E.C. is extremely professional, and also very pleasant to work with. He was quick responding to our initial request and quick on providing his estimate. He was patient with us when our windows came in late, and worked with me on ideas for construction and finishing. His crew is also great. All work was excellent. I am planning on having him do more work in the near future. I

I hired Garthe Construction to rebuild my bathroom, and E.C. Garthe and his team did a fantastic job! When I initially contacted him, he was pleasant, and he offered to come to my house to give me a free estimate. The first surprise was that he showed up; the second one, that he showed up on time (I've had a lot of experience with contractors.) Two immediate points out of the gate. Mr. Garthe was knowledgeable, thorough, and realistic, and he gave me a quote within a few days. Throughout my two+ month construction, Mr. Garthe communicated well with me about the progress, any necessary changes, and suggestions, etc. He also kept charges to a minimum, especially when there were the inevitable unforseen costs. In addition, each day on the job, he and his team left their work as neat and clean as possible,, showed up in a timely manner, and went about their jobs with terrific humor. That, especially, was a bonus. But perhaps most importantly, I always felt that Mr. Garthe cared about the project, and that was another reason, I believe, why I was so satisfied with my bathroom and working with him. I have since used other contractors that Mr. Garthe has recommended, and frankly, I'm stunned by their quick follow-up, great communication, and quality work. I think it's called "integrity," and in my experience -- and I'm sure in many other homeowners', too -- that is an elusive trait to find in the construction industry. Garthe Construction has it, and I encourage you to give them a try the next time you need a great contractor.
Description of Work: New bathroom installation -- walls, plumbing, electrical, operable skylight.
E.C. and his crew worked most weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. They made an effort to be the least disruptive to our family as possible. E.C. went the extra mile to make sure the project was practical as well as beautiful. Everything was cleaned up at the end and we were able to move in. Payments were made by us as each phase was completed. We signed a contract and paid nothing up front. As each phase was completed and inspected, we received an invoice, which we paid promptly. I would definitely hire Garthe Construction for any other projects I want done.
Description of Work: E.C. Garthe did a beautiful job of finishing our lower level. E.C. proved himself to be reliable and considerate. He came up with a great floor plan and tried to keep the project from “breaking the bank.” Our lower level is small and was roughed in for a toilet and sink only. The laundry area was in the bathroom section. E.C. came up with a plan which allowed us to have a nice shower in the bathroom as well and moved the laundry to a separate area, which works much better for us. The other areas were a bedroom and a family room. E.C. and his small crew did most of the work, with subcontractors doing the electrical, plumbing, drywall finish and painting. Inspections happened on schedule after each phase. This was a complete finish, since the lower level was unfinished. Concrete was removed to layout new ground iron for the bathroom and washing machine. New ground iron was installed and the concrete was replaced. Walls were framed, replacement windows were installed in all rooms. Exhaust ducts for the dryer and bath fans were installed. New heat runs were installed to the family room, bedroom and bathroom. A vanity and toilet were installed. All bathroom fixtures were installed. The existing electrical service was replaced with new 200 amp service. Recessed can lights were installed in the family room and laundry area and an overhead light was installed in the bedroom. Lighting was installed over the vanity in the bathroom. An exhaust fan was installed in the bathroom and a new dryer circuit was installed for the new laundry area. Drywall on the ceiling and new walls was installed and finished. The shower stall was tiled all the way to the ceiling. The bathroom floor and laundry room floor were tiled. Closets were fitted with bi-fold doors. A pocket door separated the en suite bathroom from the bedroom. An entry door was installed into the bedroom from the family room. All walls were primed and painted to our specification and laminate flooring was installed in the bedroom and family room.
