I am disputing the complete amount of the charges for your windows and sliding glass door. Your windows and patio door were not made to fit my home. My home was modified to fit your windows. 1.) The windows and door were not measured properly, there is an inch of space on the top and bottom and on the sides. 2.) The windows and door were not installed properly 3.) My sliding glass door frame area is 2 X 4. The door you installed has a 2 X 6 frame. 4.) I told Don, the installer, I did not want the door installed as it was too large. He said he had to install it. 5.) My tile and carpet had to be cut back, and the molding was cut and modified to fit the door. 6.) Due to the modifications, my blinds will no longer fit as they were hung inside the door frame. 7.) When Paul, with Gravina's was doing the measurements on 4/24/14 I told him that special arrangements had been made with our HOA so the siding frames could be removed by your company before installation and then replaced afterwards by the siding company hired by the HOA. This would allow the windows to be made as large as possible and assure having a tight fit. 8.) On 5/29/14 when the installation began I called your office, asked for you and was told you were out. I left a message with Lori for you. Nick got on the phone I told him I was not happy with the windows and door. He asked to talk with Don, the installer. Nick did not talk with me or even ask why I was upset. 9.) On 5/30/14 at 4 PM I sent an email to you and quot;I am very unhappy with the windows and sliding glass door that was installed yesterday. I called your office while the installers were here and left a message for you. I was hoping that you would call back today. I will be contacting Key Bank today to put a stop payment on my credit card for the $4,500.00 charged yesterday. 10.) On Monday 6/2/14 at 4 PM LG left a voicemail...and quot;I don't have an email form you and what you did with your credit card is a felony to bounce your credit card on me like that. I could claim triple damages. So you can play this any way you want to, but we need to get this resolved immediately! Call me it's 4:05 now I'm leaving at 4:15. 11.) On Tuesday, 6/3/14 L G called at 2 PM and said Paul would be at my home on Wed at 1 PM. I asked him why he didn't tell me that triple pane windows were heavier and the frames might be larger. He said and quot;of course they're larger, that's just common senseand quot; (I didn't know that and think he should have told me) While L G was on the phone I forwarded my email sent to him on 5/30/14. He said he received it. 12.) Paul and Nick arrived on 6/4/14, they were confrontational and argumentative. Bill Tansey was here when they arrived and confirmed that, as he was also here on 4/24/14 when Paul did the measurements, that he had heard me tell Paul about the siding removal and my request to make my windows as large as possible. Paul had tried to dispute this. Paul and Nick did not even try to resolve my issues. There was no resolution to my complaints As they were about to leave Nick handed me an intent to lien I asked Nick why he never talked with me when I called during the installation or nobody called me afterwards. Nick said and quot;Don said you were complaining...but not really COMPLAININGand quot; Prior to installation 13.) 4/26/14 I sent an email to you which said: Please cancel the Seebrook slider and let me know what other options I have. I talked with Keith today and he said the Amerimax slider you installed for him fits without having to do any modifications. I do not want to do modifications so please cancel the Seebrook slider and let me know what other options I haveand quot; 14.) On 4/29/14 you left a voicemail saying and quot;Guess what? You're going to get a brass handle on that slide door at no additional charge, so that's what you're getting. I called you right after getting this message and asked about the fit. You said it was only 1/4 and quot; deeper than Keith, my neighbor's door, so it would be fine and I would still be able to use my blinds. You also said and quot;they don't make doors to fit your door area anymore. However, The sliding glass door you installed was much larger....6and quot; deep and my blinds no longer fit. 15.) You talked me into upgrading from double pane to triple pane windows and said they were having a 50% discount so it was a great deal. However, you neglected to inform me that the frames would be larger and the windows heavier with the triple pane windows. This is especially upsetting, as you knew I was concerned about the sliding glass door being too wide (or too deep) to fit properly and my not being able to use my blinds any more. In conclusion, I would like to have you remove your windows and door as I do not like the way you do business and want nothing more to do with you or your company. I will arrange to have another company install my windows on the same day. He has now put a lien on my home as of June 24th. Response to Larry Gravina: Last April the siding on my building was being replaced by a painting company who was hired by the HOA. I told them that I was thinking of getting new windows and asked if he could wait to replace my window frame siding until after I got new windows and patio door. He said the installers could remove the old wood frames and he would come back after the installation to replace the new frames. The reason I requested this is because Keith, my neighbor had windows replaced by Gravina's. However, they installed his windows from the inside and without removing the wood window frames . I believe they had to make the windows smaller to do this. I wanted to be sure that they would make my windows and door as large as possible and did not want them to be made smaller for easier installation. (1.) LG has repeatedly said this but never says why in his written responses. He had told me over the phone that this was because our windows are smaller on the inside and larger on the outside and they're called and quot;Aurora windowsand quot;. However, I have had 3 window estimates and had the windows measured by them and none of them have said this. I told Paul and LG emphatically that I wanted my windows as large as possible and that I had made arrangements that the siding frames were to be removed at the time of installation by their installer and then replaced by (information removed) after the installation. My painter was here when I told Paul (their and quot;measure man) this and also when he and Nick returned 6 days after the installation and then handed me the intent to lien. (2.) LG assured me that my patio door would only be 1/4 inch larger that Keith's, my neighbor's door, which was the Amerimax AND that they would not need to cut back my carpet and tile and door frame. (which they did do and now I have to have the door frame remade) I specifically told him I did not want to do that. I also told him that I wanted to be able to use my old blinds as they were fine and I couldn't afford to get new blinds now. (3.) After the installation I checked out double pane vs. triple pane windows on Google and read that triple pane windows are heavier and often the frames are larger. I told LG this on the phone and he said and quot;of course they're heavier, there's more glassand quot; (4.) LG's offer to give my a $1,200 discount does not make sense. I wouldn't buy clothes that were to small for me even at a 70% discount, so why would I want to keep windows that were not made to fit my home? If he were to remake the windows he still refuses to remake the door. THE DOOR IS THE WORST FIT! The siding guy told me that my door frame is 2 X 4, the door Gravina installed is 2 X 6. (LG told me that they no longer make patio doors that would fit my door) The threshold area sticks out over my patio and the frame is so large that there is at least 10% to 15% less glass. There is about 1 and 1/2 inch space at the top of the door. Installing a new wood jamb and casing will not correct the window problem...THE WINDOWS WILL STILL BE TOO SMALL. LG state and quot; The doors are not custom sizes and each manufacturer builds a replacement size to which all heights are 79 1/2 and quot; tall. My patio door is 80 1/2 tall. I had quotes from 3 other window companies, every one of them said they could get a 80 12and quot; door which would fit my home. (5.) LG's three offers are not fair as far as I'm concerned! I do not want to be stuck with a door that was not made to fit my home, they modified my home to fit his door and windows. AND at this time, even if he were to offer to remake everything I would still not want to do business with this man after the way he has treated me! I called their office on Thursday 5/29/14, the day of installation. LG did not return my call until the following Monday when he left a message stating that my stopping payment on my credit card was a felony and that he could collect triple damages and that I need to take care of this IMMEDIATELY! His men came to my home on Wednesday, argued with me about the size of the windows and door, handed me an intent to lien on my home a mere 6 days after the installation but did not even try to resolve anything. The product and and quot;serviceand quot; that I have experienced with Larry Gravina's Company does not give me confidence that they would honor any warranty or correct any possible future problems. I want to have new windows and patio door replaced by a reputable Company at which time I want Larry Gravina to take his windows and door and have nothing more to do with him.
Description of Work: I hired them to install replacement windows and a sliding glass door.

