They started in June and the work is still not done. There are holes that have not been filled and there are trenches that are still existing. Also, some of the hoses of the sprinkling system have been run over the roots of trees in my yard, which was unnecessary and could cause problems in the future. Also, the water main valve was left on, and is spraying against the foundation of my house. I've called them multiple times to try to get them out to finish the work, and they have been largely unresponsive.
Description of Work: They are installing a sprinkling system for me.

We've used them for 10 or 15 years. Comparable prices. Anything I need, they figure out a way to do it. We are moving out of city so we can't use them any longer. I've been recommending them to everybody. Efficient, make suggestions, work within your budget. Hard working employees. They job I required was done well. I have no complaints. Fast, efficient and cleaned up after themselves.

When they delivered firewood to us about a month ago, we asked for an estimate for them to remove a large tree much too close to the house, and a stump in another part of the yard that had been left after we had been cut down a small tree before. They gave us the estimate immediately, and we arranged for them to call me when their schedule opened up so they could perform the service. I decided to check with them after a few weeks, and they were able to come out two days later. I was amazed at how fast they were at taking out the tree and grinding the stumps into nothing with their amazing stump grinder. They were excellent! Very knowledegable, professional, thorough, and friendly! We will call them back again for firewood and anything to do with trees!
Description of Work: Removed a large tree and stump, and also removed another tree stump.

Great service! Great product (full cord, very high quality firewood)! And stacked it in our back yard very neatly. We will also be hiring them to remove a tree and a separate stump.

Overall, it was awesome. See above for details. We have only dos and no don't for this company.
Description of Work: My husband called several companies from Angie's List for firewood, and this one charged considerably less than the others he called. He ordered a cord of firewood which was delivered at the exact time he was told it would be. It was cut to just the right size, and stacked at the place he wanted it stacked. It was all good wood; perfect for our needs. We were extremely satisfied with this company and plan to call them next for tree trimming. We'll call them much earlier next year for our firewood. We highly recommend them.

I thought this was going to go great. I contacted this company after receiving their name from a friend. A very nice and polite CU student came and gave me an estimate for the work to be done. The only hitch was that he said he had run out of bid paperwork, (so he coldn't provide documentation of the bid). I wasn't concerned as they were a refferal and seemed like a nice small operation. The work day came and no one showed up. I contacted the company and the owner told me that he had gotten a surprise visit from a cousin and was visiting with him but they would be there the next day. Foolishly, I agreed. When they showed up, the willow tree removal went smoothly. When it came to removing the beetle bush, however, everything went awry. The owner, who was working the stump grinder, said he wouldn't be able to get rid of the stump because of all the river rock beneath it. When I told him that they were supposed to remove the river rock as well, he FLIPPED OUT! He said that there was way too much river rock and that he wasn't going to do the job for the bid price. He started swearing and screaming at me (in the front yard of our house) and went and took the shovel from the worker removing the rock and threw it down, telling him to stop working. When I explained that I had a firm bid that included the rock, he started screaming again and picked up his cell to try and call the young man who had given us the bid. When he couldn't reach him, he started yelling profanities at me and telling me that he was going to dump "all this F*^$ING rock" in the middle of my front lawn if I didn't pay more. When I said I wouldn't, he got into his truck and sped away to look for the man that gave me the bid (who, ironically, was canvassing my neighborhood with flyers). Minutes later they returned and the young man confirmed his bid amount. The owner was furious and started yelling profantites at all of us. It was INSANE. After 20 minutes of ranting, he got in his truck and sped off. Twenty minutes later, the young man knocked on our door and apologized profusely for the behavior of the owner and for all of the trouble. He said that he "handled the people-end of the business" because the owner was such a buffoon. Ultimately, I gave the agreed upon amount of money to the young man because I felt bad for him and they HAD done most of the work (and there WAS a lot more river rock under the bush than we had expected). But save yourself the headache and humiliation of dealing with this company - AND DON'T!
Description of Work: Removal of dead willow, removal of large "beetle bush" in front yard, removal of river rock beneath beetle bush.

Response from Our Family Tree Service
I am a little surprised after reading this negative review. This particular job was completed in June of 2011. At Our Family Tree we try very hard to satisfy all of our customers. I cant say that my attitude on the day that this work was completed was 100% positive. At that time we were paying a man to do door to door sales for us. I was made aware of the new job that our sales man aquired. The proposal seemed to be fair and clear. "Remove dead willow tree and also a large beetle bush with stump. I have to make it known that it is our common practice to remove as much non plant material (rocks, dirt etc.) while grinding as possible. I realized how deep the river rock was beneath the bush. I had already ground close to 8 inches into ground, when i decided that grinding deeper would risk damaging surrounding property with flying rock. When the customer was made aware, she was irritated by the news. I ground about 8 in. and stopped grinding. It should be known that the acceptable distance is 8 - 10 inches deep when grinding stumps. I must say that the way I presented myself that day was not totaly professional, but was not at all how she described it. I have alway's ran my business with the customers satisfaction my number one goal. I did apologize for my actions that day. I am confused as to why more than a year later a negative review was written. I did offer to remove all of the rock for an additional cost. I have learned from this experience and make every effort possible to go above and beyond work expectations. I make a point to give all of the bids, in person to avoid confusion.

One tree was so old that as it grew up two pieces of the trunk and branches came together to form a large loop in the middle. When they took down the tree, I specifically requested that they save that section of the tree because it was very beautiful, which they did. It now sits as a decoration in my backyard. They were very good and the price was very reasonable.
Description of Work: They took out three big evergreen trees in my backyard.

It started out very well, Mary was very responsive when I called to get their services. Justin came out to do an estimate within 2 days. He went over the yard with me and talked about all the services they could provide above and beyond just clearing out the trees around the fence. I thought they were very professional, responsive and reasonably priced so I hired them. They coordinated with the fence company and came out and completed the job as pertains to the fence. There were still trees and areas we had talked about clean up that they had not completed so I communicated this to them and they were very concerned and indicated they would complete the job in the next few days. When they were a no show, I called and was told the wind delayed the job which is understandable and they gave me an estimate of the next week to complete the job. After a week and no communication, I called again and recieved the same story, the wind. After waiting another week I called again, after which I have still not received a call back. They finally came out (without notice) sometime this week (a month later) and cleared a few more trees that we had talked about. Given that it had been almost 4 weeks since the job had initially been done, we assumed they would contact us to go over the remaining work to ensure it was all completed. This did not happen so I still consider the job incomplete but have also deemed it a lost cause. It is unfortunate because I thought Mary and Justin were wonderful people and they actually did a great job. I would suggest maybe a walk through of all the expected work the day they arrive to do the job just so you don't have to call them back. I understand that weather is a huge factor in their schedule but courtesy phone calls to the customer to make sure they are aware of delays is vital.
Description of Work: As part of a new fence installation, they came out to clear out any trees or bushes that were obstructing, In addition, I wanted to have them clean up the rest of the yard, trim dead branches, cut down surplus trees, trim branches away from the house, etc.

Description of Work: I had a 30 year old Fir tree that was too close to the house. Their quote to remove the tree and grind the stump was significantly lower than another estimate I received. They also gave my advice on a Cotton wood tree that I was wanting trimmed in my son's yard. They saved me money by letting me know that trimming was not necessary, which I truly appreciated. Many of my neighbors were very happy with their services as well.
