FedEx claimed to have delivered the package on December 4th, however, the recipient was home all day with his two dogs and the doorbell never rang. When I asked them to start an investigation, they dispatched the driver to the recipient's home to "look around" and see if he could "see" the package he supposedly delivered a week earlier. When they finally admitted the package was lost, I made a claim. After being under investigation for 2 weeks, I got a notice via U.S. Mail that the claim was denied because their records indicated the package had been delivered. During this entire process, FedEx could not have been less responsive. They didn't proactively contact me with progress reports, sent correspondence to the wrong e:Mail address when I requested forms/documentation, and the agents' attitudes were lackadaisical at best. Instead of even making a pro forma investigation into the matter, they put the person who most likely to have made this mistake (the driver) in charge. For a multinational company, it seems odd that their company policy reflects the idea that one of their employees couldn't possibly have made a mistake, so the customer is simply out of luck. Luckily for our niece, we had the wherewithal to rebut her Christmas presents and send them via UPS (which arrived just fine). If that had not been the case, she would have been out of luck, and FedEx apparently could not have cared less. From now on, all our shipping will be done via UPS.
