Humble Roots Hardwood

Absolutely fantastic. Seth and William & crew exceeded all expectations. In conjunction with a kitchen remodel, my wife and I decided to get the hardwood floors refinished. It had been 22 years since initial install and they had taken quite a beating. Also, the original stain/urethane finish had yellowed significantly. We have approximately 2000 square feet, so we were looking at a huge undertaking. Humble Roots was one of two contractors we considered, both came well recommended from our designer. Seth put together the proposal, and it was clear from the start that he would do everything in his power to do a top notch job. He provided multiple options for stain, offered a veneer for the stair risers to avoid complex sanding issues associated with tight corners, and sold us on flush mounted vent covers to match the flooring. The stain option we selected was a Pallman product that was a stain/hardener combination vs stain/urethane. The finish was less glossy and the colors were very rich. The cost was the same. It turned out to be the right choice. The floors are the highlight of the remodel. As far as service was concerned, it was exceptional. Seth coordinated with the general contractor and the cabinet delivery to do the interlacing of new wood flooring planks to account for a new floor pattern. He scheduled this work on a non-interference basis(weekend). Then, William followed up with detail sanding and staining of the floors in the vicinity of the cabinets to avoid issues with getting stain on the new cabinets when the bigger floor job was completed as well having to work around appliances after installation. When it was time for the big sanding/relishing job, William and his crew were very flexible in working around some delays caused by cabinet delivery issues. The whole project took about 2 weeks. William kept us continuously up to date on status, gave us a great overview of the entire process, and had us inspect the various phases to make sure any concerns were addressed. When the job was complete, we did a complete walkthrough to identify any touch ups. He and his crew came in after all the furniture was put back in and completed all the touch ups and gave us a great lesson on the floor care. Seth did an outstanding job on the stair riser veneer. The cuts and the stain matching the treads were perfect. We expected the sanding to be a HUGE mess, but the “Dustless” (vacuum sander) system only left a light film everywhere that was easier than expected to clean up. They were a true pleasure to work with, very professional. The cost is hard to compare to others, since we had some wood mods to the kitchen floor. The whole job, including the floor mods and flush mounted vents (4 units) cost about $5.50 a square foot. The estimate from the other contractor came in about the same, after the add-ons for floor mods and vents. There was NO cost growth on the job beyond the original estimate. Overall, we are extremely happy with the job. The floors are beautiful, Humble Roots was extremely easy to work with, the quality was high, and the costs we felt were very reasonable.

The service is excellent. They do an absolutely fabulous job. The workers are timely, and they just do great work. Ever since the start, they have been very professional. I feel very confident in the work that is going to be done, and I would certainly recommend them.
