They left a gap at the bottom of the door that has enabled spiders and insects to enter my home and they didn't fix it.

Horrible experience all around - unethical culture from management down to their installation contractor at the Carson St. location. The sales person was new and had no idea what she was talking about. They had to measure twice, as the first measurement was incorrect. Their installation contractor was at our house literally ALL DAY and seemed to be having trouble with the installation. He wanted to go to Home Depot to get parts! When we asked him if everything was OK, he said yes. We came to find out later that he knew that Pella had sent the incorrect parts, but he knowingly tried to install it anyway. We contacted management and they admitted to this, but they were unapologetic. The botched installation voided the warranty, and management's plans to "fix" the installation also voided the warranty. Management also continued to send us "past due" bills even though they had not completed the job. They refused to do the right thing and order and reinstall a new door that was warrantable since it was their fault. We are still dealing with this mess two months later. Run...don't walk away from this place!
Description of Work: We ordered a new custom vinyl sliding glass door.

Josh Bruck was the rep - he called to confirm the day before, and showed up on time. He was very professional, no pressure and thoroughly explained why our project was one they couldn't handle, so no estimate was given. Josh explained the complexity of replacing the bay window and said it would be outside Pella's standards to do the job properly. The window could have been replaced, but only by replacing the whole bay, which would have been cost-prohibitive. He did provide advice on the possibility of replacing the glass, which is the biggest problem with the window - double pane glass lost its seal. Although he didn't have a sale, he made us feel comfortable and well-served by the company. We know of Pella's good quality and reputation, and would definitely recommend them.
Description of Work: Called for estimate on 3 new windows including a large bay window in our home. The office responded quickly and set an appointment for 5/28.

I asked Tim, in the Denver office, for some kind of discount (Pella sends out $500 coupons in the mail all the time). $500 would have been 1.5% of the $32,607.46 total. He said no; that our Pella windows were installed as per the contract. It didn't matter that it took 3 months to finish the installation. Pella has poor Customer Service and no regards for the customer. Tim does a VERY good job of hounding for final payment. Too bad he was not in charge or cared about getting the job done promptly and on time; 3 months is NOT timely.
Description of Work: The installers and salesperson were great. This was a $32,607.46 job for removal & installation of most of our damaged windows due to hail. Our windows are installed in early November 2015. BUT it took 3 months to get the trim ordered correctly (poor quality trim was delivered twice) and installed finally in January 2016. Our holidays, Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Year's, were ruined as far as having family over and celebrating since we had unfinished windows and shutters leaned against our walls.

I'm still waiting on my quote. So far I'm out $110 and my windows / patio door have not been repaired.
Description of Work: Scheduled a service call to my residence in Fort Collins. I have 11 Pella windows and 1 Pella sliding patio door. 4 windows had issues with weather stripping and the patio door did not open easily. I scheduled the appointment for 6/29/15. The repair person was on time and looked at all the windows and screen door. Neither the windows or patio doors were repaired. I was charged $110 for the visit and told that a estimate for repairs would be sent in a few weeks. On 7/13/15, at 12:33p, I phoned the general line for Pella Windows which serviced Denver and Northern Colorado and left a message with Megan, who was assigned to process my repair estimate. I did not hear back from Megan, so at 4:49p I called back. I reached Megan who told me that it would take "about" 3 to 4 weeks for a quote, but that there was no guarantee that a quote could be returned within the time frame quoted. Additionally, she couldn't return my call because "I can't return calls when I keep getting them in". This conversation didn't instill confidence in the local Pella office so I phoned Pell Corporate 641-621-1000, at 4:29p on 7/13. My complaint about response time was notated and that Pella Corporate would reach out to the local office regarding my complaint. On 7/15, I had not heard from Corporate or the local office and called Corporate at 5:54p and was told that I should get a quote by Friday.

It was expensive. I like the fact that they’re wooden doors and sliding glass doors. It worked fine and had some features with it. I was really impressed by their literature about a front door so I bought a fiberglass front door. It has proven to be less than satisfactory. My interactions with them had been fine. The problem is the warranty has expired on the front door. The finish has peeled off in two years time. The reason I went to fiberglass is that my old wood door had been up for 20 years plus. The fiberglass doors was just going to be wonderful but two years later the outer covering has come off and they will not replace it. I was less than pleased about it. I’m in the process of trying to refinish the thing but we’ve already tested it and they won’t refinish properly. They gave me the alternative of buying another door, which I’m not interested. I will go to Anderson before I do that with Pella because they didn’t come and look at it. One door was fine but the other door is not. The installer was wonderful but when it comes to fixing the problem, it zipped.