Gravina's was supposed to show up between 11:30 and 12:00 to measure my windows and give me an estimate. I left work in time to be home at 11:30 and waited. At 11:55 I get a call from Rob Gravina saying that he's stopped in traffic. I ask where he is. First he says I25, which would put him far away from my house, but then he corrects himself and says 36. I ask him where on 36 and he tells me. I know that's about 10-15 minutes away even without traffic. So I say I'll see him when he gets here. I wait some more. At 12:15 I try to call him back and get no answer. I look out side and I see a guy in shorts and a bright shirt talking to the guys working on the house across the street. A few minutes later the same guy rings my door bell and introduces himself as Rob Gravina and then says he happens to know the contractor working across the street. Being a bit annoyed at his tardiness I say "So it's more important to talk to him than to me? Rob says "It was only a minute" (it was more like 5). Then he says "You had an attitude on the phone when I called to say I was going to be 5 minutes late, do you want me here?" I point out that he's more like 20 minutes late and that I was told someone would be here between 11:30 and 12:00 (it's now about 12:20). He then says he was told 12 and then says again "Do you want me here". Then he says "You're an a******" and turns around and leaves. Wow. I was flabbergasted. What a rude arrogant way to treat a potential customer. This guy should be fired. I guess being part of the family he won't be and can get away with this type of thing. So if you want to do business with a company that values your time and treats you with respect, avoid this one.

