DAVE'S TREE AND SHRUBS

We hired Dave and Melissa to remove approximately 30 feet of large juniper bushes which had over grown our backyard during the last 17 years. I sent Dave a picture of what we had and he gave me an estimate of $300 to do the work. After they actually saw the shrubs they said that it was a much larger job then what the pictures showed. I told them that I would not hold them to the $300 and if they were willing to take it on we would renegotiate the cost. They spent around 6 hours on removing the bushes and told me that they felt it was worth another $150 which brought the price up to $450 and I agreed. They cleaned up the backyard and loaded their trailer with all the brush that had been cut down. We also had them remove another two large shrubs in our front yard for $125. Total cost of the job came to $575. Total time spent on the job was roughly 7 hours. My wife and I were very pleased with their professionalism, the clean up, attention to detail, promptness, and their over all attitude and skill. We gave them an additional $75 for a job well done and would not hesitate to use them again and/or refer them to others.

He arrived on time and did the job quickly and professionally. He came with his wife and son. They quoted the price on the spot and got right to work and was done in a few hours. He used a chain saw to cut down the trees and shrubs at ground level; this did not include stump removal. They hauled away all the debris in a truck plus trailer and cleaned up including blowing off the driveway.

Spoke with Dave on the 30th when he came over to view the property and give an estimate. He went over each task with me to be sure he understood height and size requirements I was wanting. I felt his estimate was fair and he and his crew showed up at 9:30 the next morning. They worked quickly and efficiently. It was a big job and they had to extend the job to the next day. They showed up again at the time I was told and finished up. They are great at cleaning up all the debris created and everything looks perfect.

My husband & I recently bought a home in which the yard had not been cared for. There were numerous dead trees, some of which were difficult to get to. The live trees were overgrown and their limbs were touching our house along with our neighbors houses. There were also sucker trees all over the yard. It was a big job to clean it up. Dave gave me an estimate and offered to do the work right then. I agreed. He and Melissa worked all day to get our trees and shrubs taken care of. They did a great job! Dave's final invoice matched his estimate. He and Melissa were professional and courteous. We will be calling Dave's Tree and Shrub in the future.

Needed someone to dig out a bed, haul the dirt away, prepare it and line it, go and get 2 yards of planter's mix and put back in prepared bed. All done by hand - total moved about 6 yards of soil in space of about 6 hours. Good attention to task - focused worker

Without ever coming to the work site, Dave provided me an estimate to take down a cottonwood. He stated he looked at the tree from "Google Earth". I asked him, "Are you sure you can get an accurate picture/estimate from that perspective?" He assured me he could, & provided an estimate that was less than all his competition (should've known something was up right then). Well the saying, "Too good to be true..." was never more applicable than the estimate he gave me. He showed-up approximately the time he was supposed to, however he never did call to let me know he was enroute (like we agreed). After arriving, some of his first words to me were, "Man, this tree is a lot bigger than what I thought....." To make a long story short, he could not provide me with the service requested. He stated the tree was too big, even after his "tree-climbing guy/technician" said he could do it. Because of all this, I am now behind all my subsequent scheduling, and have to reschedule my entire timeline I had. NOTHING is worse than having to deal with unprofessionals like this company. And what can you do? Just do some "venting" on Angie's List I guess. My "thanks" to Angie's List for providing me with some great ones in the past, but for your reference and to all others, this company is not one of them. Hire one of the"big boys" if you want something done RIGHT the FIRST TIME. --This is in response to the company's response: As I indicated in my original review, I stated we did NOT utilize this company's services. So, the company trying to say something about that is "pure spin". All I pointed out were the facts, & the facts are the owner of this company gave me an estimate he confirmed was accurate. The real result, was him not providing the service BECAUSE of his so-called accurate estimate not being accurate. He then tries to point out his past work to justify his unprofessionalism in our case. I too can point out to my fellow Angie's List members the following: Look at all MY past posts/reviews on a wide variety of companies. I take the time to give credit to companies who deserve it, as well as not give credit to companies who fall short. The true character of a company is revealed not when they receive praise, but when they receive criticism.