It was pretty good except they did not bind the windows. My house backs up to a city park and the wind just howls. We were complaining that the windows needed to be reset and bound. He came and put a little something on it and said it would take care of it. It didn't. The windows are great but they didn't want to take them out and bind them up with insulation which we wanted done in the initial installation. They said we didn't need it. We knew what we had to do and they didn't do it. They put in two windows downstairs and they did take one out. They had to do it because it was so horribly, horribly cold in the guest bedroom. They were very good and they did do things; they just didn't bind them. We told them we wanted them insulated. I am quite pleased with the windows per se but their reluctance to do what we wanted them to do was not good. The window was wonderful and it was really a class A window. What they did was useless but they didn't charge us for the fix. They didn't want to spend the money to take the windows out and redo them. They are not going to put any more windows in my house. They are expensive but you get what you pay for. The Pella window is a quality window and you are going to pay for quality. The installation was lousy. They were very fast on trying to response. They were very professional.

Their installation and follow up were problems. It is so poor with installation and collection. I think that when the time comes to do it again, we would likely choose a lesser grade window and door because they simply keep people right on to do it correctly. I would not use this provider again in the future.

This review is for Pella of the Roaring Fork Valley. Kyle was professional and offered expert advice throughout the entire experience. He promptly answered all my phone calls. Called me back right away. Even though I was not a customer buying new windows for my entire house, Kyle always treated me as a number one priority. When I had to visit the office with my two children, the office staff was so accommodating. The window and door was ordered right away. While ordering, Kyle called me and double check everything to make sure it was perfect. When I need to replace any other windows or doors in my house I will absolutely go to Pella. Thank you again.

Everything turned out fine. Everyone I dealt with was very good and they do an excellent job on the installation. The turnaround time from the estimate and installation was about a month or so since they are custome made windows. I have not had any issues with the windows since. I see no room for improvement with quality, but their pricing is a little high.

Sales process was straightforward - as a previous Pella purchaser I knew what I wanted so we didn't waste a lot of time with going over features/functions. Only glitch in the process was getting an installation date - as the installation of the door was a "gating process" in the overall re-siding project (something that I made clear several times during the purchase), it was difficult to get a date. I had to call the sales rep, who had to call her office. I was promised a call by the end of the day, but when no call was received by 4:30pm, I again called the sales rep. She sounded a bit "exasperated" that she again had to do the research for me (since apparently her office partners were unable to) and she called back a short while later with the date. Installation was good - the subcontractor did a great job of ensuring that the exterior deck wasn't damaged in the process and that the house stayed clean and minimal dust was raised during the cutting of the tile entryway. The installation appeared good and all features/functions worked as they were supposed to. HOWEVER, when I went to trim the door the following day, I noted that the interior top/left edge of the door frame stood proud of the drywall - this would mean that the interior door trim would sit off of the drywall by approximately 1/4 inch. In order to correct this, I had to essentially "uninstall" the door (remove screws/insulating foam/etc.) and basically re-set the door in the opening. This is something that could have been easily checked with a straight edge or other flat surface and I was somewhat surprised that it was left in this condition. After the installation, I have only received a survey from Pella - no follow-up from the sales rep or anyone else from the local Pella team. Again, this seems a bit odd when my ENTIRE home is Pella and having just spent nearly $7K on a single door.
Description of Work: Pella replaced an existing Pella patio slider door (approximately 16 years old) with a new French door. Pella provided the door as well as installation services through one of their subcontractors. Replacement of the door was in preparation for re-siding of the home.

When we previously remodeled our kitchen and bathroom, our two windows were replaced with Pella windows. We were happy with the product and we wanted to get an estimate for the replacement of windows throughout the rest of the house. The sales representative was very professional. He walked us through and took all of the measurements so that he could provide us with a comprehensive quote. He was able to give us a quote on site with his laptop and wireless printer. The only problem was that it was an unbelievable expensive proposal and we backed out. We chose not to go forward with the project at the time.

