Terrible experience and I would warn people not to use this company, call the BBB to check on them and be wary of personal attacks if the staff doesn't like you, via email.
Description of Work: Terrible Company. PLEASE CONSIDER CAREFULLY before using and check the BBB website. I went through a website to get quotes for a move, prior to joining Angie's List. Father and Son Moving & Storage were one that responded. I had to let all the calls go to voicemail at first, then started answering after I researched companies that called or emailed. First, the BBB has a red alert warning on their site about this company, Father & Son Moving & Storage - Denver, that they are no longer in business. Other online reviews are pretty bad, so I decided not to go with them, but the guy, Scott, kept calling me. So I answered and just politely told him about the BBB thing and he told me "well, that's not exactly correct, we';re not registered with the BBB" and I told him, no, it wasn't that, it was a red alert warning. He kept insisting it wasn't quite correct, whatever that meant, so I said, it makes me nervous so I'll be using another company, but thank you. He kept trying to push, but I eased him off the phone. Next day I get several calls from the same number. Ignored them. Got another call this morning, so I answered. Him again and he starts his same "we'd like to be your movers and give you a quote thing" again and I reminded him that I already spoke to him. He said no, I didn't (I think I know who I spoke to) and he said I was confused and probably responded to many quotes (that is flat out rude). He asked me his name (as if I had to prove something) and I told him and he then seemed confused and said he didn't have any notes about speaking to me. I reminded him about the BBB warning etc that we spoke about 2 days ago and then (I guess he remembered me), he got very loud and agitated, telling me that the BBB wasn't quite right and that they are a different company, but sometimes use this name (very confusing) and I kept trying to get a word in to tell him that I just don't want to use him company. He then started yelling something and I hung up on him. THAT wasn't the end of it though. He promptly emails me and tells me off for being rude, that he was just doing his job and didn't deserve to be hung up on. I fired back a pretty scathing response and blocked their phone & email, but I also cc'd every other company member I could find. If this is their level of service and professionalism (and shady name thing and BBB alert), then I'm truly scared for anyone using them for a move (in addition to the terrible reviews elsewhere online). Now it just frightens me that they have my current and new address.

Do not use this company. The name is Father and Son Moving and they have some local companies that work for them DBA. It has been recommended that I use Angie's List as a reference. I hope that is true. Thanks-I am in the Denver metro area. Their customer service is located in Ft Lauderdale Florida. You will not know that unless you specifically ask.
Description of Work: They are a moving company. It was a local move. It was an elderly couple; one terminal. They were 30 minutes early-fine. There were three movers as agreed upon. They were lazy-milking the clock. Family members packed and worked harder than hired movers. Wrapped items as agreed upon, Antique china cabinet shattered; customer service after the job ineffective. Hired individuals did not do the job as a reliable company doing the job that they were hired to do. They did not put beds together upon delivery of new residence and did not move furniture where it needed to be placed. Customer Service does not seem to be an issue for the company. Definitely recommend the company not be used by anyone. Shouldn't we have a time to inspect and approve the move? Bottom line is the company did the job, but not well. The impression received with followup is that the owners do not care and are teaching the representatives caring does not make a difference. The overall impression is that the job is done even though not well and dealing with followup is simply an issue that is blown off. There was a discount offered and it brings the old ideal affective. You get what you pay for. We are all alive and well but sure got taken advantage of. We are a family of Business owners and ever so appreciate our beliefs of Customer Service. Good luck to this company-never recommend them. If it had been a fluke the customer service and ownership would have been responsive. They were not. Followup correspondence indicated I was inturrupting them. My bad to not check them out on your list even though I find they are not there. I hope you, Angie's list are worth my investment. We will probably end up paying for the repair of the cabinet. I guess that should not be a surprise.

The contracted service was not performed. They were rude to me when I was trying to get an explaination as to why my move was not happening. I needed to be out of my apartment that day and because of them I have had to pay six more days of rent.
Description of Work: I contracted with Father and Son Moving and Storage in April to move my small apartment from Colorado Springs to Leadville. I was required to put down a $100 deposit. In April we agreed the move would be on July 1, 2011 and they would be there at 8am. The day before the move they called me to say that instead of being there at 8am they would be there between noon and 1. By 12:15 I had not received a phone call and I started calling them. This is when the excuses started. Over the next six hours I was told: it was the busiest moving day of the year, the first move was taking longer then expected, they only had 2 trucks for Colorado Springs, one of the trucks had been in a wreck and one of the crew had been bit by a dog and required stitches. Throughout the afternoon I never once received a phone call from them, I was the one making all the contact. They continued to reassure me that they would be there to move me from Colorado Springs to Leadville that day. At 8:20pm I called them one last time and was told that they would not be coming to move me and I would need to reschedule. When I asked if we could reschedule for the next day they told me that the next day was busier then today and the earliest they could get me in would be July 6. I have continued to call and email and they will not respond.

