BBC Custom Hardwood was selected by our general contractor as a subcontractor to him to refinish our wood flooring in the area of a remodel. The owner came to our house to check out the scope of the job; at that time we told him (several times) that we wanted him to use water-based finish. When it was time to do the work I reviewed the quote and realized that he had specified oil-based finish in the kitchen and one third of the dining room, but water-based in the remainder of the dining room. I emailed the contractor to tell him to change it to all water-based finish and he responded with a $100.00 increase in the quote. I wrote back (to the general contractor) asking if the increase was due to the change in finish material, and how in any case could BBC have proposed to do part of the dining room with oil-based finish and the remainder with water-based. He replied that BBC no longer wanted to do the job. No explanation was offered as to why the original quote specified partly oil-based finish when we clearly said we wanted water-based; or why the price had increased; or whether it was even possible to do the job with two different types of finish; or why BBC suddenly decided to back out of their commitment. As a result we have had to find another flooring contractor which has delayed completion of the project significantly.

replace the carpet, but it all happened so much faster and results are so much better. This is the company you want to refinish your hardwoods. Fantastic job and great service! I've never been so happy with the results of work done at this old house.
Description of Work: I have an old home in Denver, built around 1901. The upstairs had been carpeted for decades. Tenants moved out, and Mark came over to bid to refinish the downstairs (original) hardwood floors, and look at the upstairs. The upstairs floors had been painted, and a previous floor refinisher told me the floors could not be done because they were in terrible shape and soft pine. Mark had a different view. He recognized that the wood upstairs was Heart Pine--which apparently doesn't exist new anymore. Over 3 days, he and his crew pulled and replaced the quarter-round, several worn boards, and sanded/finished the upstairs beautifully. The attention to detail was very high--and I am very picky about this. The house has a whole new look, and I'm so happy to show off the historic value of a type of wood I didn't know about. These guys are fantastic. And the price was very fair--cost about the same to finish the upstairs as it would to
