FIREPLACE EMPORIUM

I purchased a fireplace insert from Gail the owner in 2006 through the contractor who built a family room addition onto my house but was very unhappy that it didnt provide any heat. The cost was about $3000. It seemed a real waste to have a gas flame burning that was decorative only and i needed to heat my new addition. I called Gail to explain situation and she came right out, suggested another insert that would provide the heat that I needed for the 368 sq ft addition. It was an expensive mistake but she gave me a $500 credit, took the old insert and told me if i installed a different $3000 insert that i would have the heat that i needed for the room. Well it was installed (incidentally no permit was pulled) and still very little heat was produced. i literally cannot feel the heat if I sit more than 3 feet from the insert. When I called Gail to see if they could do anything to get the heat I was promised she said they could put in a fan but the fan would push too much heat into the room. I told her i would like to have the fan installed and thats when she stopped returning my repeated calls. I finally gave up on Gail and Fireplace Emporium and called an 'A' rated gas fireplace specialist who came out and told me the fireplace she sold me has no room for a fan and so $6000 later Im stuck with this 2nd decorative fireplace with no heat. I have repeatedly called Gail with no response. All I can assume is that Fireplace Emporium is only interested in the sale whether or not it helps or harms the customer!

Overall, it was an ok experience. The installer seemed very knowledgable, and everything has been working well. My complaints are that it was very expensive and that they tried to do the install (which required extending the gas line) without pulling a permit. They made it seem like I was the only customer who wanted to follow the rules and have the work permitted. They even tried to tell me that I needed to pull the permit myself, which was not correct. In the end, they got the permit (and of course charged me for more than what the permit really cost) and installed the gas insert. I am happy with the gas fireplace, so I think it was worth all the hassle in the end.

The two people that came to install it were very good. They said they had to order a plate that goes around the fireplace. It was a special order. It took them a long time to get it. When it came they had a different person come out who actually damaged the fireplace. The person who came out the second time was not so good.

COMPANY HELPED WITH CHOICE OF FIREPLACES THAT WOULD WORK IN SPACE AND CAME TO INSTALL FIREPLACE. SOME PROBLEM INITIALLY WITH COMPANY MEETING US AT THE RIGHT HOME, FIREPLACE INSTALLED IN RENTAL. OVERALL EXPERIENCE GOOD.
