About us

I generally work within the Capitol Hill, Washington Park and Park Hill neighborhoods. I charge an hourly rate of $50 with an initial, one-time Service Charge of $25.I have a one hour minimum, and then bill by the 1/2 hour. I will do bids for larger projects in person for just the $25 service fee, or for free over the phone. I have been in business at the same address for over 20 years and have many happy customers. My attitude is friendly and professional. I specialize in home repair lists, but offer many other home services including anything from assembly to small building projects.

I got in touch with him through Angie's List. He came over in a couple of days. He is very easy to get in touch with and responds right away. He can fit you in - does jobs hourly. He came over twice. If you make a list, he will get it all done.
Description of Work: Doug did various work: fixed closet doors, which required cutting, rehanging. He put up shelves, installed lights, dimmer switch. He is very helpful. He will tell you if the job is outside his expertise and can recommend a specialist (plumber, electrician). Otherwise, is quite capable of doing handyman jobs.

Doug is very conscientious, honest and a problem solver. He doesn't leave until he's got it done right. If he feels that the project has taken longer than it should have, he will adjust his charges.

Doug came regualrly according to an agreed upon schedule to complete the work, after meeting with a structural engineer we had retained about a roofing problem. (Doug has been taking good care of our 98 year old home for over 15 years. He provides high quality service at a reasonable price. He is very conscientious, reliable, hard working, resourceful and a creative problem solver.) He always tries to come up with the most cost-effective solution, but won?t hesitate to recommend a referral if he feels a project requires a different skill set. In this instance he provided adequate bracing per the recommendations of the engineer, but recommended using a general contractor to complete the final work when the roof is redone.