I called to set up an appointment for a quote, the salesman I talked to over the phone, Larry, was friendly and helpful. He set up a time to have someone else come give me a quote. Unfortunately the good experience stopped there. Our appointment was on Thursday at 6pm. He came to my house at 4pm to say he had to cancel because he got some last minute tickets to that nights game. He then said he would give me a call to reschedule anytime that would work for me. I never received a call from him. The entire ordeal of showing up before our appointment all flustered to cancel and then not calling as he said he would on top of it was very unprofessional. It did not give me confidence in them or the work they would do. Needles to say I did not call them back after that experience and we have gone with someone else for replacement windows for our home.

Great service all the way around. The salesman did not try and push us into products we didn't need, and they gave us a fair price. The installation crew was prompt, fast and courteous. I am impressed with the workmanship of the windows and the installation. The installation crew even took an extra moment to clean up to make sure they left the house as they found it.
Description of Work: Brand new windows for the upstairs of our house. We purchased their sound package to help reduce the noise level in our bedrooms and the windows have made a significant difference.

This review will be broken down into six segments: 1. Price: Gravina's quote compared favorably over other competitors per window and per door vs. The Home Depot, Lowe's, and 3 other small businesses in the Denver Metro area. Out of the five businesses we interviewed, they were number 2 of 5 as far as price ranking goes. 2. A. Quality of the Windows: The windows remain of the highest quality. Aluminum siding vs. treated wood trim is a plus over the long run. B. Quality of Work: When we first received our quote, we told Nick that we wanted a quote for all of our windows and doors but that we wanted the work spread out over one year. He gave us a comprehensive quote for everything. Then, we would call him the first of every month to replace the windows. The contractors were able to complete two windows a day with the employees on hand the first Friday of every month not including December, January, and February, and days where it snowed or rained (they would complete the work the next day or the next Friday). 3. Responsiveness/Punctuality: A. Nick Gravina represents a timely individual that caters to his customers time needs well. When I would leave a message, he would call immediately. When I wanted to meet in person, he would give me a time and be there on time. If he could not make it, then on time, he would let me know ahead of time that he would be late. B. His workers are not very punctual. They never arrived at the time--often 1 hour late-- but it didn't bother me because they would finish the window at the end of the day regardless. 4. Professionalism: A. Nick Gravina represents a professional individual that runs a small business well. If you need to talk to him, he will be available; leave a message and he'll get back to you the next day. In addition, he offers professional, competitive quotes for the work you need done. Nick will provide all the details of the work he will complete before he starts any project. He will not come on site once work starts but if you need him, again just call him. B. His workers are not professional at all. They must be told to take their shoes off before they enter your household and told to smoke off the property. They should consider quitting smoking because it slows down their progress. In addition, it's annoying because their work will take at least 2 hours less to complete if they stopped. Once the workers have left, ensure you look at the windows with them and let them know if they screwed up. Each time they came out, I had to tell them to fix the caulking. Nick's workers are terrible at caulking. Nick's workers also smell terrible which is not their fault because they've been working all day; just a personal gripe. Last of all, ensure the workers take the attached stickers off the windows before they leave. It is an extreme hassle to remove those stickers yourself. If you do need to remove the stickers yourself, use some Goo B Gone and you'll be ok. Side Bar: Offer their workers some Coke and water and good food. We took Nick's workers out to lunch at a local Mexican restaurant. They appreciated the effort. In addition, they were happy to help with my gripes on the caulking in return. 5. Overall Work Quality: Overall, great work on the windows. Nick's workers have much to be desired but then again, Nick more than makes up for it. If you don't like something Nick did, be a good diplomat, approach him, and talk to him about it in a professional manner. He's a small business owner and he'll do what needs to be done to address your needs. As a fellow small business owner, don't ever expect a full or partial refund, or any money back at all for that matter, if the work is bad. Just have Nick redo the work. Side Bar: Teach your workers how to properly caulk a window.
Description of Work: Gravina replaced 27 windows and 4 doors over the course of 1 year from May 2012 to May 2013.

