Our apologies, but you must have been mixed in with the wind storm, repair emergencies that were happening all over the west side of town. We try to help everyone that we possibly can, but obviously we fall short under major circumstances such as this. Your F grade seems a bit harsh, but everyone is entitled to their opinion.

The first job, in all aspects, went terrifically well. Brian, the company owner, came to our house within a couple days for an estimate. Subsequently, he went with us to pick out brick for the columns and the finish for the wrought iron. They scheduled the install for a few weeks later and showed up on time for the install, which went well. There was only one problem where they attached the fence at the wrong place to one pillar, but they came back a corrected this. We are very pleased with the whole fence and have had many compliments from our neighbors. It has added a lot to our property. The second job was also well done and in a timely fashion. Brian went back to California and things have fallen apart on the third job which has now dragged on unfinished for over two months. Corey came out for the estimate quite promptly, but then it took several weeks and several emails and phone calls to get the final estimate. It came in at 25% higher than the range we had been given. When we questioned this, the answer was that some costs had gone up 3%. When we decided it was to costly, the price came back down. We accepted the estimate and paid the invoice; It took over 3 weeks and agaqin multiple requests to get an acknowledgement of the payment. Now, 6 weeks later and many emails asking when the handrail will be installed, we are still waiting. Overall, if Brian is on site overseeing jobs, organization and communication, I would highly recommend the company for responsiveness, quality and price. Now, however, I would not use them again; communication is so poor and I am unwilling to repeatedly have to chase after people to see when the next step might be completed. I even delayed writing this review hoping for a better outcome. Communication is key to good customer relations
Description of Work: The first job was to construct/install a wrought iron fence, with brick pillars, around the front yard. The second job was to replace the 6 foot privacy fence on one section of our back yard and add a 2 foot lattice. The third job was to construct/install a railing for the front steps to match the front yard fence

Initially I was told that the work would be done June 9-10th. When this didn't happen, I called to see why (the company did not call me). I was told that the foreman was injured, which I was sorry to hear. We rescheduled for a time between June 13-25, during which I would be out of town and my dog would be boarded. When I returned June 25th, the metal poles were in place, but no fencing. I boarded my dog another day and the fence was completed June 26.
Description of Work: I needed about 38ft. of aging and rickety split rail fence replaced with chain link fence with gate because I wanted more durability since I now have a dog.