I did not have a good experience with the administrative offices of Father & Sons Moving. The week of my move I called for a quote and the representative was able to beat my other quotes. He also took an additional 5% of the hourly fee since all I needed was someone to unload a trailer and put the stuff in my garage or apartment. On the day of the move I didn't have the exact numbers we had agreed on with me so I signed the paperwork figuring it was accurate. After the move was complete and the movers had left, I realized I was overcharged compared to the price the representative quoted. I called the administrative offices three times and each time was told I signed the contract and so that was the price - even though I had been quoted a lower price. Each time I called, the person said they would look into it for me and get back to me -- this never happened so I gave up. The movers themselves were fantastic and quick which is why they received high ratings above. However, do to the problems with the administrative offices I will NEVER use this company again and will have to look elsewhere for my upcoming move.
Description of Work: This company moved my belongings from a trailer into my garage/apartment.

We did not have a good experience. We called and got an estimate. They wanted us to put down a $100 deposit which later I found out that most movers DO NOT require any money down. When we called to cancel (the following day) they became very agitated that we actually wanted our deposit back. After 5 mins of going back and forth the guy said he would have to put his manager on the phone. This guy was even worse. I couldn't believe I was having to sit there and argue with someone to get my deposit back when they hadn't done any work and it was the day after I reserved them. After further arguing he finally said he would refund our money in a rude tone. I highly recommend steering clear and finding a better mover- one who doesn't want your money ahead of time.
Description of Work: We called to get an estimate from them.

Being seasoned movers, we received three estimates. Father and Son was lowest; they were flexible about scheduling and understanding about weather delays. Movers arrived shortly after scheduled time and worked at a moderate pace. They did not take all pieces in the first load, which took nine hours. The movers urged us to let them go back for a second load, but we declined. Upon payment we were told that we were also required to pay a travel, fuel, and overtime charges. Some damage to doors, walls, and furniture was sustained during the move. We were assured that they would honor a damage claim after the move. When we contacted the Denver office to file a claim, we were told to submit a written request to Florida corporate office for a claims form. We immediately submitted the claim form, completing all info on damage, value, weight, age of pieces damaged, etc. Within a week, we received a form letter of denial, indicating that they were not responsible for any of the damage.

They were an hour late. Then they disappeared for almost an hour (which I had to pay for). I also had to pay for the hour they spent sitting in their truck yakking on the phone while I WALKED to my new home. They wanted me to move the furniture into the house (up 2 flights) because they didn't feel like it. Then around noon they decided they weren't going to finish the job because they wanted to take the afternoon off. I had to be out of my condo, and 2/3's of my possessions were left there. They damaged my furniture. They damaged my house. I had one box marked FRAGILE! THIS SIDE UP! One mover picked it up, read it, turned it upside down and let it drop, then laughed at the shocked expression on my face. Then I had to sign a paper saying everything was in excellent shape and pay them before they'd consent to move anything out of the truck. A horrible experience.
Description of Work: They were hired to move the contents of my condo to my new house. I was told to leave computer equipment unpacked because they would see to wrapping it securely in quilted blankets. When the movers came, they refused to move anything not in a new box, including things like brooms and mops. Instead of wrapping my possessions in quilts, they hauled them into the truck, and then tossed quilts at them. Then they simply decided that they didn't want to finish the job they were hired to do, and they left me in the lurch.

I would never hire these people again and would discourage anyone from hiring them. They do not back up what their employees say and deny any responsibility. I have no problem with the 3 men who did the actual work (they all received a very nice tip from me), but the company is suspect. They may have been in business since 1908 but I wonder how many people have had the same experience as me. They won't be in business long if this practice continues. Scratches on furniture is to be expected during a move but not a computer desk broken before your eyes or a lamp broken in the truck which they are trying to claim I packed. I have filed a claim with their insurance company, filed a complaint with the BBB, and am still trying to resolve this matter. My own homeowners policy won't cover this because of my deductible. Don't hire this company unless you have lots of insurance and want your stuff broken.
Description of Work: I hired Father & Son to move my residence approx. 20 miles one way. Moving out seemed to go well. On the way to the new place, we stopped at my storage and picked up the remaining items, at which time something fell inside the truck, and the movers all ran to the truck. I was not told if anything broke. While unloading at the new place, I was sitting down watching the movers talking with a family member when they dropped and broke my computer desk. They apologized and said it was their fault and not to worry the company would take care of it. Little did I know this would not happen. I filled out the claim form, wrote the required letter, and was told the claim was denied because it was less than their insurance deductible. I now have a broken computer desk in my garage and a lamp shade for a missing and apparently broken lamp from the truck.

They arrived late. They did not work efficiently. One sat in the van while two others brought stuff. They took several attempts to pack things correctly in the van. Had to redo often. They couldn't figure out how to get stuff out the door. Should have been second nature. They worked so slowly that it was dark. They didn't have a light in the van. On the way to the house, they stopped for something to eat! It was so late by the time they got to my new place, I had them unpack everything in the garage to save time, except for the heavy stuff. Many items were broken. The washer and dryer were not properly hooked up or the bed put together correctly. I would never recommend them! When I registered a protest, they were not very helpful, especially the woman on the phone.
Description of Work: I had them move me from a town house to a house. I had everything packed in boxes, and labeled. I don't have a lot of stuff.

Showed up on time, early in fact. Had a three man crew, they worked steadily and had the whole job done in 6 hrs. One minor scratch on banister in new home, they admitted to it and advised how to solve. Never followed up, the scratch was really small.
