CORY MAUPIN

Cory Maupin was referred to us by our decorator for two jobs - one to provide all flooring (carpet & tile) for my husband's office & replace our wood floors in my house. Marcia White, who is supposedly an owner or family member of the owner, assisted us. The price of the wood, removal, &installation was high, but we expected that and set up installation for November 2007, right after Thanksgiving. Her prices for the tile and carpet were supposedly wholesale, but were very inflated retail prices, so we did not use them for the office. Our wood floor installation day came and went with nobody arriving. We were then told the installation was delayed. I advised that we had extended family coming in for Christmas and to please confirm the work could be done by Christmas else we would wait until after Christmas. She assured us it would be fine. The work began in mid December with a tear out of my existing floors, everything on my first floor was taped, we could not use our kitchen. At that point, it was determined that the installers had the wrong wood, &wood would take about 10 days to get here. I advised her to do everything she could to expedite wood, learned later that wood was here several days before she told me it was and could have been installed earlier. I was pregnant at the time & had a small child - no ability to use kitchen & first floor of house remained taped. Project was not done by Christmas. After it was completed, immediately saw problems with wood and intallation. Could not get Marcia to return calls, then was told wood had to "settle" for at least a few months and then would repair if need be. Professional wood guy came out per Marcia's request and confirmed poor installation & problem with wood in March 2008. Could not get Marcia to do anything, had to threaten legal to get her to respond. Met with her, installer and wood company representative in early May 2008 and was given huge runaround by Marcia. Finally there was an agreement that wood would be replaced, and would be done before my child was born in mid June. All of a sudden there was a "delay" in acquiring wood and therefor no installation could occur until July 2009. It turns out the wood was there all along but Marcia was threatening my interior decorator via email (I have the emails) that she would not release wood until decorator paid her for a portion of Cory Maupin's loss. Delivery date for wood, days before installer was to arrive, and no wood was delivered. We had to threaten legal action again. Marica's behavior was vindictive, nasty, deliberate, unprofessional, and with complete disregard for her customer, the installers (who were scheduled six weeks out). Another rep from Cory Maupin who checked on work after it was done told me she knew how awful Marcia was but that she was family of owner and there was nothing she could do. Still problems with wood, installer & wood rep responded but to date Cory Maupin has not responded to me. Beware!

THE EXPERIENCE WAS GOOD, THEY SOLD ME 57 YARDS OF CARPET FOR MY OFFICE BUILDING AT A VERY REASONABLE PRICE. THE PEOPLE WERE FRIENDLY AND KNOWLEDGEABLE.