PoorI used this company 30 years ago for aluminum siding of my soffit, gable and fascia. They did a great job. I am in the middle of a garage expansion and needed to replace the siding and gutters so I called the company for an estimate. The estimator came out began discussing the EPA requirements for lead paint screening and removal for homes built prior to 1978. This was news to me as I had many contractors working on my home over the past year with and it was never mentioned. He gave me a verbal estimate but never followed up with a written estimate. He contacted me ten days later and I told him I went with a different contractor (one I found on Angie's List). The Angie's list contractor was extremely professional, the price was better and the reviews were great. He asked me who I was using and if they were certified by the EPA. I told him I didn't think so and he said he was going to turn us in. I immediately contacted the Angie's list contractor who said they were certified with the EPA. I felt the Gravina's representative was unprofessional because he behaved like a bully threatening to turn in the Angie's list contractor because I didn't choose him. Plus he didn't even have the professional courtesy to provide me with a written estimate. His customer service skills were essentially non-existent and it makes you wonder what type of job you can expect from this company when the estimator/owner? treats a potential client so poorly.

We have happily used Gravina's before, and Robb Gravina was again very helpful in choosing the new windows and doors, and we are very pleased with the results. Nick Gravina has helped in many ways, recommended 'wrapping' the basement windows (very good idea, would never have occurred to us), helped over the phone when I had trouble re-attaching windows after pulling them out for cleaning, and replaced two full slider window screens with the half screens we had requested. He also noticed an omission on the French doors and has mailed us the parts and offered to stop by and put them on. So, in short - the customer service has been terrific. The installations started on time, and except for some minor issues (a few cleaning problems, and we had to re-attach some screens) went well. Our only point of irritation was with the issue of 'lead containment', which was handled badly. We had the required inspection ($150 extra), and were told by Gravina's inspector that we'd need one containment ($150) and would receive some paperwork in the mail, which never arrived. In brief, over the two installs, they did two containments and charged us for three. We ended up paying for two, a small matter, but at $150 a pop it was irritating, and there should have been better communication. On the whole, however, we have been very happy with the quality of the windows and doors, and the customer service, and we would definitely say that we got value for our money.
Description of Work: We had two sets of windows installed: in May, a 'box bay' window in the kitchen and two new garage windows; in July, 6 windows (three double-hung, one casement and two basement sliders), one Larsen storm door and one set of French doors (fir).

