut branches. Impressive work.

We were late to the appointment due to very heavy rain in the area, we had to re-schedule all of the scheduled work for the day, and it put us about 35 minutes late to this customers house. When we got there, she was clearly angry, we apologized sincerely for not calling and for being late, and offered her a 20% discount for the inconvenience, she would not let us provide an estimate. We normally do not set a specific time to meet customers for estimates, instead, we normally offer a 30 minute window to meet in case of unforeseen situations. We appreciate the feedback, but we wish she would have given us a chance to bid, because she would not have been disappointed with our price, or our service.

Paul came over 2 days after I called to give an estimate I approved the estimate and he said he would call soon to schedule the work. Paul called the end of the week to say the workers would be there on February 17th in the morning. Four workers came before nine am and finished shortly before one pm . The tree stumps and roots from the bushes were ground up. All areas were cleaned up and no evidence of tree removal was left. Tree pros even gave me a good discount. I obtained three estimates for the work. Tree Pros had the best price and also offered information concerning the poor condition of the tree in the front yard. They had to reschedule the original date of work due to snow. They appeared early with a large crew and removed the trees and bush, cleaned up and left in less than two hours. The yard looked like the trees were never there. I was very pleased with their pricing, professionalism and would recommend them highly. I will use their services again.

It went well. I would definitely recommend Tree Pros to my friends and neighbors. TreePros also honored a 15% discount coupon that we received in the mail. I had three companies bid our job and they were the most competitive. I would use them again.
Description of Work: We had Tree Pros cut down and haul away a VERY large Maple tree in our backyard. We removed the tree so that we'd have enough sun to install solar panels on our roof. The TP guys did a very professional job of bringing the tree down, the tree removal cost $850. We had the large stump ground for $200 more. I also asked the foreman if he could prune away the branches of four Evergreens that were touching the house. They added a fair value on to our bill for this work. They did a nice job pruning back the branches. They completed the whole job in one day. They removed all wood and undesired tree mulch.

Paul was very quick to come out and give me an estimate. He provided literature on their company and prior work. When the workers arrived, they were on time, cleaned up all the branches/debris, and gave me a good price. I would use them again.
Description of Work: They trimmed a Red Maple and hybrid Willow(which is very tall).
