We contacted Mighty Bee Electric on 6/14/2013 At 10:48 am to upgrade our electrical panel using the Angies List?s 200 Amp Panel upgrade $1599 deal. We knew installation from the start that the panel upgrade was going to be more than the $1599 deal since our house had an addition built on in the 70?s and they left the power meter and existing panel in a closet in the addition and mentioned all of this to Tracy on the initial phone call. Tracy with Mighty Bee recommended that they come out and give us an estimate to complete the work. We agreed and scheduled the appointment for Thursday 6/20/2013 between 10 and 2. On Thursday June 20th Mighty Bee showed up as promised. They gave us an estimate to upgrade the panel with the Angies list discount, add surge protection and relocate the existing meter to the outside of the house and get everything back up to current NEC standards. Their bid also included $500 in Local City of Lakewood Building Permits and mentions that we might have a charge in the $200-300 range from Excel for the utility to reconnect to the new meter housing. Mighty Bees quote was $3782 plus the extra Excel charge. We also wanted to get a couple of other bids on the projectand told Mighty Bee that we would get back to them in a few days. We received 3 other bids, all bids were within a couple hundred dollars of each other and we choose Mighty Bee since they were gold star rated and had the highest rating on Angies List. On Monday June 24th we contacted Tracy at Mighty Bee to schedule the work and to give them time to contact Excel and City of Lakewood to get all necessary permits and scheduled the work to be completed on 7/2/2013 and 7/3/2013. As part of the quote mentioned above we as the homeowners agreed to frame a wall in our unfinished basement to mount the new breaker panel in, and remove cabinets and drywall in our kitchen to give them full access to the wires on the back side of the existing service panel and to give them access inside of the wall for running the new service wires. We also agreed to have a underground utility locate completed and to dig a 30? long trench to relocate the existing electrical service from Exel to our new meter. We completedeverything on the above list except the trench and contacted Tracy at Mighty Bee on Friday June 28th at 10am to verify that all permits were completed and everything was good to go for the following week. Tracy said all paper has been or would be completed and there are no hold ups and we were good to dig the trench and everything would be completed as planned the following week. On Sunday June 21st we rented an excavator and dug as discussed with Mighty be a 30? long 18-24? deep trench for the new service. We had everything complete that we said we would and as promised by Mighty Bee they arrived at 8:30 on July 2ndto complete the work. On the first day Don with Mighty Bee installed the meter housing and new breaker panel and came back the next day to jumper the wires to the new panel from our old one and have excel move the existing service to the new meter housing. Around 2pm after Martin and Don made several calls to Excel. An Excel engineer stopped by to see what we were doing. Looking displeased the Excel engineer gave us her card for email follow up and left. Don with Mighty bee had already pulled our existing meter earlier that day and when Excel left he jumpered the new panel to excels service bypassing the meter and mentioned that they were 90% complete and will be back in a couple days with excel to complete. We paid Mighty Bee $3500 for the work completed so far thinking the job would be finished up in a day or two On Monday July 8th we received an email from Excel listing several items that needed to be signed and completed before they could schedule the move of our service to the new meter housing and need $634 from us just to get the process started on their side. This is also when we learned that Mighty Bee didn?t contact Excel until they started work at our house, Mighty Bee also didn?t pull the permits from the City of Lakewood prior to starting work either. We also learned that our trench was not dug to Excel?s trench standards. In order to get to an end to this mess my wife went to Excels office and met with an engineer on Tuesday July 8th at 7:30 am to fill out all of the paperwork Mighty Bee didn?t do and to pay the $634 which is the start of our extra fees. We did call Mighty Bee and left a message at the main number at 5:44pm on July 7th to have them call us back that night so that they could be there with us to go over Excels requirements. No one called us back and I called the Mighty Bee back at 12:29pm on Tuesday July 8th and Tracy answered after a few choice words from me she had Martin the owner call me to make things right. So here we are 10 days after thisjob was supposed to be complete with a bypassed meter, 30? trench beside our house and that wall we opened up in our existing kitchen had our sink and dishwasher in it so our kitchen is a crippled mess. Martin has called us back twice promising that he?ll make it right, yet nothing has happen except he points fingers at Excel and makes excuses. He has not provided an answer or timeline as to when or how this little project will be completed. I provided a lot of details in my post, Angies list moderators if you would like phone records, copies of the quotes etc please let me know and I will gladly provide them. Martin I hope that exposing the delays and lies on getting permits and approvals on our project helps push you to get this completed. My advice is if you are really as honest as you say you are and you did all of your paperwork and Excel is the issue, you should file a complaint with the PUC because this really makes you and your business look bad. I would like to mention there was one piece of paperwork that Mighty Bee completed, they ran our Credit Card instantly and got paid. Although the promised 120v volt outlet on outside of our house hasn?t been installed, the arc fault breakers are installed yet and there?s been no sign of the whole house surge protector. Plus the fact of our service being messed up and not finished as mentioned above. We also were charged for the wire that connects our meter to Excels service. Excel provides this wire and Martin with Mighty Bee as part of his comments to us promised he is going to credit us back for this but we haven?t seen a dime yet. For other customers, We feel pretty screwed by these guys and I wouldn?t recommend them unless you want to take time off work to get chewed out by Excel and enjoy getting the opportunity to shale out extra money for their mistakes and enjoy summer weekends by the trench in your back yard. Another plus is the trench also is hard to keep secure so you get to talk to you neighbors a lot more as you dogs escape though it and last but not least if you open up a kitchen wall for these lying clowns, plan out eating out for a while. One last thing is you better book them quick because without permits when the work was completed and leaving unsafe site conditions the other parties involved highly recommend that we call DORA to have them investigate to see if they are competent enough to be licensed electrical contractors in Colorado. We are fair we are going to give them a couple more days to get this job finished correctly before we turned them in. To date they are only 10 days past their promised completion date of July 2nd , just another example of how good Mighty Bee?s ?Honest Electrician? promise is.