I just paid the final amount due and I couldn't feel worse about giving a company my money. In the beginning they were great, answered questions quickly during the bidding process. We went with Straight Up because they had the cheapest quote, plain and simple. I didn't hear a peep from the company after we paid the deposit. They never coordinated a start time or made an effort to finalize details on the installation of the fence. I finally received a call on the morning they were supposed to start at almost 10am explaining to me that they wouldn't be able to work that day because one of their guys got hurt over the weekend. I had gotten the day off to be there to go over everything with them and asked that they at least come out so we could iron out all the details. Cory the owner apologized and came out that afternoon and we specifically went over what bushes were to be removed, what was supposed to be demoed and hauled away of the old fence, and most importantly, where the new fence was going to start and end. Cory also said that they would be able to start and complete the job the next day because it was such a simple project. The next day the crew showed up after both my wife and I had gone to work. All they were able to accomplish was the demo and haul away of the old fence and putting the posts in. This was the first of many things which Cory committed to and did not deliver on. The next day they started doing the real work of putting pickets up and it was overcast. It started to spit a few snowflakes and the main dude, there were two, said "we gotta get out of here, it's starting to snow!" At this point they had been at the house for three hours. By the time they loaded up the truck and left the sun was shining again. The next day they finished and I knew this because Cory called me to tell me that they had and that there were several things that were "not up to their standards". The gates were swinging inward (a note about this, the leader of the two man crew asked my wife as she was walking into the house with our sick baby how we wanted the gates. Not being an expert on fences and gates she just said "I don't know, inward?" The guy didn't offer any insight as to what the benefits and negatives of each choice were. He simply said, "i'm really good at making gates!") So he mentioned the gates didn't look right and that I would know when i saw them and he offered to reverse them. He also mentioned there were several crooked pickets. When I got home I saw these things and agreed they did look terrible. I also noticed something Cory didn't bring up and that was that his crew started the fence in the wrong spot! I had specifically asked Cory to start the fence well on the inside of where our two frontmost windows on the house are. His crew actually cut into the gate post and pickets so it could groove onto our window sill. They would have to completely redo the front section of the fence! They also completely forgot to remove the bushes that were on the contract. The crew didn't come back until after the weekend and when they did they kept screwing up. I had also asked Cory if he would be able to come to and make sure they did it right. He never showed up and this is when he started to not return my calls. They redid the front part of the fence and they changed the gates but it didn't take long to notice that the big gate on our driveway had a completely loose post and there were metal posts from the old chain link fence sticking out of the ground where the first attempt at our fence ran. I had to call Cory a couple times to get him to come over. He finally did and he brought with him this man named Bruce who looked at the fence with me and flatly said, "well it's not the worst fence I've ever seen but it's not that great either. It's the best I've seen them do though." He was of course referring to the crew who did our fence. Cory walked up at this point and I was ******. I pointed out all the things that were wrong and explained that at this point I didn't feel it was right to charge us the full amount because his own man admitted we got the C-Lister team. Cory didn't empathize at all. He just expressed his frustration that this was the simplest job on their schedule and they f-ed it up. He said they would be back to fix it but not when they would show up. My wife and I came home to find Bruce a few days later working on it. He had to replace over 50 pickets because the C Team had not exercised a hint of quality control in their time with us. He even had to leave to go pick up more pickets. Finally our wobbly gate was fixed. The parts of our old chain link fence were hauled away. Cory ultimately took $600 off the total price leaving me feeling pretty ripped off. I had to fight tooth and nail for that and leave several unreturned messages. We've already had a few friends ask us for a recommendation about who to have build a fence for them and we've only been too glad to tell them to never use Straight Up Fence and we'll continue to do so should anyone ask.

The first day they did not have the right materials so the project could not be finished. The second day they "finished" the project. On Friday when I was able to see the fence in the light I found they put up the wrong type of fence. The fence did not match the old fence or the type of fence required by the HOA, The fence that should have been put up needed 2 2X6 rails they used 3 2x4 rails. They also used the wrong material, the contract was for cedar and they used pine for the rails and slats. In addition, they did not tear down part of the fence that was in the contract. We called the first day of the project and were told yes this was to be replaced as well, it was probably not taken down since they could not finish the project that day, this part is still up and never replaced. We have called 4 times and our calls have not been answered nor has there been a return phone call.

[Member Name Removed], We apologize for the miscommunication within our office. We had a disconnect between our sales team and the work order. We made the mistake of using 2x4 rails instead of 2x6 rails due to the miscommunication. The HOA fences surrounding your unit all have pine pickets, which is not typical either, but we did match the material to what other units had. I would like other people to know that this is not where the story ends, we were in contact with you and have been back to your house and have replaced the rails with the correct materials and have worked with you to correct the situation. I would appreciate if the review was updated as people need to know that we are not a company that would ever leave a customer with a poor product. We strive to do our best on every job and we take the time to make sure each customer gets our full attention from estimate to completion.

I feel like I communicated with a lot of different people, so I didn't really have one go to person. I think having a go to person would have been nice. Some were really responsive and others were not. So sometimes if I would try and get a hold of one person, I would have to call around trying to get a hold of another person who would come back right away.

Everything went really well, from the scheduling to the completion of the fence. All the other fence companies I called either did not return my calls or were scheduled months out. A Straight Up Fence Company was the only company to: 1) return my call promptly, and 2) schedule the job within a reasonable time frame. The scheduler was very friendly and easy to work with, and they even called me when they had another job cancellation and offered to do my job a week earlier than planned, which was great! The workers arrived on time and got to work right away. They worked efficiently and had the new fence and gate installed by the end of the same day. They had to trim back a large juniper tree that was encroaching on the fence, which they did free of charge. They cleaned up after themselves very well. The fence they installed is beautiful and of high quality. We have even had neighbors ask us who did our fence, because the fence looks so nice and they want to use this company too. All in all a very good experience, and I highly recommend A Straight Up Fence Company.
Description of Work: We had about 150 feet of western red cedar fencing replaced in our back yard. They tore out the old fence and disposed of it, dug new fence post holes, and put up an all new western red cedar fence. We also had an old wooden gate removed and replaced.