I had issues with the sub-contractors forgetting that they needed to replace the window sills in addition to the windows after they had replaced three of them. After picking up my son from school I walked into the house that was ripe with cigarette smoke. I spoke to the installers who told me that they were smoking outside but didn't take into account that they had removed the window and the smoke was coming in. When they were done the same guy rang the doorbell and when I answered he was standing on the front porch smoking a cigarette wanting me to fill out the completion paperwork. I called Gravina's and left messages but was never contacted about this matter. One of the window sills had a large hole in it that was filled with caulk from the installer trying to cover it up. They denied that it was caulk and said that it was something left over from the manufacturing process, but it was caulk. They ended up replacing that sill. When my wife (9/1/10)and I went to their show room Robb Gravina had us come to his office and guaranteed us that it wouldn't cost more than $2500 to wrap our exterior trim in vinyl siding. The next day when he and one of his guys came back to measure (for the first time) the windows and trim he said that the trim would now have to be $3500. A week or two after we signed the contract for the windows we called and left a message saying that we wanted to go ahead with the trim as well. We never heard back from them about the trim and finally got them to respond after they had finished installing and correcting the windows in February of 2011 the price went up with no explanation to $3710. I signed it and sent it in to get the work started. Robb contacted me my wife and mother-in-law (who paid for the whole thing) the week of March 28, 2011 regarding payment. My wife and mother-in-law were mistaken about me signing the contract for $3700 but when I talked to Robb on the phone and told him I was not telling I wasn't going to pay it but we had a problem with how the price changed two times and that there was other customer service issues he didn't want to listen. He asked me what the other issues were and I started explaining them he told me that I was in the wrong and that if I did want to talk to him amicably he would talk to me. I told him that I was answering his question about the issues and that I would never recommend them to anyone which is when he threatened to put a lien on my house if he didn't get payment and then hung up on me. He had not interest in listening to my issues and just wanted to get his money.

It took over 3 1/2 months to complete the job, barely making the deadline for rebates. Both of the windows were broken in transit to Colorado. The salesman sold me windows that were more expensive than I wanted and claimed the windows were superior in quality - after signing the contract I did further research and the windows were twice as expensive as other companies with same quality windows. I feel you need to know windows and what you want before contacting this company - it is not for people with typical everyday knowledge of windows. I was never able to call and get answers to questions; you had to wait for someone to call back - usually one or two days later.

Went very well. Salesman came, was pleasant, well informed, helpful. Installer was pleasant and efficient. He did a an excellent job. I don't know how he managed to get the old windows out without breaking glass, but he did. When we had some windows installed by a different company there were shards all over, big mess. This man laid nice even grout, He was on tiime, worked quietly (as possible) all day, even vacuumed around the windows and screens, carried away all the debris, then showed me how to work the windows and screens. I am very pleased.

See above - I cancelled the contract after 2 sleepless nights.
Description of Work: The in home estimate increased over 33% by the time I went to the showroom. No changes to the number of windows, panes, gas, etc. I just showed up for my appointment and the price was over 33% higher. The sales person sold me a screen that the manufacturer didn't even make. Several comments were conflicting. The salesman could not explain the advantage of using Krypton gas over Argon but the Krypton has the highest energy rating. Something didn't add up. I think I meant to use the Gravina's on Broadway and Littleton

As I described above this company and their employees did a excellent and professional job. The Windows work perfectly greatly reducing the solar heat in my living room. I testes this a week ago as the temperature in Denver hit 70 degrees. A week after the windows installation Gravinas mailed papers with the windows life time warranty.
Description of Work: I called Gravinas Windows and within 1 day I had Jim Geotis came to my home and gave an expert demonstration on the type of windows he recommended for my SE exposure of my home. He did a demonstration of the excellent properties of their Artic-2 Glass. He showed that the solar heat transmission of the glass was almost totally negated, and the interior heat scape was also reduced. The window frame are vinyl with steel to provide rigidity. I order 3 windows for the living room on February 25, 2009, One technician came to get exact measurements about 3 days later. On March 19, 2009 two technicians came to install the three windows and in about two and half hours did an excellent job.

When Robb Gravina originally measured and estimated the job, he apparently omitted one of the living room windows. When I checked the estimate, I saw four windows, which I thought was correct, not knowing they considered the mullioned dining room window to be two windows. When Steve the installer arrived to do the work, in August, he immediately recognized that there was a problem. The three living room windows are next to each other, and he only had two on the truck. He called the shop, put me on the phone, and I was both confused and frustrated, having a hard time understanding how what looked like a simple job could be mixed up. The installation went fine, but I still needed one window, and it had to match the others already installed. Robb Gravina said he could order one, but I would have to pay the full shipping cost, which was about half the cost of the window, since he didn't have a full order of that brand. I opted to wait until I could get on another order. After waiting months, with a few attempts on my part to get something to happen, I finally decided to pay. Eventually, in February, the last window was installed.
Description of Work: After I replaced all the windows in our house except those set in brick, I hired Gravina to install windows in our living room and dining room. There were three identical windows in the living room and a single six-foot window with a mullion in the dining room.