We needed to remove a crabapple and dying pine tree in the front yard. Dave came over to give an estimate to remove the trees, he arrived on time, was very courteous, competitively price, and brought all his gear to get the job done right away. He gave us a written estimate, provided evidence of insurance, and started right away on the job. He did a great job, cut the wood for us to dry and burn when it's ready, and hauled off the branches/excess. Overall, highly recommend, we would definitely use him again.

Dave came by to give us an estimate which was a fair price. I asked when he could come back to remove the trees and he said he could do the removal then. Within a few hours the trees were down and the yard was raked. Excellent job! Would highly recommend Dave.

Dave came over to provide a quote and offered to do the work right away at a very fair price. It took most of the day to trim 15 large shrubs and evergreens that line our yard/fence. We have lived in this house for 12 years and this is the best trim job anyone has done for us! I would highly recommend this team for any of your landscaping needs.

Returned my first call promptly. Failed to follow-up on commit for a detail project walk through visit and a written quote as discussed on phone.

Not only were they the only company out of the many I called who would remove vines from the side of my house, they also far exceeded my expectations. I could not stay while they work so I paid them in advance. When I came home they had done a wonderful job, even removing more than I expected. Everything was cleaned up and all the debris hauled away. Since I paid them upfront, they could have done a sub par job but they didn't. It's nice to know there are still trustworthy people out there doing business. I would definitely use them again.

Dave is the best! I called him on a Sunday afternoon and he not only answered but he came over immediately (he had just finished another job) and did a lot of work on the spot after giving me a written bid. He's now done at least three jobs for me and is the only tree person I will ever call on. Highly recommend.

Everything was fantastic and the price was reasonable . They probably worked for 4 or 5 hours without stopping.

Dave and Melissa called on Wednesday June 27th. They said they would be here Friday Morning to give an estimate and if I liked the estimate, they could begin right away. They arrived as promised, gave the estimate and started work. They were able to get the job done in one day. They worked From 10 am till 4:30. They were friendly and they completely cleaned up after their work.

Came home this evening, the 22nd, to find that no work has been done. Neither he nor his wife has called. The Craftsman spade that he used Monday, however, is missing. I'm not saying he took it. But I'm surprised he didn't at least call. Was it the glasses of water I brought out that offended him? The offer of a cap in the hot sun? The extra $10.?

They did a great job, they did everything we requested and suggested more. They showed up early and finished the job in one day. They gave a reasonable estimate and stuck to it. We were very pleased with the work they did for us.

It went well. I phoned in late morning and they arrived in just 1 and 1/2 hours. They worked hard and got everything done that afternoon.

I phoned Dave about 11:00 am on Saturday. Dave and his wife came over a bit over an hour later and worked for a bit over 3 hours filling their trailer with slash which they hauled off. They returned on Monday and worked another 4 hours and 20 minutes or so completely filling their trailer again. They were both pleasant and hard workers. They accomplished a great deal in cleaning out my back yard at a reasonable cost.

I am on a regular service schedule with Davey Tree Service. They call to setup an appointment when necessary. They always complete my job & more than meet my expectation.

Very happy with them, followed the instructions I had discussed with them and finished around the time they expected. Accidently hit a sprinkler head that was a bit buried next to the sidewalk with the edger, and without prompting told me what had happened instead of either denying it or not telling me. Saved me a bunch of headaches of not knowing.

They are honest and reliable. They do great work and clean up after themselves.

We used to use them. They charged us each time they came. Their services were fine. They were very dependable. We just wanted to go organic this year. I don't really know how to compare their price. They did good work. I would consider using them in the future.

They were very neat and they picked up every little crumb that was left. They did a very nice job and their prices were fair. I have already recommended them to my neighbors. They clean up very well after themselves that no one would know that anything was done which was amazing.

Dave, the owner, and his wife arrived exactly at the time established for an estimate of the work to be performed. I decided at that time if he could do the work then, to have him do so. The work was completed very satisfactorily. The price quoted was very fair and I was impressed with the quality of the work done and with the excellent clean up that was performed. I will definitely use this service again.
