Overall, I'd rate Waste Management at about a C or maybe a little better for service. In 20 years, we never had to call them for a missed pickup (that sometimes took patience) and by and large, our service with WM just worked. No frills; they often leave barrels in the street and if a newspaper happens to fall out of your recycling, you'll be picking it up long after the truck left. The plus is that they don't miss pickups; the minus is that you have to watch them a bit. I'm going with an F on pricing because our last bill with WM was over $190 for 3 months. This seems to be WM's loyalty program - the longer you stay, the more they charge (I can document this). When I called them to cancel service, I was told that they would match competitor's prices. If they did that automatically, I'd have no desire to cancel, or even call. For what they were charging, our trash should have had a limo ride to the dump. Service: A solid C-C+ Maybe even a B- Price? Fool me once... Watch your bills with this outfit -- I should have been more proactive, but now I can't get the taste out of my mouth.
Description of Work: Waste Management handled our residential trash and recycling services for 20 years.

WM has been consistent about picking up our trash at the same time every week. My problem is with their customer service. The bill goes up every quarter without any explanation as to why. When I signed up for service the website lists only the price I originally paid when I started service with no mention of this being a discounted rate. When I emailed them and asked if I was getting a new customer discount and for how long, the actual response - I kid you not - was and quot;Yes. It's good for like a year.and quot; No mention in the reply of what the discount or regular price was, and yikes! Who uses and quot;likeand quot; in a professional reply? I've since asked what I can do to drop the price and the answer was: nothing. So a threatened to cancel service. Their response to try to retain a customer? and quot;Okay, here's the process for cancelling.and quot; Well, they've finally convinced me with their rising prices and terrible customer service: I'm actively looking for a new trash collector now.
