Carpet Mill

CARPET MILL - "BAIT AND SWITCH?"I had wanted for a long time to replace the old wall-wall carpeting but could not afford it. I was delighted to read the Carpet Mill flyer which listed "Stainmaster Carpet on Sale Cut Berber $1.59/sq. ft. Available in two colors. Comapre at $3.49." This included "Free Stainmaster Carpet Installation, Free Carpet Tear-Out and Furniture Moving; and Free Stainmaster 1/2" carpet cushion." I called the store to verify I understood the advertisement correctly, speaking with the store manager, Larry Raymond (very polite), who confirmed the sale and I made it my business to get there, going to the 9840 West Colfax, Lakewood store before the sale ended.I went to the store, credit card in hand, planning to walk out with a date for installation. That is not what happened,. Instead, after seeing the two color choices, chose one and asked for the total price. I was given a much higher, essentially double of what the advertisement stated. I had the advertisement with me and asked the store manager what was I misunderstanding. I was then told that the $1.59 sq. ft. carpeting did not have the free items. I asked why since therre was no asterisk or anything by the price to tell me this was not applicable. Mr. Raymond had no answer. He looked over the advertisement and said he would have his sales manager call me since he didn't see any answer on why he could not give me the advertised price. Since I had gone on a Saturday, I waited until the middle of the next week for the call that never came. I again called the store manager, Larry Raymond, and he said he'd give another call to his sales manager. I then spent the next week going back and forth on voice messages with the sales manager and a Mr. Timothy Hilfer, the General Manager (after I called the headquarters due to lack of response from the sales manager). I was told re-read the advertisement (which I still have) which says this $1.59/sq. ft. ws not applicable for the free items. I have read the advertisement numerous times, had my co-workers go over it in case they could find the disclaimer I was told was there - no one found the so-called discalimer. I see since Carpet Mill's attempt at what appears to have amounted to "BAIT AND SWITCH" that they continue to advertise the free items but not the $1.59 sq ft. cut Berber capeting. Is it that they now realize their error?? But of course, nothing has been done by Carpet Mill to correct this - their only comment repeatedly was to look at the advertisement (which I still have). Since then I have told numerous contacts to avoid Carpet Mill unless they too want to waste time choosing a carpet and then have the advertised price double before them. I hope to eventually replace the worn carpeting, but wil be seeking a reputable company to give my hard earned money to, which sadly does not include Carpet Mill.

We purchased the carpet on 12/14/09 for $1086. We asked about future sales and were told that they would honor any sales until after the new years. We then called around Christmas time and got three different quotes from stores. Every quote was different ranging from $921-$965. We called the store we purchased at and were quoted the $965. We then contacted our sales person and they offered us $12 back. This should have been around $165. They also charged us a $40 disposal fee, yet we told them we would remove all the carpet and pad. We should not have been charged a disposal fee when we disposed of everything. Worst service ever! The general manager we spoke to, Donna, was rude and very unprofessional.
