+ 2 moreWe signed a contract with Andy on June 24, 2014 to do a list of construction projects. The work was supposed to be completed by July 13 2014. The contract stated that the cost of the project would be at an hourly rate or a flat rate of 150 hours whichever was lower. We paid Any $700 more than the flat rate and then we reminded him that he had to finish the project on what we've paid him so far. Andy came out to the house a couple more times and then he stopped responding to our emails and calls. So far we've had a general contractor, a master carpenter and an electrician review Andy's work and they all gave him a grade F. They all said that very little of the work was to code and most of it would have to be redone. They also said that his work was dangerous and could cause fires or someone to fall through the loft he build above the bathroom as he did not use the proper supports and he put the 2x4s on top of plywood so people will assuredly fall through the floor. Andrew Swanson should not be in the construction business. He is trained as a firefighter and is an incompetent contractor.
Description of Work: We hired Andy for Barn Project • Remove pieces of vinyl siding and other attachments. • Power Wash Barn, removing old peeling paint. • Patch up areas with matching wood siding as needed. • Sand needed areas. • Spray paint barn walls red and roof grey • Replace bad trim and then Paint white around windows and doors • Fix the door hinge • Fix windows so they will close • Install back sliding door and put a cap on it Cabin Project BATHROOM • Install a small bathroom 5.5 feet (to window) by 6 feet. • with round toilet and small 36 x 36” corner shower, 36 inch vanity, medicine cabinet and toilet tank shelf • Tile floor with hardibacker KITCHEN • Install new sink unit in the middle of the counter. • Fix baseboard hot water heater unit (Need to order new thermostat). • Install missing drawers • Install Cabinet FLOORS Sand wood floor with rented floor sander. • Re-stain wood floor. • Stain Baseboard around cabinets same color as floor MISC. Fix missing wood in rafters Paint white around door trim Install blinds in all windows. Ceiling Fan Build overhead Loft for another bed with fold down ladder Paint touch ups and one North accent wall Side mounted swamp cooler Tankless hot water heater $200-300
