DINO TECH

My wife and I bought a 1922 house in the summer of 2007. Our realtor threw in a house warranty with the deal. In any case, the toilet tank was cracked by the time my wife moved in (I was not going to make the move from Oregon for another 4-5 months). She called the house warranty company and they sent out Dino-Tech. Dino-Tech stated that the toilet was cracked (duh that is why we called you). Dino-Tech quoted nearly $700 to replace the toilet. Home warranty company was dragging their feet (to be expected both by the nature of the HW companies). I ended up buying the exact same toilet tank at Lowes for $150 and installing it myself in 30 mins. Here is where the story gets bad. The "service call" from Dino-Tech was billed at $125. With us being responsible for $55 (paid at the time of service), and the home warranty company responsible for $70. 2 years go by, and we are getting hassled by debt-collectors (hired by the bankruptcy attorney handling Dino-Tech's bankruptcy). The home warranty company in fact paid Dino-Tech (about 4 wks after the service was done at our house), but somehow it did not get recorded by Dino-Tech. The only reason I posted this is b/c in trying to deal with all the paperwork straightened out, I found out the Dino-Tech is getting back in business. I would be very wary of hiring them for anything based on the total lack of organization and ability to keep their business running properly (keeping invoices properly dealt with so that customers don't have to get cleared checks printed as proof that they actually got the money).

Not a very professional company. Communication seems to be a struggle for them. I was never called to say that a technician was not going to show up for my appointment. They simply never showed up and told me they were running late when I called them. The end result was pretty frustrating: 2 uneven holes in the ceiling of my basement. I called another company that same day and they were here the next morning and did the repair for a fraction of what Dino Tech quoted me.

WE FELT DINO TECH DID A GOOD JOB OF FIXING OUR RECURRING PROBLEMS WITH OUR TOILET. THEY WERE VERY PROMPT TO OUR EMERGENCY LEAK AND WERE VERY GOOD ABOUT LEAVING THE AREA CLEAN. WE FELT THEIR CHARGE WAS WAY TOO HIGH.
