DLC Arbor Services is a leading provider of quality tree trimming, tree removal, and other arbor services. We have been in business since 1980 and still going strong. We are highly rated Angies List Tree Services company and are an accredited BBB Business. DLC Arbor is licensed and insured to provide tree services in the Denver metropolitan area. We offer free tree evaluations. Did you know that healthy mature trees increase your property value 5 to 20 percent? Losing a prominent tree at your residence not only diminishes your enjoyment of your landscape but reduces property value. Like cars, trees should be maintained regularly. Trees require seasonal maintenance to protect them from damaging storms and increase the curb appeal of your property. The large ladybugs on our trucks are hard to miss. Maybe you have noticed our trucks in your neighborhood. We service the Denver Metro Area including Evergreen, Castle Rock, Thornton, Aurora and areas in between.

Be wary of hiring DLC. I hired them to trim three elm trees. They left the job site early and missed too much deadwood. They told me if they missed any deadwood, they would come back out, to guarantee the work. However, they tried to get me to pay an additional $630 to come back out, (more than half what they originally charged me to trim trees which I never previously had trimmed). They said they had pictures to prove all the remaining deadwood was new and caused by squirrels - I asked them to produce the pictures and they said they’d get back to me. After waiting a week, I called again, to be told the pictures had been lost. Now they said the owner of the company had been to the job site after his crew left, to verify they had gotten all the deadwood. (If this was true, why wasn’t I told this in the first place?) Next they told me they would only charge $380 to come back out and finish the work, which was supposedly guaranteed in the first place. I asked that the owner contact me so that we can resolve this, so far I have been ignored. If the owner continues to ignore me, I may have to file a complaint with the BBB, which will be a waste of my time, and DLC’s time.

The work was done professionally and according to the schedule they gave me. I only problem was payment. When the job was finished they gave me the option of waiting for a billing and paying by check through the mail. The invoice was supposed to arrive the next week. When it didn't arrive, I called DLC and asked if I could simply mail in the estimated amount. The DLC person said that was okay but said I would receive an invoice anyway. I have yet to receive an invoice. I suppose everything will work out if they don't try to bill me for a larger amount.

The good: the work was done thoroughly and professionally on October 31. Two other big name tree care agencies in Denver refused to even bid this work due to the challenges of working with excel around the power lines. I appreciate that DLC was able to do this work at all, which is why I'm rating them fair. The bad: Bid accepted 6/14 after revision. I was told work would be done in 6-8 weeks due to need to schedule electric line drop with excel 8/24 had heard nothing re: scheduling, communicated with DLC and no one had started the process with Excel. Work and line drop finally scheduled in late September after many more calls to DLC. On the day of work, trimmers arrived and said that project had been mis-bid, did not need line drop, but could not be done until excel trimmed branches around transformer / large electrical line in the alley. However, before this determination was made, I had to make emergency calls and faxes to excel authorizing line drop, which DLC had not planned for. This is challenging for me to do from work. After verbally harassing excel, the alley trimming work was done in mid October and project re-bid without line drop. (Yes, I contacted excel in May, no, they apparently did not follow up) Finally, 10/31 - more than 4 months later - work was completed. This was a very stressful process for me, worrying that branches would come down and take out power supply to my home while waiting for work to be done. However, as noted at the beginning, no one else would bid this work. So I am glad DLC was willing to do this work just wish the process and communication had been smoother. 2 gentlemen who did the work were through, efficient, professional.

I've sent five emails and two Facebook messages to this business asking for the status of the estimate and or work that was never done. I was told on Facebook that they "had no idea" where my emails had ended up, but that someone would call that evening. I've yet to receive a call. Ridiculous and unprofessional communication. I'm now waiting for the business to contact me regarding my outstanding invoice - thinking perhaps that's the only way I'll ever hear from them. Unless you have a lot of time to send emails and the patience of a saint, I'd look elsewhere for tree services.
Description of Work: Trimmed trees around our yard. We asked for a call when they were at the house regarding trimming a lilac bush and were told that was possible. The call was never received - just an emailed invoice of the work they did perform.

