Word of mouth can bring business and it can cause a loss of business. I would never support Homesmart! Recently, I needed to repair my hot water heating system. As a Homesmart customer, I contacted Homesmart to find service for the repair. A Homesmart repair representative came by and said the only problem was a thermostat and he didn't know if Homesmart supported thermostat replacement. I contacted Homesmart to see if I could get a local repair shop to diagnose the problem and was allowed to do so. The result was a major repair of multiple parts of the boiler system. Homesmart requires that the repairs be paid for and then the invoices be submitted for reimbursement. Several weeks after the invoices were submitted, I received a check from Homesmart for about one-third of the expenses for the repairs, with no explanation as to why the total cost ($5,561.86) was not paid. Homesmart has been unresponsive to any inquiries I have made. In fact, I have been unable to reach anyone with Homesmart who can provide any help. Thus, I will not support Homesmart and will alert others to the shortcoming I have been subjected to.

They're a subsidiary of Xcel and they have a staple of contractors and their own employees who come out and fix things when they break. The price is included. It's a monthly charge so there's not a specific charge for any service. I've had them for 25 years. I got well acquainted with a guy on a water heater but that was about 3 years ago. I've seen many of the same workers come.

I subscribe to HomeSmart program thru Xcel Energy. I pay every month which is added onto my UTT bill. There was an incident or I would give them an A. I have them service my furnace every fall. I pay $36 every month and that covers my furnace, air conditioner, washer and dryer and refrigerator. My washing machine was broke and they sent a contractor out. He said it was the ball bearings and it would cost $800 to fix it. They refused to pay for it because it was too much. I didn't see that in the fine print anywhere so that is why I am giving them a B.

They're very good. They will come out if you are having trouble and will not charge anything extra. They work was very professional, very efficient. Of course they do a great job.

Jason provided a full page list of the things he did during the fuel tune up for our furnace, so we know that it continues to run fine. He did not charge for the water heater inspection and provided us with the necessary information regarding how often it will need to be inspected and approximately when the anode rod will need to be replaced. I appreciate that he did not perform any unnecessary work on the water heater. Jason has provided services for our furnace and air conditioning unit in the past, and we have never had any issues and the price has always been reasonable.
Description of Work: Jason inspected and serviced our furnace - a annual requirement to keep it running properly. I also had him look at our water heater and see if it required any servicing. Jason researched the requirements for our particular water heater as well as performing the inspection.

I had my furnace checked and there was a problem with one of the components(furnace was still running) . I called Homesmart and told them about it. They said they can not get it fixed until the furnace stops working....very smart!

It was very easy to set everything up so we didn't have any issues whatsoever getting it set up for a new place out here. We haven't gotten a bill yet. I haven't had any issues yet. They are very good. Everything has turned out as it was supposed to be.

Description of Work: I would not recommend this service. It is 6 pm and it is 2 degrees in Denver. I have no heat nor hot water. Called the repair line and was told there is no one to come out " they are all booked". My number will be passed on to the shift tomorrow. This was after being on hold 15 minutes. The person on the line could have cared less, save your money and use private vendors.

Dear (deleted member name), We did not receive a notification from Angie’s List about your review, so our apologies regarding our late response to your review. Upon researching your case, it appears our weekend paging service took your call on Sunday 1/13 regarding the lack of heat at the residence, and unfortunately this was a 2-degree day (as you noted) in which all of our service partners and in-house technicians were already booked up into the evening with earlier emergency heating calls. Our records show that a tech was dispatched to your residence at 8am the very next morning (Monday 1/14) and the issue was resolved. I apologize on behalf of HomeSmart for not being able to respond to your request on Sunday 1/13, but unfortunately all available resources were booked up. In situations such as this, the call agent should have paged our service manager, who would have called and informed you that since all of HomeSmart’s technicians and service partners were fully booked that day, you would be permitted to find a non-HomeSmart repair company to come out that day to perform the repair and HomeSmart would potentially reimburse you for that service call. I’m sorry that the person you spoke with at our weekend paging service came across in the manner that they did. We have our own in-house call center on Mondays-Fridays who receive ongoing customer service training updates in order to provide our customers with the very best customer service. We value each and every one of our HomeSmart customers, and we try to respond as quickly as we can to all service calls and in the rare instance when we are not able to, we offer the solution that I noted above. We have also updated Angie’s List so that we receive immediate notifications when we receive customer reviews so we can avoid any lags in response times to any potential customer concerns. Home Smart came out looked at my A/C and told me the compressor was bad. They did try to jump start in, but only only run for less than 5 minutes. I made arrangement with them to following Monday to give me an estimate on a new A/C unit and furnace.They gave me three estimates on 3 different systems. These were nicely laid out on a computer generated form with all the prices, discounts, a list of everything that was included. They however there would be additional charge for an Electrician to come out and actually hook up the furnance and A/C. I found that to be alittle strange since they are part of Excel. I did not select this company as they were alittle bit more expensive than the company that I choose and I would had to wait a few extra days for installation. This was all in July when it was extremely hot.

The experience did not go well. When I ran into trouble with their subcontractor, Homesmart was very unresponsive, would not listen to my concerns about what was going wrong with the subcontractor, had their own agenda and was unwilling to see a clear resolution through to my satisfaction. When I called with my concerns, I was not able to finish sentences without being interrupted and pushed through to the agenda the customer service agent wanted to force through without hearing what the problem was. I felt they were trying to get off the phone from the time they took my phone call as quickly as they could. Customer service does not truly take place.
Description of Work: This is an appliance repair warranty company. When it came time to fix and repair a gas range I placed the call. The work is subcontracted out and I as a customer had no input as to who did the repair. The setting up of the appt. with the company, the repair and subsequent phone calls took five weeks

I contracted them for the installation of a new furnace and air conditioner for a home we are remodeling. I was never informed that they outsource the installation work. The firm they used seemed not up for the job. They were uncommunicative with me and the HomeSmart sales rep was not at all helpful leaving me to spend hours trying to get their subcontractor to complete the installation. Some additional duct work is needed and neither HomeSmart nor the subcontractor has any interest in completing the work leaving me with a partially operative system.

Mike came in and gave us an est for 3 different options that we would be looking at. He explained all the products and what would be covered by the warranty. They have a a 10 yr labor and parts warranty which was not available through the other 2 companies we looked at. Mike was very professional, and when we were more serious about using them went ahead and did a detailed analysis of our heat/cooling need and deteremined the size of the A/C that we would need as well as the furnace size. After we contracted with Xcel they came out 4 days later for the install. The company arrived on time and got rid of all the old equipment and installed the new one in under 4 hrs. They did install the A/C and got it running but did not close the windows, even the ones that they had opened to make it easier to take the old equipement out. I had to step out for a little while and when I came back they were done with their work but did not go through any of the operations with me prior to leaving.
Description of Work: We spoke to Michael about getting a new A/C, furnace, and humidifier. Xcel contracted with another company and they came out and installed all of it withing 4 hrs. We had an existing forced air furnace and A/C but they were both from the 70's. We upgraded to a much higher efficiency unit.

EXCELL ENERGY CAME AT THE APPOINTED TIME AND EXPLAINED THE WORK NECESSARY. INSTALLATION WAS COMPLETED EFFICIENTLY AND NEATLY. FOLLOW UP FOR INSPECTION AND SERVICE WAS COMPLETED AS PROMISED. THEY WERE A ONE STOP SHOP.
Description of Work: REPLACED WATER HEATER AND REMOVED OLD UNIT. INSTALLED NEW UNIT, CHECKED FOR PROPER OPERATION AND LOWERED DOOR INSPECTION.