WE REVIEWED THE TWO CONTRACTS: THE FIRST DATED IN JULY STATES FOUR WINDOWS FOR $1439. THE SECOND ONE DATED IN DECEMBER STATES ONE WINDOW FOR $450. OUR CUSTOMER IS CORRECT – THE WINDOWS IN THE LIVING ROOM, EVEN THOUGH THEY’RE NEXT TO EACH OTHER, ARE CONSIDERED TWO WINDOWS. WE STILL MUST BUILD AND INSTALL 2 WINDOWS AND ARE CHARGED BY OUR MANUFACTURER THAT WAY. WE APOLOGIZE FOR THE MISCOMMUNICATION AND MISUNDERSTANDING AT THE TIME OF ESTIMATING. WE FEEL OUR PRICE WAS VERY COMPETITIVE BOTH TIMES FOR THE SCOPE OF WORK COMPLETED. OVERALL OUR CUSTOMER PAID $1889 FOR 5 WINDOWS INSTALLED. WE HOPE HE IS SATISFIED WITH OUR PRODUCT AND INSTALLATION AND WILL CONSIDER US FOR FUTURE PROJECTS.

The salesperson came out to measure the windows and told me he would e-mail me the next day with an estimate on 3 different types of windows. I never received the quote. He called me about a week later, left a message telling me he had the numbers I wanted on "the wood windows," which is not what I asked for. I was also asked twice if my husband would be making the decision. Absolutely infuriating. When I told the salesperson that I would be paying for the windows and making the decision, apparently he decided I was not serious. I'm all for shopping locally but this was a very frustrating experience.

I went to the showroom first where I scheduled an appointment for a salesman to come out and look. The salesman was timely, knowledgeable, and helpful. He was able to give me an exact figure for the install; no hidden fees such as window disposal or cleanup. Tax was included in the estimate as well. The next week, Gravina contacted me to have someone come out and measure the windows. Like the salesman, he was on time, courteous, and efficient. The actual install took place in one day about 3 weeks after I ordered the windows. I went to work during the installation so didn't observe the work as it happened, but I've been happy with the result. The windows were well-installed. The only issue I've had is with the crew's cleanup. The windows as installed were pretty dirty. I believe most of the debris was from the factory, and the crew was perfectly willing to bring out the razor to scrape it off, but I had to ask them to do it, and they still weren't able to get everything. My bigger concern is that I've been finding dozens of chunks of glass, mostly small, but some as large as an inch across in my house (including the bathtub!) and yard for a week now. This was my first window installation, and I suppose the nature of the work might make it a common problem, but it has still been worrisome. The quality of the install is an "A," at least to my untrained eye. Cleanup was a C-and could drop if I end up cutting my foot.
Description of Work: Gravina's replaced 9 steel casement windows in my 1950s ranch-style house with new custom triple-paned low-e slider windows.

Unlike my neighbor who used a different window company, they took precise measurements both inside & outside so that the windows fit exactly. The two man crew needed 3 days to install - one would remove the old windows & the other do the install, leveling, caulking, sealing, etc. For anyone having their windows replaced, I would advise performing it in the warmer time of year since your house is "wide open" to the great outdoors the entire time. I would also strongly advise against using cheaper windows. Once you go through this once you don't want to do it again.
Description of Work: Had 19 triple pane double hung vinyl windows installed in June 2008 and was very pleased with the results. Hadn't originally planned on triple pane but couldn't turn down the price. Installation was by a private contractor. The windows are very well constructed.

Overall, the procedure went very well, according to the time schedule the salesman told me. It took about 6 weeks from date of contract to installation. The installation took a day and a half. The installers were pleasant and accommodating, as were the fellows who came a few weeks later to fix a few minor details. I am quite pleased with the windows.
