I could not get a direct line to anybody. I kept having to tell my story over and over and over to the customer service line. Once I got to the right person with whom to speak, things went smoothly, but all of my free time and my husbands was spent trying to get the right person on the line to solve our problems.

2-10 Home Warranty gave me different information every time I spoke to someone. Several employees were rude. But, most importantly they do not stand behind the promises they make. I made my first claim concerning a dryer that was not working correctly. They had to contact two companies before they could get one to respond and come to my home. After charging me the 75.00, the dryer was still not working. Each step took several days to process. I spoke to an agent, I wrote down her name and extension. We went over everything covered and not covered by the warranty. She stated my problem was covered and that there would not be another fee. Yet, today after the paperwork has been completed and reviewed my problem is not covered. I asked them to review the call since it was recorded. I was told they will look into it but even if I was told it was covered they would not do anything about it.

Later that day the plumber called and said that he had received authorization for the heater, and I d be hearing from Home Buyers about the wall. No call came. I called and was told by another rep that they wouldn't t cover it. Had to argue to speak to a supervisor, finally turned over to a manager, Candice Boyd, who quoted line E16 from the warranty, "You are responsible for additional charges to remove or install non-related equipment in order to make repairs." She said that it was "in black and white," I could check it myself. I did; it states that, but it also states on line E6, which Ms. Boyd conveniently overlooked, "When it is necessary to open walls, floors, or ceilings to perform a covered service, we will restore surfaces to a rough finish only." Called back the next day and was told that Ms. Boyd was busy on the phone, gave Line E6 info to this rep, received another refusal, and have received no further contact.
Description of Work: We have a home warranty policy with this company that runs from 3/27/07 through 3/26/08; purchased at closing through Huff Realty. The hot water heater is not performing properly. On 9/17 I called their service center to report it, the required first step. I informed the rep (Janet) that there was also an access problem-the heater was walled in. She stated that if the heater had to come out, they would have the wall removed, the heater replaced, then put the wall back. She gave me the name of the plumbing company that would be contacting me for the hot water heater check. The plumber came on 9/24 and determined that we needed a new heater, either due to sediment buildup, a faulty internal part, or both, and that he would report this back to Home Buyers. I called them the next day, was on hold for nearly an hour, then disconnected, finally got a rep that told me that now they wouldn't cover the heater, which conflicted with the previous rep's info, and our warranty agreement.

OUR EXPERIENCE WITH THIS COMPANY HAS BEEN TERRIBLE. WE BEGAN HAVING TROUBLE WITH OUR FURNACE IN AUGUST OF 05, AND AFTER THEY HAD DISPATCHED THREE DIFFERENT REPAIR CONTRACTORS OVER A PERIOD OF THE NEXT 10 MONTHS WITHOUT THE PROBLEM BEING FIXED, THEY FINALLY AGREED THAT WE COULD FIND OUR OWN REPAIRMAN AND BE REIMBURSED FOR OUR COST. WE DID AND GOT THE JOB DONE - AND NOW THEY DON'T WANT TO PAY FOR ANY PORTION OF THE FIX BECAUSE THEY SAY THE TYPE OF THERMOSTAT THAT WAS REPLACED IS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. OUR WARRANTY IS NOW EXPIRED, AND THEY NOW REFUSE TO COMMUNICATE WITH US ABOUT THIS.
Description of Work: THIS SERVICE IS A HOME WARRANTY PROVIDER. THE WARRANTY SERVICE AGREEMENT PORTION EXPLAINING COVERAGE FOR HEATING SYSTEM LISTS SPECIFIC ITEMS COVERED AND ITEMS NOT COVERED. NO MENTION IS MADE OF THERMOSTATS BEING SPECIFICALLY COVERED OR NOT COVERED ALTHOUGH THERE ARE MANY OTHER INDIVIDUAL PARTS ITEMS LISTED AS BEING EXCLUDED FROM COVERAGE. WE HAD TO HAVE OUR THERMOSTAT REPLACED FOR A COST OF $310, AND THE WARRANTY COMPANY REFUSES TO REIMBURSE US BECAUSE THEY ARE NOW SAYING THAT THEY DO NOT COVER CERTAIN TYPES OF THERMOSTAT REPLACEMENT. THEY KNEW PRIOR TO OUR HAVING THE THERMOSTAT REPLACED THAT WAS WHAT THE REPAIRMAN SUSPECTED, AND THEY NEVER SAID A WORD UNTIL AFTER THE REPAIR HAD BEEN MADE ABOUT CERTAIN TYPES OF THERMOSTAT NOT BEING COVERED.
