M. Carroll Blacktop Services

Received a flyer in our mailbox about Matt Carroll Paving being in our area. One specialty was using lower priced asphalt millings mixed with gravel. We paid 12K to have our lengthy driveway surfaced with the stuff. They used water to wet the surface of the mix (laid cold) and then rolled it out smooth. Looked great until it looked like it was deteriorating within a few days. I called Carroll back and his crew came back and laid a second layer on the first and again rolled it out and even putting a "sealer", I suspect being nothing more than diesel fuel, on it. I received a call from an acquaintance who had also called Carroll about his driveway. I told him it looked good at the time but I had no clue how it would hold up. But Carroll's business was rated A+ by the BBB and he guaranteed his work for a year. He bought in, too. As the months progressed it was obvious the work was not holding up, my drive becoming "wash-board", and appearing to be nothing more than road base and gravel. My acquaintance and I made numerous attempts to contact Carroll by email, phone and even through an attorney letter. Absolutely no response. Carrol has a flashy new website but he no longer claims an A+ rating with the BBB. Also, now we specializes in chip seal and does not mention any work using milled asphalt. He does business in Texas, California and Colorado - Anywhere he can get away with lies, scam folks, then move on.