This has been an 18-month mess and we still aren't done. 1. January 2012: The sales rep did not reply in a timely manner when we requested information and an estimate. We gave Pella another chance and a different rep came and gave us an estimate. 2. We ordered 11 windows with the understanding that they would need to be installed within the period of mid April to mid May 2012 as we were making a special trip out to Colorado from Wisconsin for the installation. We kept contacting the sales rep as we hadn't received a receipt for our 50% deposit or an order confirmation. After we got to Colorado in April we discovered that the order had never been processed properly and the windows would not be ready until after we returned to Wisconsin in May. After repeated unsatisfactory contacts with the sales rep and his manager, we finally wrote to the president of the company. We were contacted by the Pella Colorado Operations Manager. Eventually they agreed to reduce the cost of the windows by 10% to cover the cost of our airfare for the wasted trip. June 2012: The windows were installed when we returned to Colorado for the summer. Some parts were missing and reordered. As we were washing the windows we kept discovering flaws in the e-coating between the panes of glass. August 2012: When the Pella tech came up to supposedly install the missing parts (the shop sent the wrong parts with him), he inspected all of the windows and discovered that nine of the eleven windows were defective. Replacement glass was ordered. September 2012: The tech came and reglazed most of the nine defective windows. Three of those nine replacements were also defective. February 2013: The tech came and finished the repairs of the missing parts. He was able to reglaze 2 of the defective windows. (He brought 3 windows for the casement windows and only 2 of them were free of defects. Neither of the two replacement picture windows he brought with him could be installed because of defects. June 2013: The morning of the "final" reglazing, the tech called to tell us that they couldn't find the two replacement windows he had personally inspected. (We found out later that someone had mistakenly sent those windows to the compacter and destroyed them.) July 9, 2013: The tech returned with a replacement window for the final defective window. They washed it out on the deck before installing it just to make sure it was OK. They found three more major defects in the window. They took it back and we are still awaiting replacement of that window. To Pella's credit, they are standing behind their guarantee. We appreciate that. Also, our tech has been outstanding and is very professional. But this has been a crazy ride. We only live in Colorado half of the year, so that has prolonged the process. But if the order had been handled correctly and if quality control were doing their job at the factory, our windows would have been completed 14 months ago and we would not have wasted all of this time and energy and frustration on this project. Message: Think twice before you order replacement windows from Pella.
Description of Work: We had them replace the windows in our great room and master bath. We went with Pella because of their name recognition and reputation.

This was a miserable experience. First off one of the main windows was not measured correctly and had to be re-ordered. Secondly, getting the windows installed took longer than it should have - getting people to show up consistently didn't happen. Getting the mis-ordered window re-ordered and installed took weeks. The hardware (cranks) were not installed until months after the fact. I work from home and do a lot of conference calls. One time, I was on a call when the doorbell rang. I was not expecting anybody and since I was leading the call I was on, I continued with my call and did not answer the door. The next thing I know, the Pella salesman had walked into my house - his rationale? "Well no one answered the door and it was unlocked." Since when does that give anyone the right to walk into someone's house? He is lucky I didn't have a gun at the time. I do now. Right now, I am on the FOURTH re-order of screens for my master bedroom - NINE months after the start of install. I am supposedly on "rapid response"...which somehow takes 6 weeks to make 2 screens. I would sure hate to be on their regular response. When I called the service manager, the response was "that's just the way it is". When I called the distributor manager based out of Denver and suggested he had some opportunities for improvement - he too said his guys were doing the best they could and there was nothing he could do once the order was placed (ie it is all the factory's fault for timing) - no accountability. If you live in Estes Park, be forewarned that service is only provided on Tuesdays - and you have to be available the whole day. The service guy is very friendly and competent (he was the only positive in all of this) but he is only available one day a week. Pella windows are quality windows and I have no complaints with them (other than the screens) now that they are installed, but given the office you have to deal with in the Estes Park-Fort Collins area, I would urge anyone to use an alternative vendor - there are other options out there.

I thought it was great that they spent so much time answering my questions. I felt that gave me a better product and service all around.
Description of Work: They were very thorough. They brought up some things that my other 4 quotes didn’t bring up at all. They came out a second time to look at the windows and give me a better idea of what additional costs might be that the sales person wouldn’t have noticed. See above. Generally, the repair seems ok, and is holding up. Also, please note this was the repair division, which I believe is run out of Denver.
Description of Work: They replaced a pane in one of our Pella windows . First of all, it took about 4 weeks or so to manufacture a pane of glass . So, in the meantime, we had a cracked window. Secondly , once the day of installation came, the price for repair was going to be about 3 times what I was told on the phone. This resulted from them wanting to charge additional time , and for 2 workers. This was straightened out after at least 2 phone communications .

We thought it was pretty neat when we saw it in the Pella showroom. Slides across in the INSIDE, doesn't get hammered by WX. But there are problems which we saw before we bought and have proven to be worse than expected: 1. You can't move the window with the screen closed 2. In a high bug area, the screen fills up--like with Millers--then the rolling mechanism jams and it won't retract 3. Smallest ding--like dog tried to go thru it one night -- and it won't roll up completely anymore. You might love it, but I'd not do it again. It's a flawed concept. We also got the inner blinds which work great if the window is CLOSED!
