We chose Lighthouse because it its beautiful selection of travertine tile, including some unique decorative mosaic patterns which no one else carries. Their granite selection was similarly outstanding, high quality and so beautiful! Although the company did not have a huge selection, the quality of the selection was such that it was hard to choose. Lighthouse kept to the estimate it provided us for the work specified in the contract. However, we liked the stone and the work so much that we kept adding to the project, such as tiling the shower ceiling, wainscoting on the walls, heating the master bath floor, etc. and so we kept increasing the prices of the projects. We upgraded the sinks and toilets, and paid for the faucets , tub and shower enclosures ourselves, as agreed upon beforehand. Even then, Lighthouse's price was less that that of another company that wanted to do the work in ceramic tile, not in natural stone. We paid for the work in increments, initially for the materials and then for the labor as it progressed. Lighthouse's owner took the time to go over every line of each invoice, so we knew exactly what we were paying for every part of each project. This is one of the most honest companies that I have ever dealt with. My one problem with the company is punctuality. Sometimes some of the workers would show up so late that they remained working late into the evening. Nevertheless, the work in the original contract was completed more or less on time, with additional time necessary for the add-ons, plumbing surprises, etc. However, punctuality was not an issue for the granite installers. They really bent over backwards to install the kitchen granite when we needed it. Ditto for the dry wall installer and electrician. The tile installer, while not very punctual, was a master craftsman and perfectionist. We learned later that he created the beautiful bathroom we had admired on a magazine cover. I suppose that the special needs he had, to work when he needed to work, was more than offset by the quality of the work he delivered for the price we paid. Everyone at Lighthouse seemed to take pride in their work and a real interest in our satisfaction with the project outcome. We get so many compliments on our bathrooms and kitchen counters. So many friends who see them want to know who did the work. We really enjoyed getting to know the people at Lighthouse and having them in our lives. If I had any more kitchens or bathrooms to remodel, I would certainly hire them again...
Description of Work: We hired Lighthouse Natural Stone to renovate two bathrooms. We liked them and the work so much that we hired them again for the third bathroom and the granite counter tops for our large kitchen. First, Lighthouse renovated our master bath (a contestant for the "ugliest bathroom" contest). They removed an old Jacuzzi tub, its moldy wooden surroundings, a tall built-in cabinet, sinks, vanity and toilet. They also opened up the room by removing the wall between the vanity and bathroom proper. They constructed a large shower base and 8 foot high walls, all in travertine. They constructed a bench in the shower, which we topped with granite. Adjacent to the shower is a granite-covered counter which we use to display artwork. The expert tile installer designed a box, set into the wall, to hold items for the shower. and a band of decorative "mini-cork" travertine tile was placed at eye level all around the shower. Lighthouse installed the shower fixtures and drains; there had been prior problems with drainage which Lightouse was able to resolve. Later, we hired a glass company to design and construct a European-style glass enclosure for the shower. Lighthouse then put the same travertine tile part way up the walls and finished it at the top and corners. They installed a heating system in the floor and then tiled over it. They replaced the toilet and installed sinks and faucets into a new vanity. They custom cut an exquisite piece of granite for the counter top. Lighthouse did all of the plumbing. They hired (and paid for) a very good drywall installer to finish the walls; we then hired him to paint the walls. Lighthouse also hired and paid for an electrician to install the electrical components of the heated floor and the light fixture. At the same time, we had Lighthouse remodel a small, poorly designed, leaky downstairs bathroom into a beautiful, functional one. They moved the toilet into a corner, which entailed breaking through a concrete floor. The hole revealed not one pipe, but six pipes and a gas line. Lighthouse paid for a plumber to sort out that situation so that the toilet could be installed (for an agreed- upon in advance extra charge, should such a problem arise). Lighthouse also opened up the shower area, tiled the ceiling, tiled part way up the walls and the floor, and installed the new vanity, leather finish granite counter top, vessel sink, and faucet. A rectangular, framed stone design was worked into the shower wall. A few months later, we hired Lighthouse again to remodel the remaining bathroom in travertine. This involved removing a cast iron tub and replacing it with a more modern one. They also tiled the shower walls to 8 feet in height, inserting a box into the wall and a decorative alabaster-travertine stone mosaic at eye level. Again, a granite slab was installed over a new vanity, the toilet was replaced, and the walls and floors were tiled. Finally, we hired Lighthouse to install the granite counter tops, island, and narrow counter top top on a half wall between the kitchen and dining room. With the remnant remaining, they constructed a table top to match.

We had been looking for a replacement of the old ceramic tile for quite a while. At the Denver Garden and Home show, we found Lighthouse Stone and fell in love with their unique travertine. In July, we went to their showroom to look around and get an estimate on our work. Joe was very helpful and even gave us samples of the travertine tile to take home to make our decision. Later that week, Omer and Anastacio came over to look at the job and give us an estimate. Based on what we wanted done and the tile, they estimated $975. At the time, they did not tell us that the tile was in high demand and it might take months to order it. So, when we had the funds together, we decided to go ahead and get the tile and have it installed (at the end of August). We were told then that they had to ship it from Turkey and it would take about 30 - 45 days for them to receive the tile and they would be in touch when the tile came in. Around October 20th when we had not heard from them, we called to inquire about our tile. Joe and Omer stated the tile would be in in about a week and they would call us. After many phone calls (initiated always by us), the tile was finally in just before Thanksgiving. Now I realize things come up, but I always gave them an extra day or two after they told us they'd call by before calling them - always it was the same greeting - "I was just about to call you!" - it got to be very frustrating! We went to the showroom to pay for our tile and schedule the installation, however our paperwork was nowhere to be found. We were told not to worry about it, that they trusted what we told them our original estimate was, and they would get their installer out in the next week or so. Finally, around the 2nd week of December, our tile was completed! Anastacio did a great job and we love our new fireplace - it looks so unique and sophisticated....we have definitely increased the value of our home! The grouting doesn't seem very even - some areas where it was heavy and others where there is none...but overall, it really looks great!
Description of Work: We had ceramic tile removed from our fireplace and travertine tile installed.
