They were able to fit us in right away and were very professional. Don explained everything to me in layman's terms and was very easy to work with. They were true to their estimate, and we received an additional 10% owing to using Angies List. We are very pleased with the finished job, thank you Mightybee.
Description of Work: We had a safety inspection then hired Mightybee to make some changes around our home. They did a main electrical service upgrade to 200 amp, with newservice mast to raise the service feeder and update the grounding. In addition, they replaced many unsafe outlets around our home, added outlets to our bedroom, and fixed our broken house fan,

We are getting ready to sell the house and I knew that my Zinsco service panel would be a red flag in a home inspection as would aluminum wiring. Zinsco service panels have a tendency to not pop breakers if a circuit overloads, which could cause wires to overheat and catch fire. I wanted to be able to show to a potential buyer that the service was safe and that there would not need to be costs escrowed at closing for the repair/replacement of the wiring. Additionally, I wanted to provide a larger service for the house. With most modern houses 100 amp service is not large enough to provide power to modern appliances, entertainment systems and computers. I called Martin after looking on AL for coupons. Found a coupon that would give me a new 200 amp service for $1600. Martin thought that the coupon had expired, but immediately agreed to honor it should we choose him to do the work. I got 3 estimates from folks listed on AL and MightyBee was the lowest by over $1000. One of his competitors didn't even come to the house to look at the scope of work, he just gave me a quote over the phone. Martin pigtailed 80+ electrical connections and replaced the panel as per the specs of the contract. We found several melted wires at junction points in the house that never caused the breaker to pop, which is the main problem with the Zinsco service panel. Martin or his assistant Don, showed me every problem they found, which were numerous, but did not try to charge me extra for any of the required repairs. He said it was all part of the scope of work. We did give him 2 change orders which he provided without any issues and at a reasonable price. They made sure the job was properly inspected and approved by Denver's Building Department. The job took several more days than the original estimate, but this was due to the many problems that were found. I was very impressed with MightyBee's professional attitude and the obvious care that they put into the work. This was certainly a case where the lowest bid did not mean lower quality. The care, concern and pride that Martin and Don put into their work shows through in everything they do. I feel much safer in my house now that the work is done. I am amazed that my house hadn't caught fire long ago. Additionally, I now feel that I can sell the house knowing that whoever buys it will be safe. Great Job MightyBee!
Description of Work: I had the company come to give me an estimate to replace and upgrade my electrical service and to pigtail my aluminum wiring in my house. Pigtailing means properly splicing aluminum wires with copper to reduce the possibility of electrical fires associated with aluminum wires, which were in common use in the late 60s and early 70s.

I am SOO glad the member's decided to do this work! They were nice people to work for, but now I can have peace of mind as well. Those numerous problems we found were, as you can see quite dangerous and just exactly the kind we try to avoid by doing the pigtailing of copper on to Aluminum. We run in to this more often than most people think. Add to that problem a service panel with breakers that may not trip under an event like they had in each of those pictures you see and we have a recipe for disaster! The blessing for me is saving someone that grief. I have personally already experienced that once in life. Thanks member!

Thank you. This lady bought a slightly older home that had a few kinks that we were able to work out for her like very few outlets in bedrooms and no 3 way switching from top to bottom of stairs. Even though they were in "lathe & plaster walls" which are very hard to cut cleanly, the remodel came out pretty good. "lathe & plaster" was a method of applying small slats of wood across framing, with small cracks between them that were filled with cement. Strong, and fairly clean in look but very difficult to work with. As is common in some of the older homes the circuits were overloaded since the dawn of modern appliances adding more load to the problem. Nice older but slightly updated home.

When Don came to look at the situation and schedule the upgrade, I also talked to him about some other work in the house. There were extra costs associated with our work, but it was all very reasonable. We were fit us into the schedule quickly and even though we had a hiccup on our side, they switched gears to fit into our constraints without an issue. Day of upgrade both Martin and Don came to make sure the work was done in one day. As expected, there were issues in other areas, and even though it was more work for them, they honored the original estimate. I definitely plan to use them again!
Description of Work: We purchased 200AMP Panel Upgrade from "The Big Deal" after reading all of the reviews and decided to take the chance on this company. I knew the previous owner had done a lot of work himself and in my limited knowledge, I knew a lot of it was a disaster.

This was another case of a past homeowner, or someone with just enough knowledge to be....able to get it done, but incorrectly by code standards. Much of the work in her basement was definitely out of line. I guess I should say this here. Extra things sometimes pop up, and sometimes I can honor them in the scope of work, sometimes I can't. But we do try our best to keep the owner informed when we find those "unexpected" items. Stephanie was very workable and very congenial to work with. I appreciate that.

Martin was the first of three contractors to arrive to give estimate. In discussing the project, he was professional and projected a sense of dedication to quality that made me comfortable in hiring him without talking to the other contractors. He made several useful suggestions that saved money and/or improved the results. This has been one of the best experiences that I've ever had with a contractor.

The original service panel was made by Federal Pacific and is known to have problems. The weather head mast was broken which allowed moisture to collect where the electricity comes into the house. I got several bids. Each electrician had a different opinion, but I felt that Mighty Bee had the most knowledge and experience. Don and Martin did a great job. The service panel is labeled in detail, all the new work was done neatly and professionally, and they took care to work quickly to minimize how long the power would be out. I've hired electricians before, but Mighty Bee did a better job in a shorter time. Even the electrical inspector from the City commented that it was a very nice installation.