Brian was very punctual in returning my call. Set up appt. and actually was early! Discussed plans for a custom 10' gate with black powder coated framework. Wanted something that would last forever and look stylish. Also needed 2 other new wood gates and fencing. Arrived on time with materials and crew. 1 day to rip out and set new posts, next day and a half to install 2 wood gates and new 10' gate with 5' of fencing on each side. Project came out superb! I'm a machinist, so paying attention to the small details in important to me, I wanted it as close to perfect as possible and it is. Very happy with results.

A Straight Up Fence Co. just installed an 8-foot range fence and gate in our back yard. Having to deal with slopes and angles, they did an excellent job. I contacted Brian last year about a gate and the fence; however, after a few e-mails we lost touch. After going through 3 other contractors for the fence and either not getting a response or not getting the fence that I wanted, I decided to contact Brian again. The only negative reviews I saw about his company was the lack of response, and that seemed to occur during the height of the busy season. After seeing his work, I now know why he is in high demand. I am glad to catch him ?off-season? and would not hesitate to use him again or to recommend him. His price was fair, his guys were professional and communicated well on any issues that might have come up, and they cleaned up after the job to my satisfaction. The fence and gate look great ? just what I wanted!

Description of Work: Straight Up Fence replaced my fence this April 2016. They did an excellent job. The men building the fence were polite and steady workers never complaining about the job or weather conditions (rain/snow). My only suggestion for the company is timely return calling. My neighbors wanted to use the company as well, but complained to me that they, the company, were not returning their calls. Still, I would recommend this company to anyone needing a fence built.

After a month since the project was completed, I am very satisfied with my new fence. Brian and team did a great job, very professional and willing to negotiate on price. The project was completed in 2 days. They even arranged to have a tree cut down that would have obstructed the fence, included in the price. The fence looks great and really completed our backyard. Thanks guys!

Brian was fantastic. He squeezed us into his calendar and got the work done very quickly. The wrought iron fence is perfect - great quality, style and the height and specifics were exactly what we wanted. It turned out at the last minute that we had to do a survey as we could not find any survey marks. Brian coordinated the survey completely for us, which was a total lifesaver. We would definitely use him again!

Brian & co took out my old metal fence and put in a new wooden one in the backyard. Our backyard has a crazy slope so I was really impressed that they made it look good. The fence is bombproof - I checked and all postholes were 2 feet deep - no winds will knock this down. Really, nothing to complain about. I mean, some very minor issues (they didn't reattach my neighbors fence), but these kinds of things are piddling compared to the overall great job done.

I'm sorry that we did not get back to you in a more reasonable amount of time. We are a family owned company and sometimes in the summer we can get very busy. It is hard to get back to everyone as quickly as we'd like to. That said I am also sorry to see that you have reviewed our company with an F. We do high quality work and take the time to complete each job as we would on our own house. This could be a factor in why we didn't call you back as quickly as you'd hoped. I sincerely apologize and as the owner of the company I'd like to let all of our potential customers know that we have been making changes in our office to expand and to be more punctual. At A Straight Up Fence Co., LLC integrity, honesty and pride of work is our goal and our mission.

They did a good job. It was a really small job and was a little section; we just had a little section of fence, where it was the community or the HOA fence. We had privacy fence around 90% of our yard and this one little section that wasn’t. They fixed that and also fixed our gate for no extra charge because it just wasn’t closing right. They were able to fit us in and they came out one morning, were done by 2 o’clock and our fence was complete. We spent $550 on that service. They showed up when they said they would, they poured the concrete, put the posts in and the fence looks great.