Ken and his team were absolutely awesome, this is where this company shined. They showed up on time and did a great job in almost 100 degree heat. They finished the job in approximately five hours which is almost precisely what Ken had estimated after his assessment. The job was of very high quality in my opinion and Ken took the extra time to explain to me why they done what they did which is a very nice touch. The actual service part of this experience could not have gone any better...very impressive. My only misgiving about DLC is that when I called to schedule (after accepting their bid) I was told that they were running about four weeks out and that I would be contacted and scheduled. When I called to inquire on my projects status (after almost five weeks), I was told that when I scheduled they were running 6 to 8 weeks out even though the estimator had indicated a four week turnaround. To DLC's credit, they called me the next day and scheduled me for the following day which was great, they made it right in my mind but the fact that I had to call shows a problem with their scheduling process and management of customer expectations. Frankly, I wonder if I would still be waiting to hear from them if I had not been a squeaky wheel and called. Being in a service industry myself, I know that customer expectations are EVERYTHING and so I feel they need to implement a more responsive system to let customers know what's going on with their project. One phone call to me during the four weeks would have alleviated any dissatisfaction I had with the administrative part of the process. All in all though, I would highly recommend DLC based on the fact that they did a great job at a fair price and ultimately (with a little prodding from me) did it in a reasonable time frame. Kudos to Ken and his team, you and your guys are awesome. Admins you need to get it together, meeting and managing customer expectation is your ONLY job and will hurt you in the future if you don't implement better controls for that part of the business.

DLC provided excellent and safe work from beginning to end. True professionals The linden tree was the most challenging portion of the job. This tree was 65 years old, very tall and spread out. It had two large branches that had been cabled together many years ago so there was the risk of the tree falling as it was being removed. This tree also had significant damage from a wood ****** and recently had become home to a large swarm of bees. Clearly not an easy job. But everything unfolded just as the company had outlined for me. Of most importance to me regarding the work being performed is the level of customer service DLC Arbor provided me. Everyone...from Jason who quoted the job, to Ann in the office, to Joshua the job supervisor and crane operator, to every one of the team members assigned to my job...treated me like I was their only customer. My expectations in every respect were surpassed. This is a company who clearly understands customer service AND who truly values their employees. You can't go wrong with DLC Arbor.

Crew was professional and courteous. They worked quickly and skillfully, protecting the back windows of our house with plywood when they were taking down the 40' Ash. Thoroughly cleaned up our landscaping after they had removed the two trees, and couldn't even tell that the trees had ever been there when there were done. Throughout the work they kept us informed about what they were doing and their progress. Great work and will definitely will use their service again.

The large ponderosa pine tree dominating our front yard had been badly damaged by snowstorms this spring, and we considered pruning as well as removal. After getting bids from 3 companies, we settled on DLC because they were the most professional by far. We decided that after pruning enough to remove damaged limbs, and also remove limbs hanging over our house, we would not have enough tree left to look decent. So we decided on removal. Although it took several emails to get the removal scheduled, the crew arrived promptly as scheduled with a large "cherry picker" machine that allowed limbs to be removed much quicker and much safer than if someone had had to climb the tree to cut limbs. They also had a very large chipper machine that chewed up everything except the largest sections of the main trunk. The operation was very quick and professional, and they cleaned up everything very well. They weren't the cheapest of the three companies we had bid the job, but they were only a little more than the cheapest, and presented us with a detailed contract, excellent machinery, and a very skilled crew. We are very happy we went with DLC and would use them again!

Work done was fine, but the customer/administrative service was awful. When I first received my bid, I asked via email if there was a 10% Senior discount, which I thought I saw on Angie's List. Never received a response. Work was backlogged and was told it would be about 8 weeks and I would be notified when the work would be done. Crew showed up about 8 weeks later without notification. When I received my invoice, I asked again via email about the senior discount, but received no response. Two days after I received the email invoice, I received a phone call asking when I was going to pay. Told the woman I'd just received the bill and was trying to get an answer regarding a senior discount. She said she didn't think they offered that any longer, but would check and get back to me. She never did. I have no fault with the work crew, but the lack of professionalism displayed by the estimator and the office staff makes DLC a company I would not recommend and will discourage people from using if asked.