Martin first came over to provide a bid for the job. He was quick to respond to any phone calls he missed from me as well as providing a prompt response for the quote. He was able to fit us into his schedule within a week. Then when it came time for the job, he was on-time and provided details as to how the thermostat should be installed once our other contractor came. he was quick and efficient in completing the job, leaving no mess behind. I would HIGHLY recommend him to anybody who wants a friendly, local provider.

Mighty Bee had to assess and deal with a rather "backyard mechanic" type electrical, in the attic and re-route some lines. --- It went well overall; especially since the new renters moved in sooner than expected; thusly making it more difficult for him to do his job. I would hire him again.

Technician John Marcias was very professional and courteous and performed the job flawlessly, including putting back everything and leaving the work area cleaner than when he came. BUT this service came at a very dear price. I bit on the Angie's list "deal" of $75 for a fan install. By the time all was said and done, I was charged $290 for the install, which amounts to almost $80 per hour. Do yourself a favor, for something as straightforward as a ceiling fan install, go hire a handyman.

The guy that came over seemed to have an opinion of his own about the problem. He thought the humming we were hearing was normal. He may have not placed a foam gasket (to keep it from vibrating the wood beams). Shortly after, the fan returned to humming (and I remember the technician leaving with spare parts). He also tried to sell us a surge protector for the whole house for $500.

Response from MightyBee Electric, LLC
This work was done under MD Electric, and we did have employees then too so anything could be possible. We were not simply contracted to install the fan, we were and are now an authorized service center for Casablanca Fan Company and know them quite well. I have worked on them for 5 years, and these fans don't come with foam gaskets. Yes, occasionally there are a couple of parts not needed after an installation, especially if we are replacing one that was already up. There are absolutely a few models of their fans with direct drive motors that make more noise than others. Of course, Casablanca is known for very quiet operation, except for direct drive motors. A surge arrestor for the WHOLE HOUSE was probably presented. Casablanca fans, as well as most other electric devices in your homes are electronic and have circuit boards in them. You protect your computers with surge "strips". We try to protect your whole house with one. I have had many customers with insurance claims from lightning strikes "close" to them, of 3 to $7000 dollars that could have been averted with one of my Whole House Surge Arrestors.

Great. Martin came to the site on time, gave me a realistic quote, examined, in more detail, the work that needed to be done- moreso than other bidders, described the process to me and ultimately delivered on what he said he would do- rerouting a 240V circuit to a new location. I will use Martin again.
Description of Work: Martin was great. When he got into the job- re-routing a 240V circuit for a new kitchen oven, he ran into a couple of unforseen obstacles which took more time than he originally anticipated. What impressed me is that he honored his original quote. He reminded me that when we actually get the oven into the proper location that he will come back and finish the hook-up. That's great service. I will definitely use Martin for future electrical work around our house- there's plenty more to be done.

This was an interesting job and I appreciate my customers comments. It turned out "almost " exactly as I figured with a twist, but that happens. There was exactly the amount of drywall damage I expected and reported, BUT the location for the outlet was not where we expected so he had one extra repair. It was a difficult remodel but do-able for an experienced pro. This member was a wonderful customer, up beat and kind.

Martin came to provide an estimate at the agreed upon time. His method was very impressive. He didn't just look at the chandeliers and quote a price. He described all that was involved, especially with moving the light the light in the kitchen. He even took the existing chandelier down to check the wiring and determine how much work had to be done to move it. His price was reasonable; I graded it a B because I had other estimates that were lower. When I made an appointment for the work, Martin was on time and did an excellent job on both lights. He even put the new chandeliers together to save me the bother. He was polite, professional and clean. He cleaned up any bits of drywall due to cutting a new hole for the relocation and covered his feet to prevent tracking anything in the house. I am very pleased with the result of his work.

The job went as well as I could have expected. MtyBee Electric responded promptly, which is important to me because I need to have a happy tenant especially now when the commercial market is so saturated with potential inventory for companies looking for lease space, and they always call me first before performing any repairs. That gives me a chance to weigh whether or not I can afford the work in the time frame that I have to accomplish repairs for the tenant. I highly recommend them.

This has to be one of my best pieces of work. Intermittent power outages was the problem caused by a real bad connection on one wire of the main breaker which was an obsolete breaker. There are a few available but they are expensive and a complete panel disassemble would be required. On top of that it was New Years Eve and everyone was either shut down or in process so my customers stood to be with no power all weekend. I am a 33 year Master Electrician and also have FAA licenses to repair Aircraft so some of my extended training paid off. I was able, and lucky enough to be perfect in drilling out the old terminal screw without messing up the threads and was able to install another matching screw and tighten up the connection. I realistically have to say that not one in probably 500 other electricians could have or would have tried that, much less succeeded. This was certainly one time I was glad to have been of service.

Arrived promptly, was friendly and very professional. Explained his company and its philosophy carefully. He put on shoe covers without being asked. Several hours after he left, the reception again turned fuzzy, so I called the company to report it. Derek came back that night, at 8:30, and checked the antenna again to find a loose bolt.