I paid for the service but elected not to use it.. Maybe it was my misunderstanding of what was going to be done. When speaking to the electrician it seemed like a very basic outlet check but no trouble shooting which is what I was expecting. He said that would be an additional cost, thus I never used it. I didn't need an electrician to tell me my outlets work.

Every one of Martin's team was courteous, professional, and hard-working. They pulled a 12-hour day the first day they worked on our home, and a four-hour day the next - and all with a great attitude! The work they did was perfect, and they even stopped to answer our questions as they went about their business in our home. They were prompt, affordable, and we would definitely use them again!
Description of Work: Martin and his team repaired a service panel and "pigtailed" all the wires on our home to bring it up to date. He also put in a surge protector.

These young folks were a pleasure to work for too! And we were relieved that they had this work done as we found numerous issues within the wiring of that house that were a little scary. Now we know that it is a lot safer, we feel a whole lot better.

They showed up when they said they were going to. They were very professional throughout the whole experience. Both our panels were out of date by a few decades and they explained exactly what they were going to do before they did it so there were no surprises at the end of the day. We have had absolutely no problems with the work that was performed.

I was really impressed with the guy that came out. He definitely know his stuff and was knowledgable. I got an estimate for the follow up work and I thought the price was very high. The work they actually did for the Deal was phenomenal. He was totally professional and very thorough. I did not feel short changed at all, I feel like I got double the money out of it.

Mighty Bee was extremely thorough, and went beyond the scope of work that was in the coupon. Martin Black, the principal of Mighty Bee did the inspection himself and his level of expertise is very impressive. He checked all the outlets in the basement, and matched them to what the amperage rating was to the corresponding circuit breakers. He explained that what we had were arc fault circuit breakers and not ground fault circuit breakers; and how the current usage was tripping these breakers. Most importantly, there was nothing wrong with the electric in the basement and only what was being used on these plugs. An unexpected plus, was that Mighty Bee is the repair and maintenance expert in Colorado for Casablanca fans. We have a top end Casablanca fan that we did not think was safe to operate over the last 3 years and we could not afford to replace it. We have not yet had the fan repair done yet, we will be bringing Mighty Bee to the repair work on the Casablanca fan.
Description of Work: This was an Angie's List Coupon to do a whole house inspection, but we had him inspect only the basement electrical outlets which seemed to arcing to trip the circuits more often than they should and diagnosed 2 fans that were not working.

About 30 minutes before my appointment I received a call stating they would be unable to make it. The truck had been in an accident and needed to be towed. No one else was available to fill in at that time. They gave me another appointment 2 days later. Three men, including the owner arrived on time. They swept my house for all electrical issues and completed the work in about 3 hours. They were fast, efficient, courteous and fair. I will use them again. I would recommend them to anyone needing an evaluation and/or service.

The electrician and his apprentice came over, and did a sweep of the house top to bottom. They checked all the outlets, the ceiling fan wiring, and the whole house fan. They made a report of their findings, and attached an invoice of what could be done and all the prices.
Description of Work: We had a home electrical inspection and they were very thorough. They found a number of items like loose sockets and other minor electrical issues. Thankfully my husband will be able to fix most of these items but they were willing to fix for a nominal charge.

