Abbey Carpet & Tile

This place ROCKS! I am still in shock at how fast and easy my carpet purchase was with Abbey Carpet. I needed to purchase and have carpet installed in my townhouse as soon as possible. The previous tenants had left the carpets in pretty bad condition. The big box stores were telling me they could send their measurement crew out to measure in 2 weeks, then we would order the carpet to be delivered and we would have to set up the install with the installation team, all said we were looking at more then 2 weeks out before installation would be completed :-( ......(heavy sigh). We got in touch with Kevin at Abbey and he invited us to stop by the store to pick out carpet and he promised he could get us taken care of sooner than the 2+ weeks. I have always been a little intimidated by home specialty shops and have preferred the anonymity and getting lost in the sea of customers at the big box stores. So, I was a little nervous as we went into the Abbey showroom but once we met Kevin my fears were calmed. I explained to him what I was looking for and gave him my budget price range and he led us right to the perfect carpet. And it was a such a BARGAIN!! I was so excited! Then he said he could measure the next morning (really!) and after the measurement he called and said they could install the next day!!! Seriously!! The installers were amazing, professional, and very efficient! And it is beautiful!! Great job by a great team!! I could not have hoped for any better experience and I encourage EVERYONE looking for carpet to go see these guys!! They will hook you up...FAST!!!

Overall, it did not go too badly and we now have nice looking carpet on our stairs. At the appointment made for a quote, they did not accept a coupon printed from their website (which did not specify a minimum payment or other restrictions.) Therefore, we will rate the price as "fair." We later scheduled the installation and were pleased about quick availability of an appointment the following Tuesday morning. Received a call on Monday saying that our appointment would be Tuesday afternoon and someone would call before coming. Tuesday morning, installers show up without a call and earlier than expected. They reeked of smoke. On a positive note, the work performed looks nice and professional; the installers definitely have experience doing this. The cleaning afterwards was however subpar; they did not vacuum/sweep at the bottom end of the stairs and left a swept-up pile of dust in the room. Also, a picture fell off the wall of the staircase during installation (installer pointed it out) but I afterwards noticed that the frame had cracked. Had to replace the frame.

We had been thinking about new carpet for quite some time and worrying about the hallway and what we should use there. My husband is in an electric wheelchair and the turns he has to make in the hall were chewing up the carpet. We wanted wood in the hall but knew the finish wouldn't last. Our son suggested we look at tile that looks like wood and Kevin at Abbey Carpet and Tile worked hard with us to find surfaces that would stand up to the wheelchair and showed us a new product that looks just like wood. It has fooled some of our friends. The tile installers worked over 3 days to put it in and we knew ahead of time that we'd have to spend one night at our son's house since we couldn't be on the tile while it dried. The only problem we had with the tile install is that there were a couple of places where the tile was uneven and might have caught a toe so they changed those out before they left. The carpet installers were a hoot and kept us entertained while doing a fine job.