I took advantage of a $30 special for a whole house electrical inspection from Mightybee Electric. My house is 30-35 years old and one of the prior owners had done some extensive rewiring in the basement to accommodate a home office. But the rest of the house was left with some weird problems. (Wall switches that didn?t turn on anything. Installed lighting that didn?t work. Wiring that didn?t connect to anything or receptacle wiring that had been cut. Circuit breakers left in the ?off? position but if you switched them back on another breaker would trip off and so on.) I was also concerned that I had overloaded one circuit with computers, TV, DVRs, DVD player, router, modem, etc. That turned out not to be a problem. They answered all my questions and found problems or potential upgrades I was unaware of. Over the next few weeks I dealt with two of their electricians, one apprentice and a couple of the office staff. Without exception they were all a pleasure to deal with. All were very cheerful, professional, competent and obviously took pride in their work. They didn?t try to sell me on unnecessary work and suggested I might want to do some myself (like replace smoke detectors). They cleaned up after themselves each day and didn?t leave me with any required wall patching or paint touch up. I will use them again and recommend them to others without hesitation. Oh, and they offer a 10% discount to new customers and a 5% senior discount on any subsequent work
Description of Work: Performed whole house electrical system inspection. Repaired/corrected tne following problems: 1. Corredted neutral and ground wires in circuit breaker box that were double lugged and not up to code. 2. Installed grounding system with solid copper wire attached to main water line in front of house and two grounding rods in back of house. 3 .Installed SyCom whole house surge protection system. 4. Changed standard duplex receptacle in main bath to a quad receptacle. 5. Hooked up quad receptacle box in down stairs room. 6. Repaired and reran wiring for light and switch in laundry room. 7.Corrected basement bath GFCI problem. 8. Replaced ballast in existing kitchen light and ran wiring through attic for new kitchen light.

It must be really easy to run a "smokin'" deal on Angie's list when you don't return phone calls! I called this company two times. The first time I didn't get a call back. Giving the benefit of the doubt (calls get lost, info gets lost, etc), I waited over a week and called back - leaving a second message. On both calls I left detailed info including my name, phone # and the services I was interested in. I also identified myself as an Angie's list member. NO RETURN CALL! I don't know about anyone else, but this is the #1 biggest complaint I have with contractors - if they can't return a phone call, what kind of company do they run?

i bought an angie's list "big deal" from mighty bee to have them come out and do a safety inspection on the entire house. we've just moved in and knew that there was outdated aluminum wiring and wanted the electrical on the remodeled areas of the house checked out, so at that time i also had them do an estimate for all the work we knew needed to be done. the guys were very courteous and punctual, they explained everything that they found clearly to us, and gave us a detailed estimate. their prices are fair and we felt comfortable with them, so we hired them to do the job. they were here two and a half days, and they worked hard the whole time. again, they were courteous and respectful the whole time they were in our home. the new circuit in the garage required running wires all the way across the house, which resulted in a bit of drywall damage, but it will be fairly easy to fix. besides that we are very happy with the work. we love the new outlets in the garage and kitchen and as far as we can tell (not being electricians ourselves) everything was done well. they showed us and described their work whenever possible. i would not hesitate to hire mighty bee again.

The services overall were explained in the previous paragraph. Basically will definitely use them again. Also forgot to mention that Martin (the owner, I believe) was especially courteous on the phone when I had some questions.
Description of Work: The electricians came out to do an inspection and found several serious things wrong. Both Don and his assistant, Christian, were professional and efficient throughout this process, which took several days! They not only fixed what I originally knew was wrong, but were able to smooth out some previous electrical problems we'd been having. Team arrived on time and explained how they do the whole house outlet check We walked through the whole house and together as they checked all the outlets, took notes on concerns, and explained everything to me. They also looked at some of the other possible projects I asked about for a bid. They wrote everything up very clearly and explained their discount policy. When I discovered a problem with one of the outlets they checked, they very professionally arranged to come back out on a Saturday (usually closed on Saturdays) and fix it. Don came out as arranged and handled the repair promptly and courteously. He then went ahead and did some of the work, on the spot, that he had recommended for my kitchen outlets. A very positive experience, all the way around! Their prices are a bit higher than other bids I have received but I will consider using them for some of our bigger jobs due to their wonderful service!
Description of Work: I had a very good experience with this company! They came out for the "deal" (whole house check)and were very thorough. They were pleasant and polite and professional and explained things very well. I then found that I had a problem with one of the outlets they had examined. When I called, they came back out, even on a Saturday (when they are usually closed). Don fixed the outlet and then went ahead and did some of the work he had recommended since he was already there! It took no time at all and I was glad to get the work done in such a timely manner-even on a Saturday! The prices seem a bit high (I have a lower bid on some of the work they recommended from another very reputable company we have used in the past) but I will still consider using Mighty Bee due to the excellent and very pleasant service we received from them.

Excellent experience! Don showed up promptly at 8:30am. Because of our schedule and their appts later in the week, we needed the repairs completed in the same day and could only do it on the Tuesday selected. He and his apprentice left once to get a part, but otherwise worked straight through to 7:00 pm until the job was done. They were very professional, courteous and hard working. They even gave us another 10% off of the other services they performed which were outside of the Angie's list panel upgrade coupon, just for being an Angie's list customer! This was the first step towards a large remodel in our house, and they really started us off right. I would definitely recommend them and use them again in the future.

He was very thorough in the work and electrical testing he performed in the house and the electrical panel. We had a photovoltaic solar array installed on the house two years ago and he checked to make sure the connections were correct in the panel and not causing any problems. Overall, I was very satisfied with the quality and thoroughness of the inspection.
Description of Work: Martin from MightyBee Electric arrived within the time period which was given at appointment setup. He explained what he was going to do and then he started with the electrical panel. He pulled the face plate from the breaker panel and checked the tightness of all of the connections with the electrical breakers. He noted some problems with the ground bus on the panel and made notes of this. Next, we moved into the house and he tested every electrical outlet he could find for correct wiring and ground. This included testing all of the GFI circuits. We have some old fluorescent bulb fixtures in the basement which need to be replaced and we discussed what to do with those. We also have an antiquated smoke detector which caught his attention. He didn't like the way the house ground was attached to the water plumbing, so he took some time and fixed that without any additional charge. When he was finished with the inspection he wrote his notes and discussed everything with me. He is going to e-mail a bid for all of the work which needs to be done.

My home had a lot of electrical issues. Martin Black was very thorough in trying to resolve all of the electrical problems. When he replaced the electrical panel outside our home, he also addressed problems with an old federal pacific panel that was located in the basement. The home we bought was a "fix and flip" and the people who sold it to us did shoddy electrical work. The "flippers" had rewired half of the basement to the outdated and dangerous federal pacific panel and half of our outlets didn't work in the basement. Martin fixed the problem. He rewired the basement outlets to the main electrical panel, shut off all electricity running to the federal pacific panel, and covered the federal pacific panel. He also did a perfectly fine job replacing a couple outside lights as well as some canned lights in the living room. We used an Angie's List coupon for the electrical panel, and it made the cost of the job SIGNIFICANTLY less expensive than other companies. I think we saved, at minimum, $1,000. The cost of replacing the canned lights in my living rooom seemed a little high, about $400, but they look good and I'm happy with the work. I would definitely call MightyBee again.
Description of Work: MightyBee replaced our entire electrical panel, raised the main line, replaced a couple outside lights, and replaced some canned lighting in my living room.

The work went very well and Don was very thorough in making sure that everything met our expectations. We would highly recommend this company to anyone needing electrical services. In response to "Provider Response", we were a little frustrated with not being contacted when we requested service. We understand vehicles (and worker's backs...) can break down at times, we would like to have been called. Once we were finally contacted, we have been happy with the service we received.
Description of Work: We recently purchased a house and needed some additional electrical sockets, light switches, cable TV lines run and ceiling fans moved. Don came in and listened as we told him what we needed done. He gave us an estimate of the cost and the work was begun. The work ended up taking more than one day, and he brought an apprentice with him on the second day to make sure the work was completed. Don started by running cable TV through our crawl space and unfinished basement into the living room. He installed a cable TV switch and verified the cable was working properly. He installed two electrical sockets in an unfinished basement. He then moved a fan from the dining room to the living room. He then installed two light chandeliers and verified they were at the same height so they "looked right". Finally he installed some three way light switches so that we could have light switches that were more convenient.

Response from MightyBee Electric, LLC
Ahh, another one slips through the cracks somehow. We started our special the 14th of March, and it ended the 21st. Within 3 days of starting one (of my two vans) went down with a head gasket, and the man working for me injured his back so he was out for several days. On my receptionist was out Monday and Tuesday and the phone of course was going crazy because that was just a crazy good deal we put out. We sold a big bunch of those coupons as a result. Then Tuesday I made a "special" service call" all the way to Vail and came back in to Denver and the transmission blew up on my other van! I am certainly sorry we missed this customer, or any for that matter. I am surprised there was not another or so. I have found no one by this name in my notebook so I must ask my reception if this name was on some voicemail(s) or not and why they did not return the call. My apologies are certainly in order, and I must accept the responsibility.
